    Thanks for the video. I've been having problems with my mowers breaking off one head in particular. So I followed your instructions and filled one donut with quikrete. Letting it dry overnight and will install it tomorrow with a new head. I'm assuming it will work pretty slick and will then do 4 more. Thanks again.

    How about only buying one and using it for a mold to make many concrete ones

    • @naamangeist7843
      @naamangeist7843  3 года назад

      Because concrete won't have the plastic inner lip to fit the sprinkler head like a glove. Then you will have grass growing between the head and the concrete, defeating the purpose, not to mention the color not matching the grass. Besides that, you will have to wait several hours between each for the concrete to setup before you can make the next one. For the price, it isn't worth the hassle of not using the plastic.

    LOL @ reading the comments. Anyways OP curious what happens if you ever need to change out the entire sprinkler other than just the head. Is it easily removable if needed assuming you dig around it?

      Don't see any reason or need to replace anything other than the head, seeing the head contains all the filters and adjustable moving parts. But yes, it is easily removable. You could simply use plyers to grip the threaded part of the body and twist counter-clockwise, unthreading it from the fitting on the waterline. The body would then be used to lift the donut out of the ground, causing the least amount of disturbance to the sod around it.

    They now sell a mold for you to make your unlimited amount of sprinkler "DONUTS"

      You can also use a small silicone bundt cake mold. Most have a "fancy" finish. They also sell more plain silicone donut molds.

    SInce the head is still above the protector how does it protect it? You could still run over it with the lawn mower and break the head and maybe jack up the mower blade?

      The donut is buried flush to ground level on compacted gravel, keeping it from sinking under the weight of the riding mower. Your tires are soft enough they won't damage the sprinkler cap and the blades don't cut low enough to hit it. I've been using these for years now and never broke any yet, except one near the road that was above flush to ground level. When repairing it, I took one of the risers out of the water line, lowering the head about an inch and then buried the donut an additional inch and now all is well. Thanks for the comment.

      @@naamangeist7843 Okay cool thanks. I was thinking more about pipe damage too I guess. In the past cars ran over my heads and it pushed down the whole system and broke the pipe (more indicating bad initial installs)

      @@NewYears1978 I put a sharp curb at the road with the use of blocks I purchased from a landscaper that sold pavers to keep cars off my grass. You could try using poly line in place of the risers so it will give (sink) without damaging the waterline. Best of luck.

      Yeah I replaced some of them with poly lines and they've been better since. The cars were usually my kids (parking a little on the grass , we have no curb it's one of those ramp type curbs (whatever it is callled).
      My big issue is most my heads are too low, grass overgrown..and cheap parts. Thinking of installing hunter MP Rotators and new bodies, and raising them all the ground level at the same time and using maybe some protectors (maybe sprinkler buddy or something like that, not sure yet)

    That donut is the wrong size for your popup sprinkler head. Opening is too small, does not fit the cap on the sprinkler head.

    • @naamangeist7843
      @naamangeist7843  7 месяцев назад

      It isn't supposed to fit the cap, it's supposed to fit the body as shown. If it fit the cap, you'd have grass growing between the cap and the donut.
