Such fragile moments of grace immortalized on film! Thank you for this ineffable beauty :) I love these photographs based on certain choice performances. We see the intensity, the concentration, the amplitude in the action. The face speaks as much as the body, expressing itself during flights coming from the depths of one's soul and other postures. Compliments and with admiration for the exquisite sensitivity of the choice and your arrangement of mesmerizing images and music : ) Splendor, meditation, freeze frames and dream moments. So fleeting, everything passes, just celestial and divine moments which remain in our memory and which we cherish like a sweet, happy melancholy. With admiration

I am reminded of the story of Icarus. Thank you, Pam, for your amazing videos. We are lucky to have witnessed the history of his career so far, and triply (or more) lucky to have the benefit of your hard work to help us remember a very special time. ♥️

Thank YOU. It is my pleasure. I am so glad that people enjoy my videos. Ballet to me is the most beautiful and ephemeral of the arts. It exists in a single moment in time and is gone. No painting or sculpture or song is left once it's done. It's gone. I want to help preserve these flashes of brilliance. It would be tragic if they were allowed to just fade away.

Polunin's jump at around the :50 mark is spectacular. The camera angle exaggerates the height, but still there is a lot of air underneath him. It's feats like that that reminds me to pick up my jaw. Glad there are so many videos out there of him to watch.
Welcome back, Pam. So good to see you posting again. Hope all is well with you and the little one.

@@catmckiernan892 Maybe but it ruined his career. The ROB wasn't really a prison. He could've negotiated some freedom. He was still too young and rebellious. Too bad.

It seems likely you haven't followed Sergei's work for some time or else you would have realized that several of these shots, including one of the opening shots (Time stamp :41) were taken from performances he's done within the past 3 years. (I believe the :41 shot was taken at his performance of Bolero in Serbia in September 2021.) He may not dance the kind of ballets some people want him to, but he's still very capable of spectacular jumps full of dynamic beauty and precision and the kind of lines and shapes that make you want to hold a moment from them in your memory like a framed a work of art.

@@catmckiernan892 Yes! He has several productions he's created since 2019 I'd really like to see live. (Bolero is one of them.) And he'll be involved in several new shows this year! "Crime and Punishment" in June, a Polunin Ink production. And he's supposed to perform opening night for the Sevastopol Academy's "Snow White", also in June. And in July he's supposed to be performing the lead in "Wuthering Heights" a new ballet commissioned by Sevastopol Opera and Ballet Theatre , choreographed by Jonah Cook. He's always busy and seems happiest when he's collaborating on something new.

@catmckiernan892 I thought I'd answer your question and comments that you sent to me on a separate comment here, rather than have someone else have to follow our back-and-forth. 😄 Yes, I have seen that Making of Bolero documentary. And yes, I thought he and Ross collaborated really well together and am sorry they aren't able to right now. Ross is especially good at giving Sergei a variety of styles to work with (Dante: Inferno, Bolero, In Your Room, Little Red and the Wolf, Fraudulent Smile, etc.) which I think helps Sergei enjoy his dancing more, since he likes trying new things and likes a challenge.
I'm not from the UK (I'm from the USA) but I do know of other fans from there who have traveled to see Sergei perform (they went to Sochi for Master & Margarita last summer) and they had a very good time. But yes, travel there during these times would be stressful. Doable, but stressful.
And Sergei has made it clear that he himself would prefer not to have to choose one part of the world over another, especially after he had worked so hard to build bridges back to London and other Western countries in 2021 and a balance seemed so possible. But he was forced to make a choice by his promoters and partners in the West and from his interviews where he talks about it, I think I'm safe in believing I understand why he made the choice he did and I can respect it. But yes, it is a shame to see him lose the ability to collaborate with friends and other artists and, of course, to lose the ability to freely perform for those in his wider audience who would still be happy to see him dance, regardless of politics.
You asked if I'd seen "A Day in the Life of..." but I'm sorry, I'm not sure know what video you're referring to. I have seen a short video that might have had that same, or a similar name that followed his day while he was still with the Stanislavsky and Novat Ballet companies. Are you referring to that? I think he might have been rehearsing for Swan Lake. There was also a "Play In a Day" where he choreographed a dance in one day with two dance students for a graduation program in London. I've seen a lot of different videos of him over the past 4 years! 😄
(And if you haven't already come across it at some point, I have a Polunin fan channel and you're welcome to come and check it out if you're looking for even more Polunin content after enjoying Pam's work here. I especially love to share a playlist page I've made that has videos of his ballets collected from all over RUclips and organized by ballet, years, etc. to make it easier for his fans to find good quality performances and whatever else they're looking for. )

Point is, they were his choices. If he's happy, it's not sad. It's not a shame that we can't trot down to Covent Garden and see him dance something he's danced hundreds of times. It's not a shame that he's taken the brave step of walking away. It's not a shame that he's following his own path. What is a shame is that we can't take a seat in the audience and watch him. I'd love to have seen The Master and Marguerite xxx

No doubts, genius! Everything is perfect! You say that is his right to chose his way. I have a lot of doughts. In Russia they were great masters to influence people and to make people do whatever government wanted them to do . There was a lot of tragedy in life of people there. He could have much more interesting life in the West, much more opportunities in different fields. He is really very gifted in everything except real life.
