Pocket camp and new horizons are both super good games, but different in their own right. For acnh i wouldnt say the game has changed much, more just the community around it. It was never multiplayer in the same way acnl was, so unless you were really engaged in the community or had a group of friends you visited a lot its pretty much the same game
Most people have phones and for me, I had to spend money on a switch + game to experience ACNH. It's a big commitment for people, so PCC is much more accessible for those who wants a glimpse of animal crossing. ACNL was a great game for sure, but i do think the community in the multiplayer feature were common for those who were really engaged.

Yeah I 1000% agree with you. During covid I BINGED animal crossing new horizons, but everytime I go back to it it just doesn't feel the same 😕
animal crossing has had online multiplayer since 2005 😂
