It puts less pressure on Sega to market their new Sonic games and even can inspire people to buy the game simply because of the mod support (like people buying Generations and even Forces to try out the mods people made for the game, meaning more sales for Sega). Since it'd otherwise cost them a fortune and Sega made it clear they won't port games that "didn't do so well" or "are too much effort to port" given thier history with that.

As a fan of OG Secret Rings as it was, I felt like a lot of the small details of what made the Storybook games so cool in the first place seemed muted in the first update we got before. I'm glad the dev was able to incorporate some of those details into this new demo, I honestly like this remake even more than I did before. The updated animations and reworked stage does wonders imo

It really was a unique experience, likely that inspired the ultra popular Sonic Dash and Forces Speed Battle, and I LOVED how they handled the EXP and ability equip system since you have to really customize Sonic based on the mission, not just giving him the best stats and expecting to Gold medal. Plus Party mode is a BLAST with friends (it was broken, but that's what made it so funny...and the closest thing we'd get to Sonic Shuffle 2, the most underrated game gosh ever...). I'd really love a reason to play this again! Unlike Free Riders, which I feel was designed with Kinect in mind and controller, while fine to support, would make the game way too easy, I feel Secret Rings benefits well from controller support as while it was a novel experience, even I feel like the motion controls kind of hurt more than helped in a lot of the more precise missions, especially as the game got faster paced. Though having the option would be nice none the less if possible.

I already liked the original Sonic and the Secret Rings and I didn't even grow up with it. The motion controls were actually my favorite part of the game. You might say I'm entitled but the truth is, I'm biased. Even though I didn't grow up with this specific game, I did grow up, almost exclusively, with the Wii. Even to this day, standard analog control is foreign to me. Despite all that, this Reignited version is still the better game. It fixes the rail grinding and smooths out even the controls that worked perfectly fine in the original. It even tweaks some camera angles for better visibility and adds new songs that actually try to be in line with the game's aesthetic and energy.
Yeah sometimes alternate gameplay styles is at least worth trying. I think the biggest complaint about it is mostly how sluggish it feels in the beginning and how hard it is to control near the end, but like Sonic Free Riders, it really is better to experience it with the gimmick it was designed for (well MOSTLY Free riders, the game is FAR too easy with a controller, and kind of defeats the purpose of reacting to the gimmicks if you're just moving a control stick around). Hopefully they find a way to add Wii mote support for those who want to experience it as it was. There was quite a challenge to be had physically reacting to what was going on.
the project is looking amazing! but I do have a lot of nittpicks that hopefully can get fixed, an example of this is the sense of speed IS SO WEAK, compared to the actual game, one of the coolest bits of SATSR is the fact that it probs has the fastest sonic ever by sense of speed alone, and this compared to the base game looks way too slow even with max lvl skills like on this demo. Another thing I noticed is how quick the speed break bar consumption is much more strong and charging it takes surprisingly longer. Plus how weak the actual speed boost you get from it compared to the og game. Project looks insane tho, I just hope that amazing sense of speed isn't left out, otherwise imo its gonna miss out the best part of the game 😭

THANK YOU! I feel the same way. I liked the vocals. Sonic is one of the few franchises that can legitimately play music with vocals as background music and really pull it off. Heck I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic DEFINED the genre of having vocalized music as background music for action stages. It feels weird not hearing them.
I really hope eventually we get something like this for Black Knight, especially if they keep the option to use motion controls and make it so the sword controls more like how the sword in Skyward Sword does. That'd be so sick. But tbh I'm just happy my favorite sonic games are getting any love at all from the fans.
Finally we don't have to play Sonic & The Secret Rings on Dolphin anymore, I hope they also add an option to switch to the Secret Rings Model just like you can switch to the TGS Model in P06
I figured you can, this remake looks to be 1:1 accurate to the original just with a bit of physics and UI clean up and some visual enhancements here and there.
Again, I Appreciate the sheer effort put into this, but at the end of the day… it’s still Sonic and the Secret Rings, and it’s major setback was the very premise it had (which was the Motion Controls). Taking that away with a more traditional control scheme in it’s place is further proof that this game is flawed on a fundamental level. All it looks like now, to me, is a boost game without the boost.

While it's not my favorite game, Secret Rings was my first game. I am happy to see that the game is getting the fan remake treatment like Sonic 06

Dinosaur Jungle is one of my favorite levels in this Sonic game, the waterfall 4:55 and running on the vines was the best part 5:30 .

No, Reignition is made in Godot while P-06 is made in Unity. Frameworks are completely different as well.
