Ooh, I've watched The Bear and am watching House of the Dragon now, too! Loved The Bear, am enjoying HotD (I'm still on the first season, though). About books, I've FINALLY finished Stonewielder this sunday, which is GREAT. I'll be reading Lovely War next, which is not usually something I'd pick up, but it was recommended to me by a friend, so I'll give it a try. Hopefully, I'll finish it with enough time this month to also read something else - I'm thinking something by Ted Chiang - but idk, let's see.
I finally finished Mask of Mirrors yesterday and it was so so so fun and good! I'm eager to launch into the next one! But also kinda want to go back and reread this one because of the rook!!
I loved Chilling Effect so I'm glad to hear you are also enjoying Prime Deceptions (I hope to get to it soon). We Have Always Been Here and the August Kitko book both sound fun! This weekend, I am going to be finishing my re-read of Crooked Kingdom for book club and reading Howling Dark and Ruthless Vows. I will also be starting The Way of the Apprentice (the second Vorkosigan Saga) here soon. And here are the cats!
I need to try Seven Days in June again. I DNFed it a while back, but I knew it was just the wrong time. Here’s hoping your weekend is at least a little less painful than you are expecting.
Yea, its one of those events where I haven't even truly internalized that there will be an after but just taking it one day at a time and soon it will all be behind me for better or worse
🐈⬛ I’m halfway thru Perhaps the Stars! This is the only book I’m reading right now because I’ve had it from the library for 8+ weeks now and I should probably return it. 😅
Happy to hear you’re keeping a balance of all your loves- books, games, entertainment. Have loved seeing the kitten moments - making you slow down/ be still and engage the cozy💗 Reading “Dallergut Dream Department Store”, & Bradbury’s “Golden Apples of the Sun”, & Conrad’s “Secret Agent”, & “My Brilliant Life” by Kim. Hoping to do some sprints this afternoon. Hanging out with my grandsons tomorrow night. That’s about all the plans 😂
I couldn't tell you on audio only if they are good cause I always had the book to guide my eyes. The sentences can be fairly dense so I don't trust my retention without it!
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance okay that is super helpful, I think my pea brain is gonna be happy to have a physical copy alongside it then hahahah thanks!!
Happy weekend. I'm *so* waiting for you to finish Terra Ignota... and hoping you do a full episode about it (though that would likely require spoilers). But there's *so* much to talk about it, including that... unreliable narrator.
I do think I will do a spoiler free series review but I do hope to have a discussion with everyone who has been buddy reading it, already those have been a blast as we parse the narrator that is Mycroft
Hopefully you will have a better experience, but while I love August Kitko, I don’t think the audiobook is very good. There are a lot of characters from different parts of the world and the accents are not well done.
When I tried with just my eyes I was struggling with the sentence syntax, so the audio has helped with that but its also been over a day and I haven't picked it up again after getting 20% of the way through on my first night... need to figure out if that's me with reading in general right now or just that book
I hope your weekend will be as least bad as possible 🥺 But glad to hear that reading has been good for you at least. Yay for escapism! Especially in times of distress!🐈🐈⬛🐈 I'm trying to recover from basically hate reading Chain-Gang All Stars (aka trying to _not_ fall into a reading slump) 😅I picked it up because the premise sounded intriguing, but I pretty much disliked the execution across the board. With a passion. (except the main audiobook narrator, she was very good)🥲 This is not a book for character driven readers, imo, as you don't get to know more than a sentence or two about each of the characters. The plot also goes nowhere really. The messages are shoved down the reader's throat. I only finished it because it is a r/fantasy July pick for one of their readathons and I really want to fulfill that prompt for my bingo board 😅, otherwise it would have been a dnf.
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance Honestly, I think July would be a really good time to pick it up, it being one of the picks for one of the r/fantasy readalongs. That way you could use it for the HM for that prompt (fyi, the first discussion for it will be on the 17th and the second on the 31st) ;) Also, from what I have seen at least, you can appreciate a project of a book even if you don't like some things about it, so I think that you have a better probability of liking it than I did ☺ I would also warmly recommend the audiobook - I thought the main narrator is really good. The other narrators were also good, but not as good as the main one, imo at least ☺🎧

Yessss but having read Mask of Mirrors 3 times I really get that urge to re-read!
Glad you're having fun with the Valerie Valdez book. Hope the other sci-fi books end up being enjoyable too!
One is doing pretty well but the other was a dnf alas
Really enjoy your channel, thanks so much for taking the time to recommend reads.

Hahah this is very relatable 😂
I’m going to be starting My Lady Jane as well. 🐈🐴🐺
Had to pause and watch shrinking with my husband cause he is not as into the shifter romance as I am 😂
....Mechas in Space... I hope you like it. I love pink. I got myself ebook. But I DNFed it befor Mechas showed up. 😮💨
I dnf'd around 75 pages, just wasn't working with my brain unfortunately
I'm here for the sci-fi. I'm not the biggest fantasy reader

🐈 🐈⬛ happy weekend
Abby Jimenez and Tia Williams have become my go-to authors for romances that take on some heavier themes. Oh and Kennedy Ryan!
I shall have to check out Kennedy Ryan!
YAY you finally read another Terra Ignota book!! So, are they good on audio (only) then?
Also, I am sending hugs to you this weekend, hang in there 🥰

The mixed reviews for chain gang all start make me more intrigued to pick up my copy! I have really only seen love or hatred lol
