Sensational dioramas Frank!! I see so much inspiration here for myself, I love your work and would love to see a whole lot more of your talent on display.
Frank, these are good dioramas.I've been tinkering with German tanks for 20 years and I can't consider any of 'em to be truly finished,so I know what an accomplishment those really are.
All dioramas are done with great skill and professionalism. The figure painting is of particular note.....very realistic. Keep building and having fun. Bill.
Thanks guys! When I was young I was very impressed with the finished models and dioramas displayed at the loco hobby shop. In turn I hope my builds will be the inspiration for others! Frank
Thank you L'Darius! Nobody is perfect. I make mistakes and then try to fix them. After completing one of my dioramas I felt it just didn't work. So I tore it apart and rebuilt it. I had to replace items like the tracks that were glued down. In the end I had a diorama I was happy with. Good luck and keep modeling!
It is my sincerest wishes that my models and dioramas are a inspiration to the young generation as much as the models that caught my attention and inspired me. I am more then happy to share all my modeling knowledge with everyone that has an interest in this GREAT hobby!
Thanks Nick, I have always strived to better my figure painting ever since I first read Sheperd Paine's 'Building Dioramas' I use artist oil paints for the flesh areas. It's much easier to blend the tones with these. For the rest of the figure, (clothing and gear) I use acrylic. When I can afford to increase my oil selection, I would like to try a figure painted entirely with oils! Happy Modeling!
Thanks so much localjedi!.........With your username I assume you also like Si-Fi?........I built many Si-Fi models as well! Somehow over the years most of them have vanished :(
Thank you Der Baukonig! I watched your video as well and enjoyed it! I'm working on a new diorama it should be finished by this fall. Keep on modeling!!!!
These are so cool, I'm trying to get into model painting I've just done my first set. I'm quite happy with the results for my first attempt but would love to hear what you think. There's a short video on my page would love your feedback/tips as those diaramas are brilliant great detail!
Thanks for your kind comment. I have only had my videos on for a short time and yours is the 1st comment on any of them. I am currently working on a new diorama set in France not long after D-day. This diorama will contain all allied vehicles and figures. I hope to have it finished before the local IPMS show in November.
Très beau travail monsieur c est un plaisir pour les yeux je suis abonné !!!! et je serai fier de vous avoir comme abonné aussi very good work mister this is a pleasure for the eyes I am subscribed !!!! and I would be proud to have you as subscriber thank you
The first Encounter gave me an idea to do a similar diorama. Instead of a Russian tank and a German AT gun, a German tank and a Russian AT gun! that would make an interesting diorama!
Good Idea Davis! The Russian front is full of never ending possibilities! ......I gave up modeling for 10 years and when I resumed 'The First Encounter' was my first project. I would like to see your diorama when you complete it!
Frank Gooder It might be a while but when I get the time and money I'll do it! Send me an email at davisajacobs@gmail.com. I have some questions about modeling I would like to ask you. Thank you for you reply!
Hi Jack. I make most of my bushes from Decorative Moss I found in a craft store. Break small amounts off to obtain the shape you want then glue a toothpick up the center so you have something firm to attach to your base. I spray them with 3M general purpose adhesive and then sprinkle with NOCH model R&R leaves. For the trees I use limbs from dead bushes I find in the desert. You may be able to find some from domestic plants, I have used these as well. They need to be rather firm with small branches. I cover these with Model R&R poly fiber (stretched out to very thin), then apply the adhesive and leaves as I already described. I have seen others make a tree from a wire armature, but this seams like a lot of work, but for some, their only option...........I hope this helps...........Happy Modeling!...........Frank
Hey Frank how are you? Nice work, beautiful. I have a question... how do you do the black iron fences?? Did you buy it pre made or you do it by yourself? I'm about to do some but i have no clue which material to use (especially to do the rings). Thanks
Bruno, Thank you! Most of my rod iron gates are made from brass rod which I super-glue together. It is very hard to solder joints that close together without melting your previous joints. I have used photo-etched products for fencing but I don't really like it because it is flat and unrealistic looking. I hope this helps with your project! Frank
I use real dead shrub branches that I find in the desert but any (small) dried shrud branch will due. I cover them with poly fiber by 'Woodland Scenics' then I spray the fiber with a spray adhesive and sprinkle it with leaf products from 'Noch'..........just a note, paint your shrub branches with various shades of brown!

Hey this is a great diorama very realistic I wish my diorama came out like this :/
Some amazing dioramas there frank may I ask where u get the trees/bushes/shrubs from

Frank Gooder thanks a lot
very nice work my friend just subbed you buddy
Thank You!
Thank you!
Awesome work i know its an old video but did you make the diorama floor and the buildings yourself or are they from a moddeling kit too?
Hey Frank how are you?
Nice work, beautiful.
I have a question... how do you do the black iron fences?? Did you buy it pre made or you do it by yourself?
I'm about to do some but i have no clue which material to use (especially to do the rings).

Hey I know this is a really late time to comment and ask, but where did you get these figures and how can I buy some?
Amazon
I paint my 1/35 germans all by hand incorporating straps and lines....no airbrush....
What website can u by these from? Besides eBay or amazon.
steven garnar, I'm not sure how to respond to your question? My dioramas belong to my personal collection and are not for sale.
What brand of paints are you using on your figures? Vallejo?
I use mainly Acrylics by Model Master, Lifecolor, and Villejo for the clothing but I use artist oils to paint the flesh areas.
How do you did a trees (I am from Russia)?
I use real dead shrub branches that I find in the desert but any (small) dried shrud branch will due. I cover them with poly fiber by 'Woodland Scenics' then I spray the fiber with a spray adhesive and sprinkle it with leaf products from 'Noch'..........just a note, paint your shrub branches with various shades of brown!
Where did you get the tanks from?
I built them from kits that I buy from hobby suppliers on line
its all airfix???
sperciboon Sorry, no Airfix models were used in any of my dioramas!
o did look like it

Your dioramas were very pretty. But the german soldiers and tanks weren't realistic. GOOD JOB!!!
sur n'importe quel diorama on voit un char Russe détruit ça devient grave
