  • World Trigger is one of my all-time favourite Anime series, yet it's one I've never seen anyone properly talk about on RUclips before.
So I figured it was time to take matters into my own hands, and give the series the love letter it deserves.
    Enjoy!

You've done it yet again Leth, you've convinced me to give a series a shot.
Honestly, this video surprised me. I went into it really not expecting my opinion to waver all that much on the series but... You really sold me. Just your passion for every facet of this show was such a delight to watch, and I think you did a *fantastic* job at explaining aspects of the series in a fun and engaging way. Your humor is on point, and it definitely feels like you're improving a ton as a content creator. Editing wise, you're really coming into your own, and I personally feel like you've really discovered your own visual flair.
This is your best video, no contest. I feel honored to be your friend, you've really made something amazing

      Thank you so much Alice!
I'm glad I was able to entertain and help sway your opinion on the series a little!
I really appreciate the feedback, especially from someone who's own content inspires me all the time.
And yes! Talentless Nana is next! >w

The specific way I "sold" this show to my friends in the sea of shounen is to double down on specifying not how well this show handles fights...but how it handles TEAM fights. Almost any shonen afair, even if a team is involved, boils down to isolated 1v1-s that barely if at all affect each other. In WT the team fights are actually team fighst with strategy, positioning, use of terrain, and even the sides are not 1 team v 1 team but 3~4 team free for alls which involve playing 2 different enemy teams against each other and such. This is where WT is simply the best in the business bar none. I don't care if the story never goes anywhere to be perfectly honest, I could watch like 10 more seasons of just the B rank wars.

crazy how world trigger is so unpopular in the west, especially over here in America since triggers are such a big part of our culture.

You ever see America dragon Jack long, the twins one can see happy things and one can see bad things. The one that can see happy things becomes goth and the one that sees sad becomes preppy as shit. Jin can see both but sadly there is more evil and bad endings, plus his black trigger being used that was from his master. He is just a pile of depression and the only joy he has is teasing or plotting how to save everyone or get what he wants.

yayyyyyyy world trigger!!!!! very nice video, always love seeing stuff about one of my favorite shows. nice points about the tactics and the fact that osamu isn't a typical protag (the anxiety, the kindness that's a result of a selfish wish, there's so much about him).
also i want to imagine that a good dub would absolutely have karasuma put on that exact voice but only when he's lying to konami. she still falls for it every time.

I really liked this video and hope you do more in depth retrospectives on series you like. While your taste differs a lot from mine, I really like seeing someone with different tastes comment on how much a show meant to them. It shows how diverse anime fans can be and how diverse the medium itself can me. You even convinced me to give this show a try, as I try to give everything a chance because I can never know what will surprise me (though not rn because i have like 3 long anime i need to finish lole). Also that OP fuckin BANGS!

Holy shit. Amazing video. Really agree with all your points here. Disclosure: I was one of those who dropped it back when. I was younger, let the community influence me and didn't give it a chance. Then with S2 coming, I decided to binge. Man what a great experience that was. Indeed, it's unlike anythinhg else Jump offers. And the cast are all so well used. Border really feels like an organization full of different people with different goals, personalities and mindsets. And the tactics and teamwork focus. Man, so good. I'd say more, but you say enough in the video.
This is indeed a show that deserves a bigger audience
Also, goddamn, that dub is so shit. Holy shit the clips were hilariously bad. What a trashfire of a dub

I'm glad as a fan of the series you enjoyed it!
It really is so wildly different in how it handles itself compared to other Jump titles and really pushes the envelope when it comes to Shounen storytelling, which makes it all the more sad that it's kind of been ignored in favour of other titles.
And lmao, yeah. It's very bad.
      Thank you for watching!

I am not going to lie, the character design, cgi and the "TRIGGER ON" sequence put me off the show. Plus, I guessed the show was off brand attack on titan. Then I was scrolling through isekai and world trigger was there. I was confused so I finished it. Best fights ever.

  • @fathergirth

Great video, some minor disagreements but generally agreed with everything but I did hope you went in deeper on how the fights are structured and it sets it apart from other shonen. ie the emphasis of roles, positioning, every member is not useless (for the most part) fights are almost never 1v1s etc

    • @LethYT
      @LethYT  3 года назад +1

My original version of the script gave a lot more details about all of that, but because I used specific examples, it ended up spoiling some of the shows best moments, which I didn't want to do for newcomers.
That being said, thank you for watching and for the feedback! I'm still very new to this whole video making thing, so any feedback is appreciated!

You Ruined my day but not for the reason you think.
It wasn't good, it wasn't bad. It was just standard, but better than Bleach.
Could have been much great, but it had that Shonen drop in story(even Hunter X Hunter had it's drop after Chimera Ant Arc)
Yu Yu Hakusho is probably the only shonen that hasn't had that drop IMHO.
I define the shonen drop the point in the story were it seems the writer thinks... Well what the hell do I do now.
You'll know when you watch or read it.

If you are talking abuout YuyuHakusho as anime or manga (especially anime)...I can't believe your words. As the author himself stated he dropped the story for avoiding to follow the guidelines of the cliche tropes Shonen Jump wanted his show to become (you know, the indefinite loop of tournament arcs or fighting another enemy out of nowhere over and over again).
You have final battle with Sensui finished in the most anticlimactic way that NOT EVEN fulfilled his story. You know HxH uses Leorio (the weakest member of the crew) when you read/watch what they did with Kuwabara in the last arc.
If you haven't seen that drop, we are talking different checkboxes abut what makes a series a good series.
In World Tigger, even the spaceship that "only appears in season 2" and the exam that comes after the tournament arc and "appears out of nowhere" are stated in the first 13 episodes of the anime. In a show that COMPELS you to pay attention, they are not scenes you are supposed to be constantly reminded about (specially the exam part).
