This was from later in their career. Surrender, I Want You To Want Me, Dream Police are a few of their bigger hits.
For I Want You To Want Me, it has to be the live version.
The original cut was too slow and doesn't work.
100%
One of the greatest power ballads of the 80's - a true classic!
The Richard Marx song "Right here waiting" is not a sample of this song. Two totally different songs (and great in its own right, I must add). This is the slower/ballad side of Cheap Trick. Listen to "Surrender", "I want you to want me", for more of their regular sound. Great band.
Cheap Trick at the 1980 MTV music awards the song they did was aint that a shame a whole mind that everyone of them was ready for they was ready to play that night that's for d*** sure all of them
One of the best power ballads, from a great band.
Robin Zander: one of the best rock voices.
Cheap Trick instantly takes me back to the late 70s and early 80s when I was in high school. Just a killer singer and band. Rick Neilson has one helluva guitar collection too.
Never forget it never about a finder jazz base got it right here with me $80 $80 the dude wanted a 100 but all I had was safety so we took it that was 79 maybe 80
The big a** belt buckles that we used to wear back in the days Beta Beta h*** out of the back of the guitar base water
I got a love I aint I'm a normal chip Cheap Trick fan but I gotta love aint that ashamed at the MTV of music awards I think it's 81?
9:27 Their cover of Fats Domino's "Aint that a shame" is freaking amazing. It's from.
This is a Cheap Trick original. Sample???? Guys, rock groups don’t sample. 🙄 Checkout the live version from the old Houston Astrodome. The stage was in the round. (revolving) The quality of the audio is so good for the time, you can hear what’s coming from the stage itself, not just the mix. Robin Zander’s vocals are outstanding. Notice the work he’s putting in, no halfass performance here. One of “The Trick’s” most mature compositions. The Official Video is great as well. 🤘😎
If you go down the Cheap Trick hole you won't be disappointed. And the blonde Robin Zander is indeed the lead singer. His voice is as rich and full today with no loss of range.
They have alot of great songs
Surrender
I want you to want me
This is yhe original
I remember for years they would open up for KISS I always like their music better than Kiss themselves
One note and I'm instantly transported back to 12-year-old me playing pool in the gameroom of the campground we used to go to with this blaring on the jukebox. Pure time travel.
Does Ribin Zander have pipes or what?
I can rock with them, but I confess this will always be my favorite.
Saw Cheap Trick in Bezerkley in the early 80s.
Then again first concert after COVID restrictions drop at Reno's Atlantis Casino Showroom😎
They have a lot of cool tunes. Heres a few of them that I dig: "He's a Whore", "Come On, Come On", "Surrender"
"Heaven Tonight", "California Man", "I Want You to Want Me", "I Know What I Want", "Gonna Raise Hell", "Dream Police"
Chod you are right. The blond Guy is the singer, Robin Zander. The guy in blue is the bass player, Tom Petersson.
The Flame was a #1 hit. Cheap Trick was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016!
One of my favorite bands - ever! These guys are criminally underrated. This is their original song LOL.
I got to see and hear this performed live while sitting at a table 15' from center stage. I've heard a lot of great singers live and Robin Zander is right there with the best of them.
The flame live Houston astrodome 1989 is a good one
You have to check out "I Want You to Want Me", Ain't That a Shame", and "All Shook Up" by this band!
This is one of my all time favorite songs. It brings back so many memories!! They do have a few faster songs. The blonde is the lead singer.
Cheap Trick was the first live band I ever saw, when they opened up for Kiss in 1977 in Seattle. I was 14 years old, and my Dad wanted to hear a sample of Kiss music to help him decide if I could go, so I played him "Beth" lol.
Lol
smart choice LOL
Nice reaction, they call themselves the worlds hardest working band, large catalogue of great rock and roll. Surrender, voices, dream police, so many more.
Take the Beatles, mix in some power pop, a bit of punk and a sense of humor, and you have Cheap Trick. Love them.
Cheap Trick has hundreds of hits. This is thier only #1 i think. They are so diverse as well.
Voices
Mandecello
Taxman, Mr. Thief
Dream police
And many, many more... that 70's show were all alright.
Cheap Trick was/is, a GREAT Band!
Lots of hits in the 70's, early 80's.
Great reaction!
The biggest Bud on the Cheap Trick tree is aint that ashamed from the MTV awards show that's cook a** stuff there
Have you ever heard of Cheap Trick doing the song gonna raise hail? You messing out if you
But that show at the MTV musical awards 1980 or 810 d*** I aint that a shame song that was doing did they come out smoking and never quiet how right I'll write
This is a power ballad.
Cheap Trick is your favorite bands favorite band !
My sons were teens the first time they saw Cheap Trick. They opened for Def Leppard and my youngest wanted a Cheap Trick shirt, not Def Leppard. He still has that shirt and they're both in their 20s
Hi, One of my favorite bands😁Their Iconic album & song is Live at Budokan with Surrender. My friend is friends with Bun E. Carlos the Drummer. They have epic concerts and have been at it for like 45 years😎
A little soft Ballad showed off Robin's voice. But to get a better idea of what this band is capable of you need to give "Need Your Love". They all shine and you see where they came from musically.
this is not a typical Cheap Trick song - try some of their early rocking songs....
They also sang "I want you to want me " if that song hits your memory
They didn’t like this song and didn’t want to record it. The record company wanted a hit single from them and said there wasn’t one on the new record. The record company brought in an outside writer and this is the song the record company force them to do. It became their biggest hit.
The song’s not a sample just similar chorus.
Great song. Great concert. I Want You To Want Me is great.
The blond is the singer. The drummer is the guy with the mustache Bun E. Carlos, who drums with a
cigarette in his mouth. They had hits in the 70s and 80s. A couple of songs from the 70s "I Want You to Want Me" and "Dream Police". They also sang the theme song to "That 70's Show" staring the second season. The song was "In the Street", which is a cover of a song by Big Star.
Left to right...singer, guitar player, bass player, drummer.
Check out the live version from the Houston astrodome 1989..... It's great, and robin zanders vocal performance is really great
The voice is Robin Zander the blonde.
Singethos has great voice of time great live ba
This was the first single off of their 10th album.
Some of my favorite cuts of all time are these ballads that the heavy rock bands did to break up their sets. White Snake's 'Here I Go Again' tops that list! 😁
The blond is the lead singer robin zander
1988....my fav song by them.
July 10, 1988 it was number one in the US and Canada. I am a Canadian born on July 10, 1988 and I absolutely love this song
Such a great song 🎵
More Cheap Trick please : )
Cheap Trick
Surrender
Dream Police
She's Tight
If I had to choose a power ballad, it's this one. Robin Zander's gorgeous heartfelt vocals...
Cheap Trick hated this song and never wanted to record it. You have to understand that Cheap Trick was a rock & Roll band (This wasn't a Cheap Trick style song) and didn't do ballads. But, with the persistence of their manager and the record company it was recorded and became one of their biggest hits.🤓
I tell you what aint that a shame is the song and it was at the MK paid music awards they're doing it live there d*** aint that ashamed by Cheap Trick at the MTV that was some stuff now
I'll tell you I'll leave to Brewer and shipley and I'm gonna head and I want to hidden dead me a one toke and now I'll lock about a shell that was a group called ready for the world they had a song called OH Sheila o'sheilaI'll tell you I'll leave to Brewer and shipley and I'm gonna head and I want to hidden dead me a one toke and now I'll lock about a shell that was a group called ready for the world they had a song called OH Sheila o'sheila Oh s***
Great band try Ain't That A Shame from Live at Budokan, If You Want My Love, Southern Girls
Should do their cover of Ain't that a shame.
Check out "Mighty Wings". From movie Top Gun.
Slow dance in the rain. How romantic! Great song, great reaction. Glad you guys are still at it. You are one of my favorites. Keep keeping it real guy's.
Robin Zander - Blonde guy is the singer
Song is early 90's I believe
Cheap Trick is one of the really great American bands. Must have seen these guys a dozen times over the years.
Oh the memories!
I’ve seen them live 3 times of the duration of their career, the most recent time was just last year and it will definitely be the last.
So friggin loud you couldn’t make out a word or note of any song. Would not recommend lol
I don't think this was a song I cared for too much back in the day but now that I have mellowed out a bit , I can appreciate it a lot more, but they have a lot better songs than this, and their live performances are very entertaining.
A spectacular vocal performance by Robin, even though not a top Cheap Trick song for me
If you liked this and that era, you should listen to The Firm's "Midnight Moonlight Lady". Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin with Paul Rodgers of Bad Company.
One of those songs I didn’t like as a teenager, but love it as an adult 🤷♂️
It's the blonde
A favorite
I'm absolutely blown away that you have never heard Cheap Trick! How!?!?
You was blowed away? One toke ONE toke Is that the song you sing?

The official video is completely awesome, please check it out. U will be pleasantly surprised
☮️❤️🔥🔥🔥🎵🎶🎵...😏
Brewer and shipley they got the song called 1TOKE over the line by Brewer and shipley
Saw them in concert in Oakland CA in 89. They were phenomenal 🎵❤️. Left with a swollen hand and one of Nielsen’s Picks.. also singed hair 😂. When this song was played everyone got out their lighters 🔥 and 80’s was AquaNet days LOL 😂😂
1988... 🔥🔥🔥
I saw these guys live 2 years back, they are all in their 70's, great show.
1988 Daytona is still the best version, not often live is best, but in this case, its killer, Cheap Trick is an awesome band, can't go wrong dropping into this rabbit hole. Robin Zander, Bunny E Carlos on Drums very unique, Rick Neilson, just unique like so many 70s bands and they carried into the 80s with this hit, class, talent never dies.
Brewer and shipley one toke over the line yep that's the song it's by Brewer and shipley 1 toe
They was sitting downtown at a railroad station one toke
Yeah bro and shipley they do want to
ON ETO KE1 took
Robin Zander the blonde haired guy is the singer. Unbelievable voice.
Take me I'm yours, mandocllo, all those years, smile, everybody knows, it all comes back to you, all we need is a dream ,world greatest lover ..Robin Zander greatest singer ever..
A hall of fame band doesn't sample from Richard Marx. Omg
The band hates this song. They were forced to record it and other songs by their record label. This and several others on the album were not written by the band. They regret doing it but at the time their backs were against the wall as their popularity had died and they were at the mercy of the label. They have much better harder songs than this lightweight track. Try Surrender, Southern Girls, Big Eyes, Dream Police. This song is not an indication of the Cheap Trick sound. Good song but…..
Kid rock said there are bands that think they play great live, but he said, then there is Cheap Trick. There was a time when they played 300 shows a year because the just love to play.
Turn down the lights and sway with lighters kind of music!
My favorite song by Cheap Trick right here.
Robin(blonde) has a bald spot on the back part of his head. This happened when my sister who was 14 at the time lifted him off the ground by his hair as he exited the stage in those island. I always wanted to apologize to him for that. My sister( RIP)was a killer when it came to scalping. Robin Zander her husband has the same bald spot. Lol
The blonde is Robin Zanders. Hes lead singer
Search mark madriaga from philippines🙏
Robin Zander is so good!
A pure legendary and huge hit single that was a bit of a comeback for the band!
The MTV musical awards I think it was 1980 or 81 Cheap Trick doing aint that a shame oh yeah
I'm thinking you might remember one toke TOKE1TOKE?
Brewer and shipley they do the song called one toke
One toke over the line by Brewer and shipley 1 toke
ON ETO KE1 toke
I want you to want me is great by cheap trick
Wilburn is right. The blond guy is the lead singer.
Many were conceived to the in the 80’s!
Sagan kick now that's a group that you don't hear much of anymore but at the time they had a kick a** sound Sagan kick
They were blazing at the MTV musical awards I think it was 1980 the song they did was aint that a d*** d*** d*** thing all they was ready to go that night that's for d*** sure
