25-year-old Pina Newman tried to suppress her true self but eventually “it just erupted.” When she was young, she received bad psychologist advice that her parents initially trusted. It was a long journey to decide who she is and what she wants and that journey continues today. But one thing she is sure of, she is proud of who she is. “I am who I am and I am enough.”
A series designed to record, share and celebrate the personal stories of transgender women and men, their stories of struggle, of courage and of triumph. Each program reflects the broad diversity that exists within the trans community. Though they vary in age, ethnicity and socioeconomic backgrounds, each person has fought to cast off the gender assigned to them at birth and embrace their true selves. These documentaries take us firsthand into the lives of people who are transgender, revealing their struggles and life changing transitions. It takes a powerful look at this new generation, exploring the medical possibilities, struggles and choices transgender teens, adults and their families face today.
Each program helps us to think of the differences in each of us in a positive way, breaking stereotypes, acceptance, challenging prejudice and increasing visibility for the transgender community.

RIP Pina. Can someone help me understand? I often hear parents being put a position that affirmation is essential to life. "Parents. its your choice you do you want a dead son or a thriving happy girl". It is such a sad paradox, especially given Peter/Pina followed the path of many who transition - dead 4 May 2020.
