- Ah, the shimmer, one of the most praised addition of Terraria 1.4.4 update. It's very pretty, it's very exploitable, and it's just awesome!... well, about the exploit, it got fixed in Terraria 1.4.4.4 update, so I guess we just can't do Empress of Light on daytime with no damages... but I mean, that's technically cheating, so there would be no difference if you just take it from the cheat sheet or whatever. Well, it doesn't matter anymore, because the exploit was fixed. Sadly, they still haven't fixed about this fact: Once you enter the shimmer without anything, you get sucked into the ground. Oh, also, it bounces some projectiles back to sky.

You can actually use the wormhole potion to teleport to a friend while shimmering though obviously it only works in multiplayer

Shimmer is a amazing liquid but a damn nusiance when not using a chromatic cloak

portal gun makes you fall faster outside of shimmer too. also you can make projectiles go so fast they barley last a frame if you put it in the bottom of a shimmer pit all the way from surface to hell
Projectile with moving type can bounce by shimmering water such as arrow and bullet
Because last prism is instant type projectile which mean they dont need move so it will ignore shimmering effect
Me and my friend did a team battle with other people once so we constructed a massive tunnel deep underground so we used shimmer as basically a get out of trouble card
Can the nurse heal the shimmer debuff or are you unable to talk to her while being shimmered?
Pretty sure you're unable, plus you'd be in it anyways so you'd be reshimmered
I think it would be really cool if you could shimmer the bosses into the Chinese variants.
I see this liquid as a fun thing to mess and tinker around with.
They should make it so when you press W or UP it will reverse the effect and send you back to the surface of the shimmer, and maybe give water walking for a few seconds.
Yeah but that'd basically remove the shimmering effect itself, and just let the player swim

You could do a neat base set up with this have a pool like under your base and if they submerge send them to a trap room but if you are wearing the immunity cape then you can go to the bottom and get into a secret room :D

Have you tried shimmer arrows on the bottom side of shimmer? Probably nothing special but maybe something will happen

I got an idea with the projectile bouncing property, just have a box of bubble blocks and drench the outside in shimmer, I wonder how many times nano bullets would bounce then!
with water walking/lava waders/terraspark boots, you can walk on te surface of the shimmer. just don't press down.

TIP: you can use the new infinite sponge that you can craft with water, lava and honey infinite sponges. the new super cool sponge absorbs water, lava, honey AND shimmer too. pretty useful when messing with the shimmer

I personally think a better way to fix the exploit would be to just “shimmerize” the players minions, I don’t know if that would be too difficult though.
Yeah. And also turn you invisible for bosses, but it seems Re-Logic has rushed some of the update mechanics, a little bit too much, that they can't think of a proper fix right now. Anyway, I just hope they make 1.4.4.4.4 with my proposal which is perfect (along with yours).

Post moonlord infinite money idea: throw bottomless shimmer bucket into shimmer, shimmer uncrafts the bucket into bottomless water bucket and luminite. Throw bottomless water bucket into shimmer for another shimmer bucket. Sell the luminite. Might not work if it just shimmers between the buckets

While I do enjoy the fact that there is a reward after fighting the Empress during the day, I wish it was something other than the Terraprisma.
Try fishing in shimmer will make you fall even wearing chromatic cloak.

Flawed game design? Assuming it doesn't work with pumps, you could only move it if you beat the Moon Lord, and if you don't have a method of flight or teleportation by then, you're doing it wrong. That's like saying the game sucks because your friend covered the spawn point in lava, you can't blame the game because your friends suck.

i foresee relogic either trying to make shimmer a voluntary thing to fall though, us being able to move while shimmerd, or removing the feature all together becuase its just being largely abused and theres no real way to balance something so dumb and annoying.
