I was watching one of your other videos and stumbled across your first vanilla orchid post, and immediately purchased one! Just received it in the mail, and your videos are very helpful!
How is your vanilla orchid doing now? I just planted one indoors with a 2x2 12 foot cedar post that I cemented into a planter. I can’t wait to see them climb!
Thank you so much I just bought up vanilla orchid about a month ago and someone from a nursery and some of the leaves have died I have to repote I have to repart it but I did not know how to thank you for your video and it's a tree bark in the middle of the and the roots have grown into the tree bark and I arc and I don't know what to do I wish I could send you a picture
I am having success/failure I believe at the same time with my vanilla orchids. I received 2 rooted cuttings where one had damaged roots during shipping. I nursed them back to health (somewhat) regrowing roots etc. But they are definitely taking their time, slow growing and are very light green. VERY light green where the leaves are almost a translucent white. I am currently trying different solutions to see if I can get them in the best growing environment that they prefer. So
Are you feeding? If so what a show much? How much light is your plant getting? You want the leaves to be a light green. Too dark tells me they aren't getting enough light, while very light green to a greenish-red typically means they're getting too much. I know with these guys they typically are at home with about 12-16 hours of bright filtered light. With mine, both my regular and variegated ones love artificial LEDs. This has helped mine put on some major mass. If you are interested check out the link in my description box of any of my newer vids and see the ones I use for my orchids. They're full-spectrum and they're not expensive to purchase or to run. Otherwise, it's tough to get the right amount of light for them. Other than that make sure you water regularly and check your humidity levels. They like it around 50%. Keep an eye out for spider mites and mealybugs too.
@@TheGreenAlchemist you know what? They probably aren't getting enough light. I have some grow light that I really pinched pennies for.lol and it's most likely not enough light. Then again, I am also not feeding them. I fed them once after they were first "recovered" and burnt them so bad. I am still very new to all of this in a way and boy has it been a rollercoaster. I have always had plants, but never took the time to really look into their care or even background. Lol they all by some miracle just survived thru my care or lack of. Lol anyway. Thanks to videos like yours, they are doing more than survive and actually thrive. So, I am forever grateful. I will for sure look up those videos, and get that light. I'm ready to do right by my plants now. Lol thank you so much. I am so glad you replied and made me realize what the issue most likely is. Thank you a thousand times:):)
Well good! Hopefully changing those around will help them thrive! If you have any more questions or problems at all just shoot me another message. If you need to get ahold of me quicker dm me on Insta at ytgreenalchemist. I get to those messages quicker. Good luck with everything and plant prudently!
I have a variegated vanilla orchid and I bought it as a plug so , pretty small. But I have had it for about 4 months now, (I bought it Sep.2nd) and I must say it is growing SLOW. Like, very slow! I was worried so I put it in LECA. So far it seems fine. Healthy, just still tiny! lol. I have it under a grow light and near my humidifier so I'm doing the best I can. Is the variegated known for being a slow grower? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the video, I want to buy a regular green one now. I love yours!
Hey, ive watched several of your videos and I heard you say you live in Kentucky..i just moved to Indiana and grow about 100 or so inside, the majority are paphiopedilum orchids, if you would ever want to trade orchids i would be interested. Ive also got some starfish cactus.

Should clear all that other stuff of the table so we can actually see what you're doing.
