Because the feces of the chicks are still nutritious. In order to save time looking for food, the parent birds can only eat chicks feces.

Because birds will subconsciously regard the chickens who were hatched in their nests as their own chickens, even though they look so different.
that is a coocoo bird chick it tossed the parent birds eggs out of the nest when it hatched so it could take all their attention to grow up. they are a parasitic bird species very ugly little things aswell.
