I am also impressed with your build of the panel saw! I know this is an older video, now - and you mention in comments that you have a newer design. If you still have them, I would love to receive a copy of your DIY plans as well! [edit: email removed - plans received]
amazing !!!im from cancun mexico and we dont have all the parts to make it but im waching all the vertical panel saw videos to take the best way to make it
Great job you did on that panel saw! I think I recognize the way that it attaches to the pipe as a ShopNotes version, I will have to look for plans. What modifications have you made to improve the original plan?
very clever consruction seems to be very handy and easy to use i prefer a vertical panel saw because its much safer than a table saw may you always keep your ten fingers best regards from germany
Thanks for the plans. I see you have a few tweaks on the original plans. If you were to make another, are there any other changes you would make? Do you find when making a ripcut/horizontal cut you have the top board trying to bind the blade? Is the horizontal rest for the board sacrificial on vertical cuts?
yes it took about a week to get all the parts together and it was basically done using the Shop notes design with a couple of alterations to that ,glad you liked the saw
Great design. I see below you are willing to send plans. What type format are they in? I use Sketchup mostly, but let me know please. Again, great design and execution.
Hi Alex, Fantastic piece of equipment - I've been think of building something similar for a while now. Two questions: 1) When doing a length-ways cut (horizontally), what if the cut you need to make happens to be right over one of the horizontal supports, above the mid-fence? Won't you cut into it? 2) Similarly, when doing a cross-cut as you demonstrated, don't you cut into the fence?
Great job. I assume that you could also make an adapter for a router? I have been thinking of this for awhile and think for the investment and for limited space, this would be a better option then a table saw. Do you charge for the plans? Thank you for your time
This Panel Saw looks like the same plans that appeared in Woodsmith magazine 8/2014. It looks like you have different verticle guides, added rollers on the lower rail & your upper guide is pipe rather than 1-1/4 EMT. I ordered a set of plans but have not started my build yet. I plan to rotate my saw via a center point & locking pin (raise the blade & plunge in zero clearance slots) I hope it works) Good build, how long did it take you to complete?
This is the best budget sliding panel saw vid iv seen, there is a guy whos made a computerised one which is also fantastic but this saw will appeal and satisfy many woodworking enthusiasts. thank you so much for sharing.. if you would be willing to sell me a copy of the plans so that i may copy some of the ideas for my own id be very grateful, thank-you.
Hi there the timbers behind the panel being cut are sacrificial and come time will need replacing these are still the same ones iam using on the saw from the first day i started using the saw and as yet havent replaced any.hope this helps
Alex, Very nice construction! Where can I find the shop notes design you used? Thanks for your video. You wife did a good job with the camera and sound also. Reuben
This is great design. Would it be possible to have the plans please? Also one silly question, what happen when you have to make a cut that ends directly on a back support stud?
@AlexPSNB Alex can you post a couple pics of the rollers and the central support you added . we are getting ready to bhuild one that will handle 5X5 sheets for the NortheastWoodworkers shop near albany ny.
Good day, i wonder if you will still have the plans for this machine... Could you please let me know if you do, i used to have my own woodworking company, and due to financial problems was forced to sell all my equipment... Im thinking of trying again. but dont really have the money to do so... PLEASE help me!!!
Hey brother great job done here, I would gladly purchase one if you would be willing to sell one except the saw I have two. Which is why this project would be good to use one on.
Dear Sir, I am gathering all the material to build a similar saw, thank you for your video and details about it. Can you please tell me the kind of spring you used to compensated the weight of the tool ? They look like garage door springs but the wire diameter of these is always too big and the springs are too stiff. Thank you for your help. Best Regards, John
John Martin it was the type that is used on the old type of chest expanders. My latest saw that I built uses the rubber bungee cord and it works just as well
Thank you very much for your answer, I just found a used "brand new" arm stretcher with 3 springs 2km from my home for 5€. Thank you for the tip ! Building of the saw can carry on...
Hello, I repeat my congratulations ..... that good work, the best I've seen, and I wrote a year ago and now I would like to know if you can sell those plans, excuse the insistence.

That's very well made.
Is this based on the plans that Shop Notes had?
Desde Colombia gracias
Very Good Job I like It.....
what happen at the end of an horizontal cut when all the weight of the upper piece of wood push against the sawblade? What prevent this?
Excelente trabajo....Podrías facilitarme los planos y medidas...Gracias
At 8:04 what prevents you from cutting into the resting board (where your panel rests on the rack).
