Thank you so the story behind why we have the mad man was this. I stayed at home as I couldn't get time off to film so Matt did filming etc with 2 mates. When I received the footage I had no idea what to do. But then my wife was watching some netflix program called (you) so I was editing and heard the characters voice in the background and burst out laughing as it matched the quirky nature of Alex so I used AI to clone the characters voice and now we have a crazy evil character in the video lol. So because of this we asked him to come to the unit and film the very last bit on a different day but it was such a laugh putting this together 😅

I find it funny how in the UK driving this car is a challenge, yet back in my country, Czechia, this is/was a daily occurence for a loooot of people, not as much anymore, but theyre still very common around here. 😁

Great video Dave, really enjoyed it. That Skoda proves appearances can be deceptive and what looks a scrap heap can actually be a dependable runabout. I bought a bashed up Sierra for 140 quid. I ran it for a year and it never let me down.

Lol thank you. To be honest we had zero intention of doing this to poor Adam. Matt came home with the footage and I was totally lost with the edit but then my wife was watching some netflix program with some character called Joe Goldberg and it sounded funny so I replaced Alex's voice with his using ai. Silly joke but I think a few people actually enjoyed it

I myself own a Škoda Felicia, 98 hatchback with a 1.3 high compression motor. Despite costing 600 euro and not being serviced at all, it hasn't let me down once. Drives really good, and the shifter has 100 times less slop than yours does lol. Classic Škodas are awesome cars, sucks that they suffer from rust so much.

My Mk7 1.6 TDCI Silver Fiesta is called Felicity. Saved her from the back field of a car dealership. They had to tow her out with a 4x4 they had for sale. In the process they bent the tow hoop. One 2 foot pole later and I got the tow hoop out without damage to the bumper luckily. She just reached 140k miles at the weekend and still drives wonderful. Great to see you doing something interesting with essentially a scrap car lol

Well worth sorting out the few minor issues, I'd have thought - even that rusting bit over the rear wheel. Felicity might make a good touring car, and well deserves saving from the scrappie if the rust isn't too bad.

Well done your Skoda has done you proud, drove all the way to South stack lighthouse on HolyIsland of Anglesey a nice drive through Snowdonia . Did you travel back on the A5 or the A55 headed towards Wrexham and now your back in England and made it home, that car is a keeper it proves cheep and cheerfull does work and pays off. Great stuff great video have a good one

Hey guys I think that you should give that Skoda Felicia a respray and fix up the engine and fix clutch too make it good looking car again. I absolutely love Skoda's you could drive them for ages and they would still be going and drive able

I'm from Czech republic and you can buy these cars here for 200£ easily. I recommend do something with the engine, transmission and you have great lovely car (Btw. You can fit some VW Group engines in it like EAA 1.6 MPi 55kW or 1.9D 47kW, the engines are not so reliable like the skoda ones, but they are more powerful and probably easier to get in the UK)

The old Skoda may of been a rough around the bodywork and bad gear linkage but for £200 it never let you down
No it was utterly brilliant. We are planning another road trip with it. It's having a good clean up and we're taking it to a garage to inspect it's safety
@@epiccarshow I've been driving a 1.3 Felly for 8 years. Enginewise you'd want to look at: a new oil filler cap (or the cap gasket) if you can find any online. The blowby is 'kind of normal'. Must've done a lot of short trips in the past. You can also fabricate a small Z-shaped bracket starting from the valve cover mounting point to hold the filler cap in place. Mine blew off once and got stuck between the alternator and the belt. Luckily no damage. // It may look like yours has already received a new thermostat housing, the OEM ones are faulty after a few thousand miles. Does the coolant temp go up to 90°C on the highway? If not, replace the thermostat housing. // The leaky vent could be from a clogged drain hole due to water dripping into the intake on the bonnet. // If you give it a proper service it'll keep on running even after the chassis has rusted away. And believe me, this model knows how to rust. // the gear linkage rubber is a quick fix. If you don't have the new rubber, you can turn it upside down and it'll be 'a little better' for a while. All Felicia's have a ton of shifter wobble, it's charming.
Felicia is pretty much the last spawn of Skoda that was truly Skoda so that explains its immortality.
Yeah I can agree, this machine has done us proud. I was actually annoyed when he first spent all our budget on this but now I love the old girl lol
If you need to know anything about these give me a shout on here. Weve 3 of them, a 97 feli with 119000k miles in daily use that i purchased for £125 originally as a parts car for the 2000 feli that used to be my daily many years ago. That old girl im currently building into a rally car to do the btrda rally first series but the rust was alot worse than i thought 🤦♂️ its stripped on the drive waiting for a break in the rain to have the rest of the rot cut out & repaired. We also have a 98 that was my better halfs first car she learned to drive in, unfortunately due to a rare but not unknown cam issue on some of the early face lift 1.3 models it decided to explode itself at 49k miles so thats now the parts car 😂 quick tip for sorting the gear leaver, our 97 was a million times worse than yours, it would touch the edges in any gear and just bounce around while driving. Theres a nut and bolt directly underneath you can access from under the car that can loosen over time (it wasnt the rubber bush as someone else has commented but thats also a point that can go), just tighten that up preferably with a new locking nut and you'll be good to go 👌

@@epiccarshow no bother, they really are super underrated reliable cars! To sort the oil cap stick a butter knife (or screwdriver but be careful of pinching the rubber) behind the rubber seal and stretch it out, the reason it does that is someones taken the cap off while the engines been at temperature, it causes it to shrink with the rapid change from engine running temp to air temp. If the shrinkings to bad (like on our 97) take the rubber seal off, stick a decent thin rubber band no more than a mil thick in the groove on the cap then put the rubber seal back on over it. The reason I say a mil thick is I learnt my lesson & put a chunky one on then put the seal over the top, the cap got stuck after a heat cycle and was a pain to get off 🙈 Also on the thermostat they're more common for failing on these than the thing rusting 🤣 the whole housing needs changing each time, the plastic holding the thermostat in breaks down and snaps. They've become ridiculously hard to get hold of these days but the old style from the favorit are still pretty common. The only difference between them is the overflow/return pipe, instead of it pointing towards the coolant bottle/expansion tank it points towards the firewall, you just need a pipe twice the length to connect them together it wont affect the running of the car in any way! Euro car parts (or carcarparts4less) almost always have them in stock, they had them with 65% off (they're only about £10 each anyway) with the discount code on black friday last year so I got a job lot of 11 and stuck them in the shed 🤣. Rear suspension top mount bushes are another that fail & it looks like they may have with the way the back ends sitting on yours, they're readily available on amazon iv not long put a KYB set on ours, again they're completely inexpensive.

I bought a 1.3 felicia estate as a dirt cheap temporary car 3 and a half years ago, its very ugly and has some 'features' but it hasnt left me stranded once. Its still my daily and i dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. I even bought another one to make a nicer example out of as the first one looks even worse than your Felicity😂

Long story short. Matt went alone on the road trip with people who had ever been on camera. When he came back with the footage I was clueless with how I could edit it but then whilst editing my wife was watching some netflix horror film and I thought the voice was funny so I cloned it and added to Adams personality. His family weren't impressed but we had a chuckle. 😅
