    Coach, if you are a left handed spiker, what is the preferred side for spiking? Left side or right side. My intuition says it is better for left handers to hit on left side, but I'm finding articles on the opposite on the internet. Thanks.

      i’m a left handed spiker and my coach talked to me about how i do way better on the right side and it’s true because when i’m on the left side it’s a lot harder for the setter to remember i’m left handed and it doesn’t meet my hand correctly.

    • @Prosperityy42
      @Prosperityy42 2 года назад +3

      It's the right side because unlike right hand hitters you've got the option to rip it down line, and most defenses have to change for you specifically to stop it.

    • @MrPatrickbuit
      @MrPatrickbuit Год назад +5

      With a theoretical perfect setter, both sides are equally good. However, because a lefty is much harder to set to on the left side than a righty, in most situations it's preferable to hit from the right side. You have more margin on the right side, not only because your approach is from outside the court (meaning you'll have more time in the air where you can hit the ball in your sweet spot) but also because you'll be facing away from the net on the right side, so you can still hit an imperfect set down the line.
      If you're attack from the left and the set is not great, you are more or less screwed. You'll either have to hit super diagonally (which is hard because the field is so small there) or you'll be easy picking for the block. Hitting the ball down the line is not going to happen from that position because you're facing the net and it'd be extremely unnatural.

    It's possible to use both hands in volleyball spikes? 1st attack right arm then next attack left arms?

    • @mwtrolle
      @mwtrolle 4 года назад

      You can make it look like you will tip with the left hand and then hit it with the right hand if you are on the right side of the net. Or make it look like you will tip with your right hand and spike with the left if you are on the left side of the net.
      If you actually spike past the ball with the hand you will not be able to spike the ball with power, anyway as you are hanging wrongly for a spike with your bad hand, the opponent would probably not get cheated anyway.

    Hey coach donnie! I also record on my iPhone (XS Max) for volleyball videos. The camera always shakes when someone jumps even if the camera is far away. The wooden gym floor vibrates a lot. Is there a way to stop the vibration or to reduce it?

    • @mwtrolle
      @mwtrolle 4 года назад

      I love fast sets, high settings are only good if you jump higher then your opponent's block.
      Fast sets give the middle blocker to little time to close the block well enough, also on a fast setting you can watch the ball and the block and defenders at the same time.
      On a hight setting you have to look first and then hope they didn't move after you looked.

    • @mwtrolle
      @mwtrolle 4 года назад

      @@jacksonxiong7883 I agree run earlier, I usually run when the setter gets the ball if not before, it depends of what speed the setter can manage to set reliably at. Then if it's to slow, all take some speed out on the second step, or even stop after it. Then have use a one-step approach, it cost a bit of hight but not to much.
      Of cause, if you expect a high setting and get a fast one the only thing to do is to run faster. One more reason that fast settings are better, as you can better correct of the setting is bad.
      For instance, if you expect a high setting close to the antenna, and you get a faster one that are like 2 meters to short, then you will never reach it to spike it. If you use a fast setting and it gets short you just change direction a bit and speed up like hell.

      I know it is a year old question but basically it’s the same as a high set but your tempo is quicker, depending on the set your leave time changes, over time your will get the hand of it

      though he kind of does it wrong, I learned it wrong as a kid had have had bad shoulder problems like forever until i learned to do it right.
      1st for a right-handed, do not run from the line or outside the line when you spike in the right side of the net. Same goes for left-handed players smashing in the left side of the net. start your run from 1 meter or more inside the line. As it's important that you stop your arm in front of you, and not to your side, as then all the power you got in your arm are absorbed by a weak part of your shoulder. That is if you spike down the line usually that it will hurt your shoulder if you don't.
      On the other hand, it's important that you get at least 1 meter, preferably more outside the line if you are right-handed and spike in the left side of the net, or you are left-handed and spike in the right side of the net. Here it's if you spike diagonal it will hurt your shoulder if you start inside the line.
      Usually doing it wrong a few times is no problem, the problem is to do it wrong hundreds of times.

      Nothing of the sort would happen like that. It's just very difficult for a right handed person to do left handed ways, vice versa. Much harder so you'll need to practice a lot on your left hand to get it right but it'll never be as powerful as your right hand.

    If he does like he did hitting area 6 he will hurt his shoulder in the long run, or at least he has a big risk of doing so. He needs to turn his body so that his arm stops by his body and not by the shoulder. He did it right when smashing at 1-2 and 5.
    I speak from many years of experience, where I did it wrong and in the end, I had to get it scanned, the doctor said he was not sure it was a good idea I ever played volleyball again. But after that, I found some videos where they talked about propper spiking technic and I used a year or so to change it, now for the last 2 years I got almost no problems from spiking, even though I still have some problems in everyday use.

    • @mwtrolle

      When he approaches from the left side from outside the line it will be bad for his shoulder if he hit against position 1. Had he been right-handed it had been good.

    Jesus is coming soon! We are all sinners . We've all fallen short of His glory. The wages of sin is death (hell) that's what we all deserve. God is just, and because of that, He must punish evil. Jesus came and took our punishment and died (but rose again 3 days later) for our sins. All we have to do is repent and trust in Jesus Christ then we will receive the gift of eternal life in heaven . Time is ticking, but it hasn't ran out ❤️
