This gem and "The Light" Remix are the most brutal remixes Dilla ever made. Yea, it's Bonita's same sample, but the way he chopped it up and programmed it is absolutely ridiculous! Dilla is still here!
The ill vibe remix he made with Busta and Q-tip rappin on it was the craziest but this come close track is prolly second or third lol it’s hard for me bro he got too many bangers
It simply doesn't get better than this. This track holds a special place in my heart forever. Stunning beat, and stunning verses. Hard to top this one right?
Such a surreal combination of artists… it seems crazy that they might have all gotten in the same room and put their individual incomprehensible musical talents together… even just for one session. It’s amazing, and frankly mind-blowing.
Nope, because I would have been REALLY madd at that album lol Imagine that?! The only dope hip hop like beat? U woulda been pissed when the rest of the album didn't *Come Close* lol. At.least Neptune version was weird enough to blend un with all that other Really weird shit
Pharrell has ALWAYS given up to Dilla. Think about this. Q Tip is on this too. Q Tip being a dope producer in his own right made Bonita Applebum. Which Dilla is clearly honoring with this song. Q Tip kind of brought Jay Dee into the mainstream. And he basically gave up a large part of his production work to Dilla. With Dilla producing whole records for him. He's not the only one who would do it. RZA once said that if Dilla was still alive and he wanted to retire, he would give all of the Wu Tang production over to Dilla. The amount of love and respect for Dilla from fellow music producers is endless. He is the only musician and producer that Dr Dre shouted out on The Defiant Ones. Dilla was truly your favorite music producers favorite music producer.
Dilla actually did another remix of this which switches to 3/4 measure, I really wish I could find it clean. Thanks to Houseshoes, even though he really overdid the watermarks... ruclips.net/video/MbbTqI33OPE/видео.html
That’s a sitar not a saxophone my guy but I feel you lol. Dilla’s reworking of Q-Tip beats/samples is amazing. His version of Tip’s remix of Get Down by Craig Mack is one of my favorite examples of that amongst many others. I think it’s named “Get Dat Nug” here on YT
The sitar noise is from Rotary Connection. Speaking of Dilla honoring Tip productions, his flip of TWO different versions of “Inside My Love” on the “Look Of Love” remix is just daaaaamn!
@@PaulPawlPall That’s a great example! That’s one of my favorite beats - the first Fantastic vol. I had to have played several thousand times as a kid. Blew my mind and it’s what got me into beatmaking and for sure many others no doubt. The thing about Dilla using samples is that there is this certain mystique and quality to it one can’t really put their finger on in a purely logical way. Someone could go on all day saying that it’s the EQ, compression, saturation, layering, sample choice, etc......but it isn’t really just that, is it? This might sound profound or even funny to most just getting into Dilla or (god forbid) not truly appreciating who he was, but he put a certain spiritual essence into his beats that one would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. He literally put his soul into what he made, so much to the point that whatever sample, no matter how obvious, vicariously became a product of his mind. One could say “that’s just sampling” yet I guarantee you I’ve seen so many people try to recreate his beats and there’s always something or several things missing. And plus he’d make them in 15 minutes or less lol. To me he is the standard when it comes to the saying “hard work beats talent, unless talent works hard”. I think we all know his otherworldly talent and how hard he worked his ENTIRE life at the craft. When visionaries leave this plane, they leave an unfillable void in the hearts of everyone they touched.
This prolly my fav Pharrell verse, it’s everything about early Pharrell rhymes straight innuedo shit just listen to frontin chorus. This one of the greatest remixes ever, I like the original but I love this shit
@@dillasoul2228 I'm not saying that it wasn't unheard of, I'm discovering for myself differences that I didn't see the first time I heard it! I don't need you for validation on a discovery.
Common? Badu? Tip? Pharrell? On the same joint? That’s a hit kid!!!

holy fuck me. the genius in this track is beyond words. RIP dilla. pharrel, common, and q tip are my mans.
No I.D., Premo and Pete Rock are up there too. That whole generation is inspirational for my life.

Kasino Marxs
Noooo
We need Pharrell and Mary.
Nah. I love dillas work. But the Neptune's version, with Mary was fire bro. This version is a close second though.
💯
Nope, because I would have been REALLY madd at that album lol

Think of this: Pharrell rapped on a DILLA beat... and Pharrell doesn't normally rap on any songs that he didn't produce
The Cre88tor This right here! This is that artist respect.

I think that Dilla did this remix so dope cuz he was kind of dissapointed of the beats he produced on Electric C
