    Honestly, I cannot thank you enough for making and posting this video.
    As someone with anxiety problems, I was worried about my first trip on Eurostar. However, having seen you both calmly and happily going about the check-in procedures and travel on the train in such a relaxed manner, has really helped.
    This may sound strange, but you both seem to be in your own bubble of joyful, relaxed calmness throughout the video, and carry that bubble with you. I realise that’s what I have to do. Watching this really has taken away much of my worry, so thank you both for being yourselves.

      Bill this was such a lovely comment to read. To be completely open and honest, Charlotte has her own issues and anxiety around travel and she considers train journeys to be far less stressful than travelling by plane or bus. She also uses the same method as you to overcome those anxieties by watching other people go through the process to mentally prepare for what’s to come. We’re so happy that we have helped you in that way and we are wishing you the most wonderful trip away ❤️🙏🏼😁 Cory and Charlotte 🥰

      If you haven’t taken that Eurostar train yet,my advice is to try and settle down as best you can. It’s a beautiful experience. So smooth,quiet and fast. I thought an announcement would be made upon entering the tunnel but there was none. Once you’re out of the tunnel you can take in the beautiful sights. I actually saw a sheep herder along the countryside. That was awesome.

    The train is MUCH better than flying. For starters, it’ll put you right into the city center both ways. Flying into CDG will require money spent to travel into Paris. It’s easier to get to the station to catch a train than it is to get to the airport. The security line moves quickly. Passport control handles your entrance and exit both ways, so once you’re off the train, you just go. It’s easy.

    Thanks for the thorough walkthrough! Can appreciate it's not the easiest thing to grab footage whilst you're on the go transiting.
    Was just wondering with the luggage berth capacity, were there any people having to fend their luggage for themselves due to the luggage berths being too full?
    Will be making the exact same trip on boxing day this year, so a little anxious as to whether it'd fit everyone.
    On a more technical note: Cory, do you shoot in v-log and colour correct in post or is this straight out of camera?
    Must say the stab for handheld shots is pretty remarkable.
    Really appreciate the vlogs, will be visiting paris, vienna and budapest and those vlogs have been very helpful.

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Год назад +1

      Sounds like your going to be having an amazing trip! Albeit may be a little colder when you’re there 😅 the luggage situation is “first in, first served”
      In regards to shooting our vlogs, normally I shoot in the ‘Natural’ colour profile. And the stabilisation is very good on the GH5. I believe it’s even better on the GH6 and S1. Happy to answer any questions you have 😁

    • @Rukawasendoh117
      @Rukawasendoh117 Год назад +1

      @@cjexplores Thanks for the reply Cory :), right first come first serve, hopefully it works out, hoping for no strikes this year 😬.
      I'm a fuji user, but the handheld stab of micro 4/3 is always attractive esp. for run & gun (lol I hate using gimbals), nearly went with a G9, but it was a little too big for my liking.
      On travelling with cameras, how did you ensure quick access to the camera, whilst trying to keep handsfree? Did you use any bag clip or a peak design? See that you had a pretty sizeable grip and lens on the GH5 there in the eurostar reflection lol.

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Год назад +1

      @@Rukawasendoh117 if you get to the train earlyish you will have a better chance at getting on the train first 😉
      Panasonic have really nailed the handheld stabilisation that’s for sure! If you wanted to get something small but still high quality for video I would recommend a DJI Pocket 2. 4K on a 3-axis gimbal that fits in your pocket! If you’re going to shoot stills as well, maybe an interchangeable lens system would be more flexible for you.
      Our run n gun setup is changing constantly! Sometimes we take a big gimbal but other times I’ll take a Peak Design bag clip 😁 very handy! We had that on our 12 day hike through Spain and Portugal and it was so convenient!!

Is it maybe better to purchase a round-trip ticket in advance?

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Год назад +4

      Hi Bill! Best bet is to buy tickets beforehand online. However you can purchase tickets at St Pancras at the Eurostar desk, you may run the risk of missing out on a seat though, especially in the summer months! Security and check points are different. There are 5 steps to boarding; ticket check, security, English border police, French border police, and then getting on the train! At passport control it is usually automated (digital passport scan) anything suspicious will require you to speak to an agent. Events such as criminal convictions, banned from countries, removed from planes etc. If you purchase your tickets online or in person you will get to select your seats, so for two people you will select them together! Usually return tickets are cheaper in total than two one way tickets so we would go for that option! Hopefully that helps 😊🙏🏼❤️

      The customs part was very short. Only a couple of minutes. You can see how many people we had in front of us but by the time we got to the customs section most of those had been processed and were through to the waiting halls. If you wanted to try and gauge how many people were on your train and how busy it might be you could look to see how many tickets are left or sometimes train search websites will say “High Demand Expected” then you should give yourself an extra half hour or so I would say. Hope that helps!

      Hey! You go through passport control & security beforehand in London, there are no stops once you get to Paris, you can leave the train station immediately.
      Sorry I am not sure what you mean by travel card, do you mean for money?
      I'm not sure about checking in online before, we never have though. Usually when you arrive you queue until the access is open and then they will go through ticket/passport control. Sometimes we have been waiting for 30+ mins to board, other times we board with 2 minutes to spare. However, the Eurostar team do seem organised and they tend to make sure everyone is through checks on time! If you're there 60-90 minutes early, it's all good :) Enjoy!

When you go through passport control, are there different places/queues for uk passports, eu passports/non eu passports? I read that depending on what passport you have, you have to get your passport checked in a different queue.

      Hi Jasmine, exciting times ahead!
      It is super easy for transit through St Pancras station. First you scan your ticket. Then they put your luggage through an X-ray machine. After that comes the passport control. Now they just stamp it to say you are leaving England and you’re away.
      I imagine the only thing they are looking out for is if you have recently visited and are doing a quick visa run to get another 3 months in the Schengen Zone or in the UK. So as long as you aren’t coming and going a lot it will be very smooth 😊
