Glad I saw this, I was going to say the same thing. You don't put GRASS next to a dragstrip. That strip was not setup for this level of cars, not wheelstanders like that.... any other day of the week that track would be better than not having one at all, but not for these cars.
I come here all the time and we race here at least once every two months it’s just a shame to see that happen but y’all know just as good as I do it happens. They got the red wagon up and running again they’ve got a couple but this car has been done rebuilt and back on the track since this

I've been drag racing over 45 years and nothing makes more happy other than family than building and racing 1320ft, I can't explain it but it is like a drug allways wanting to go faster, I only wish I could afford to do it again, I guess I'm limited to only watching it now, I'm glad it has gotten so popular on T.V. and I can get my fix on the internet and TV but a man can allways wish.
I love wagons. I had an 85 country squire ford with the two co -facing seats in the back. Puy a 302 mustang motor n it. The kids would fight over who rode n the back.
Now all you good ole boys can say what you want .. BUT he knows like I know that's what happens when you start sawing back & forth on the steering wheel in a panic we OVER correct because we can't fight that crazy urge to over steer the car and that's what happens . It happens on every track I've been on ... Some guys are better at it then other's some fight that urge and STOP it from rotating around and over correcting with light steering inputs that save them from the wall ...Shame That car was a crowd favorite

Their replicas of old school gasser drag cars from the 40s - 60s. That was when drag racing was in its infancy so they obviously are going to be slow. That jacked up front suspension is for nostalgia not performance.
They actually make decent power for what they are. A Gas automatic cars can run mid 10s and quicker in classes like SS/AA some them cars can go 8s-9s. That is not slow. Especially for the rules they have to follow.
