Both of my parents majored in this, and my dad is now a senior editor and producer for a news company! My mom decided to make a career change and go to graduate school about 10 years ago but still looks back on her days as a journalist fondly. My parents actually met while working for the same company!
I have a mass communication degree, i've served in different capacities in public organizations in Pakistan and my degree has a lot impact in my communication skills and competitive than my colleagues and even seniors, good news to share alongwith i have recently got a job offer that fits my degree, as a PRO, cheers!
My major's been acknowledged 🎉
Hey! It's my major!❤️
Thank you for this insight !
Hoping to see Speech Communiction soon 👀
How related is this major to one like Global Marketing Communications?
I’m majoring in communication. I’m getting my AA-T soon. Then I’ll work on my bachelors in journalism and mass communication
Best of luck!
I like journalism that Why I come here
My major. The COMM major! 🏆
How much is the monthly salary??
If possible, could y'all do a Civil Engineer video? I'm thinking about switching my major to civil but I'm not sure
Just want to learn more about mass communication and have the experience about it
I feel like you are answering a question that nobody asked..
walks into a grocery store and announces "Hey everyone,I am here for some groceries"..
wait,I always thought a degree mass communication taught you how to tell people how much they weigh?
you guys should do philosophy next!!
They already did on Crash Course.
@@eragonlindemann7236 crash course did an overview of philosophy as you might encounter it in a 101 class. not of philosophy as a major, and what that major entails.
@@itsfr0st_gg That's right, but Philosophy hopefully may get covered in future seasons of Fast Guides! Study Hall has made a RUclips post seeking suggestions on majors to cover in future videos, and I encourage you to share your thoughts there. Philosophy has been suggested there, and even in earlier Fast Guides! :)
Is mass communications different from just regular communication or communication studies majors? Or is it kind of the same thing just under a slightly different name?
They're similar and likely have a lot of overlap but mass communication is about effectively communicating with the masses through mainstream mediums. But every program will be a little different!
I love borcast My major is speaking
Still struggling to choose a good degree ! 😬
I would say Comm (sometimes comm and mass media are split depending on your uni) is good if you enjoy social science without the technicality of it all. It’s primarily “how to talk” and “how to get a job talking”. I will say though that as “easy” as that sounds there’s a big reason it’s a niche major. It takes a very specific kind of person and a different type of skills than some of the other humanities. It is an “easy” major. But it’s mostly easy if you already have the nature for it
still waiting for marketing 😅
The pay sounds really low for a bachelor's degree.
Agreed. I majored in Communications (with a Mass Comm emphasis) and graduated in 1995…… by ‘99, I was earning $46k/year (in Milwaukee, WI!). Seems like 2 decades later, salaries have barely budged. That sucks.
Bachelor doesn’t equal high pay anymore anyone can get a bachelors especially in communication
@@EBrenry remember supply and demand of labor dictate salary not education level
Yeah it’s rough out the gates. Get a masters though and you’ll get a 6 figure corporate job in a blink. But it’s also a degree that you NEED to specialize in something within the field. I did Comm as a degree but my specialty was 1st amendment studies and freedom of communication. My senior thesis then became a law review of prayer in schools in regard to violations of the Establishment Clause. I had job offers out the ass before I even graduated in fields that had nothing to do with COMM.
Do chemistry
Not the most useful. However chemical engineering is a great degree. You actually get to make things using chemistry and can make $100k right out of college
@@mustang8206 you know that chemists also do things right? Almost everything you use was done by a chemist it’s hard to think of anything more useful then chemistry other then math and language perhaps
Ah this is why so much things today are getting a slight tast of propaganda back.
Stuff feels more arteficial...
