Commenting on a two year old video but man the amount of people comparing this to the Flower cover just gets me so sad. You realize there’s a person behind the lyrics, the melody, the one who chose the voicebank to perform this? I can’t imagine how much that might hurt to keep seeing how people come onto your video just to talk about how much greater a cover is than your original creation. To me, both versions are great, but considering the lyrics of the song, lily’s voice to me has always won out over any other cover. Niki’s songs to me have always factored in the gentleness of lily’s voicebank to be a part of the experience. While Flowers cover of Close To You or Ritsu’s cover of Error have always been incredibly more popular than the original, they’re tuned in a way that intensifies the song in such a way that it loses a part of the feelings that Niki wants to convey through his music. Some people prefer that intensity, and that’s fine, but I would hope that more people can come to appreciate the same gentleness that I can feel with the original. Thank you Niki for composing such wonderful music, and I love hearing Lily still being used by you.
Amen. There is something about the choice of vocaloid, tuning, and dynamics that make this song. I feel the same way about ERROR too. Can't really speak for everybody, but I feel that these two songs (any many others) have the strongest emotional connection in their original forms. It's not as if the song was written, and then at the end they picked a singer. The entirety of the composition and arrangement is accounted for holistically from the ground up, and it makes for something indescribably beautiful. There are exceptions, though, and the first one that comes to mind is Palette by Yuyoyuppe. I think the Hanatan version hits the feels with the precision of a robotic surgeon, in comparison to the original.
I completely agree. I know I feel upset or sad when covers are more popular than the original, but well people can have different likes and dislikes, just like me, I discovered this song through Undertale. But at least though, the original brought up the covers, thus making the covers popular. I don't blame anyone here.

Got introduced to Niki via Towa-sama's ERROR cover. I will say that it is extremely rude to insult the original song even if you're in favor of a particular cover. However, I like seeing people comparing the two. Each of their creators gave their own version of it, to what they thought fit best the story they wanted to tell. I love how overpowering Flower's voice was. Alongside the art that was displayed in the video, to me it came across like a thundering tempest. It really played well to the desperate feel of the way she sang. The way she enunciated some of the words in the lyrics to provide emphasis on certain words to really drive home the emotion the creator of the cover wanted to create. Lily's voice however comes across as a bard retelling a story. It feels gentle and warm, even with the lyrics and the meaning behind it all. I love how subdued and restrained her voice is even during the punch in the chorus, it comes across like a past memory that is painful enough to let some emotions through the wall of time. All in all, I don't know if Niki will ever read this. But thank you for making this song, without this song there would never be any covers of it, there wouldn't be so many different perspectives. Thank you for this beautiful melody.

That's just how it is sometimes, I guess. There are a lot of songs that are popular like Killing Me Softly. If you know that song, it's probably the cover version you heard and not the original one.
Not sure if you've heard of it, but if you're talking about the Flower cover, it's all due to a certain thing called "The Kyaami Effect". Basically, every time Kyaami makes a synthesized cover of a Niki song, it gets more popular than the original because of her amazing tuning skills and the fact that she often picks a VB that fits the song better than the one which sang the original.
None of the english covers will ever live up to the meaning of this song. They change so much of the lyrics that they're literally brand new songs. I interpret this as a song about somebody who doesn't want to let go of love for someone they know will never love them back. they hold onto this memory of the finite time they had with them, theyre resisting letting tears fall because they dont want to admit its over. they close their eyes, refuse it, and believe its a lie because they. do. not. want. to. think. its. over. near the end of the song it says 「形ないものだけが静かに色づいた」. I can (rougly) translate this to "only the formless things were silently colored". i like to interpret this as these "formless" things mentioned throughout the song are like the idea of stepping away and moving on with your life, and near the end of the song (「少しだけ心に触れて 」) when they admit they can't win this person over and resume the life they had with them, the "formless" things are finally "colored" in, as they've finally accepted it. i also really prefer lilys voice for this rather then v flower. v flower is very overpowering, while i feel the meaning i see in the song is more suited for a softer tone the v flower offers. even during the punch of the corus, despite her voice being raised it's much more fitting for something like telling the tale of a love you never wanted to let go off. hope this was understandable, really just pouring my half-baked ideas out wwwwww
@@thechickenslittl1373 it’s not that it’s untranslatable. It’s just a different metaphor/saying than you use in English, so it’s kind of weird to directly translate it. But in translating it in a way that makes sense, most English covers lose the meaning the original song holds in my eyes.
