- I played around with the synths when I got the idea to make a quick & dirty cover of "Before We Drown" from the new Depeche Mode album Memento Mori. When first listening I rated this song as my favorite from this album.
they are crazy not to play this live. very strange

Yeah, was gutted that they didn't play this on the recent tour. Saw them at Twickenham, was still great, but easily the best track on the album.
Agree- this along with people are good are great songs in the new album that should take priority over “Everything counts” and “Personal Jesus”. Songs we’ve heard a million times live already.
It's because fans demands them to play those tired out hits that I bet they are tired of playing as well. There's only so much time they have to play during a gig and they don't want to disappoint the fans.

Your sequence is too good, love! Check, what type of synth or sound did you use at second 28/29, it also appears at second 38/41 and at the end of your sequence from 1:41 to the end. it is appreciated
Thanks mate. For the lead sound you mentioned I used my Vermona Synthesizer, a vintage analog 2-voice monosynth. I can't remember the exact settings (the Vermona can't save user presets) but the patch should be recreatable on any synth that has square waveform with rather narrow pulsewidth, glide/portamento and 2 voices (Moog Model-D, Pro-1, ...) Open filter and little/none resonance. Second voice is 1 octave lower than first voice. Smooth attack and some release, I put some delay/reverb on top. I hope this helps.

I'll see what I can do. "People are good" has sort of an abstract instrumental base. On the other hand, it excites me to build a version without those awful unnecessary scratching noises in the background 😆
@@synthfluencer played this album to death since release. It's their best since ULTRA for me, lots of Black Celebration,Speak and Spell and Construction Time Again sounding synths on it. Not keen on Caroline's Monkey and Soul With Me, other than those it's a great return to form. opening synths on People Are Good are groundshaking, such an awesome sound. Still trying to bag a few tickets for Twickenham in June but crazy prices!

I don't think that's the problem; I think they just picked the wrong producer who apparently did fuck all apart from soak everything in reverb.
