I love this song ... I remember when I first heard it at a party and I was in the hallway of this house and it stopped me in my tracks as I had a euphoric moment and a girl walked out from a room and approached me and said “ oh it got you too” and that girl is now the love of my life ... I live for these moments with music
This kind of song burrows into your brain and never lets go. Shimmering, silky, and memorable. This is on par with The Verve, Catherine Wheel, and Echo & The Bunnymen.
As a studio band definitely better than Oasis. They had 4 killer albums in a row. Oasis dipped badly after Morning Glory. Better than Radiohead is a tougher argument.
This song is emotional and has so much heart and soul, the snooty, tasteless people who put a thumbs down needs to wake up to music you don't hear on heart.
It's a rare occasion when a song makes you fucking stop in your tracks to find it out. The last one that me was Cotton Jone's song " Red Sentimental Blues". Too bad they are now extinct, but Micha Nau is still relevant. Enjoy.
I remember hearing this for the first time in the car and rummaged round to find a pen to write down the name like my life depended on it, very wise move!!
Lost Souls will always be my go to album. The different sonic sounds on each album just blow my mind every time I listen to them. Each one is a headphone masterpiece. Beyond excited for the new album. My son wanted to watch the Cathedrals of the Mind video 18 straight times.
This song underlines a time in my life and the times I spent with my wife and great friends. Bought our first house, Glastonbury, on the lash every weekend, kids, party's The Ute going to the tip with loads of rubbish… this was blasting out… to long lost friends!
I love the crescendo near the end. You think the song is about to finish then it kicks in. This is a timeless classic, sounds as fresh as it did when I first heard it more than two decades ago
Most underrated band ever seen them live 10 times only band I've ever listened too were I've never skipped a track the list is endless of top quality tunes and can I say it's great to see them back
Me and my gf just broke up after a year long relationship. We bacame a couple on Valentine's day 2019, and this song was playing in the background. This Valentine she celebrated with a new bf, and now I try to sleep alone but I can not do it. Life sucks sometimes, but this is still a great tune even if it makes me more sad than happy now.
Dude I’m going through the same thing and this song hits harder, family and friends told me that we need to have faith and hope that they eventually return, but my approach differs and I’m drinking myself to sleep every day, today is day 152 I’m hoping the body breaks before the mind
Heard this song while in an Uber. The lady was very chill and this was one of her songs. I had to pop out my phone & use Shazam (music recognition) & now I can’t stop listening to this. Shout out to this underrated band
Sat here realising that though Irish, this is my music. Being asked to pay €128 for a Pearl Jam ticket made me fall slightly less in love with them. I'd pay 500 quid tomorrow to see Doves.
Music defies borders, transcends petty nationalism and elevates us. Me? I'm happiest on the wild west coast of what's labelled Scotland, although being in the sandbelt of what's labelled North Carolina, then stood on the shores of the beach where the Wright brothers took flight, facing east feels good. No countries, music as religion. Take care
I've been listening to this song since the album came out when I was a teenager at school. Its been consistently one of my most listened to songs and still has the power to give me chills. The pulsing guitar track with the subtle reverb is awesome and just makes this song feel huge. An epic tune.
I remember getting Space Face on 12" vinyl when it came out. Pink Panther Records in Carlisle. I knew they were special back then. The Coast EP was next and Inside Of This still gives me goosebumps. Heard nothing for a few years then, one night when I was stoned and watching MTV2 (when it was good), this song came on. I had no idea they were Sub Sub. Loved it immediately and loved the band ever since. Beautiful song.
Doves and the Beta Band, who preceded them by a couple of years showed an interesting way forward with a blend of guitars and electronica but the old fashioned thrash-and- yelp of the Libertines, Bloc Party etc gained more traction at the time.

Awesome!

Powerful
Good music brings good people together ❤
Beautiful
This kind of song burrows into your brain and never lets go. Shimmering, silky, and memorable. This is on par with The Verve, Catherine Wheel, and Echo & The Bunnymen.
Great musical taste!!
This and Velvet Morning go hand in hand for me ...
Possibly my favourite song of all time
I'm with you. Def a masterpiece
Easily the best British band of the late 90s/2000s
Those first two albums are so so good.
better than Radiohead & Oasis?
As a studio band definitely better than Oasis. They had 4 killer albums in a row. Oasis dipped badly after Morning Glory. Better than Radiohead is a tougher argument.
Better than Oasis and as good as Radiohead
@@oldskooler9298I second this. ☝️
No bad Doves albums. Some Cities is the peak for me but all before and after are full of brilliant songs.
This song is emotional and has so much heart and soul, the snooty, tasteless people who put a thumbs down needs to wake up to music you don't hear on heart.
Heart is music for people who dont like music. Same as Radio (spits) One
It's a rare occasion when a song makes you fucking stop in your tracks to find it out. The last one that me was Cotton Jone's song " Red Sentimental Blues". Too bad they are now extinct, but Micha Nau is still relevant. Enjoy.
Listen to the full 7 min 38 sec version, it feels like a 3 min song. One of the best songs ever done. That bassline for a start. *Manchester!*
when this kicks in at the --and i tried to sleep alone-- part , if you don't get tingles you must be dead
iampunitan 👌💚💚
True
you are fucking right
It's a call to you...
17 years on and this track still gives me goose bumps...utterly beautiful
Same here emma 👌🏻❤️
Same here. Takes me straight back to the painfully lovesick age of 17 and all the potential I had no way to know I had.

Ooft man.. I was a little younger but if it hit me like a brick wall
26 years old The Cedar Room is now
I remember hearing this for the first time in the car and rummaged round to find a pen to write down the name like my life depended on it, very wise move!!
same here - hit me like a brick when i first heard it
discharge29 true words bud
Same here
The early version of Shazam 😊
Lost Souls is their best album still.
I like 'Some Cities' better, I think. But this freakin song alone puts them on their own mountain anyway.
Yup
Yes!
No disrespect to the last broadcast. This album is a masterpiece
Lost Souls will always be my go to album. The different sonic sounds on each album just blow my mind every time I listen to them. Each one is a headphone masterpiece. Beyond excited for the new album. My son wanted to watch the Cathedrals of the Mind video 18 straight times.
underrated song of the century, in my humble opinion
This band just makes gorgeous music. One of my biggest musical influences. Last album was fire.
Criminally underrated.... takes me back to being a carefree 18 year old
This song underlines a time in my life and the times I spent with my wife and great friends. Bought our first house, Glastonbury, on the lash every weekend, kids, party's The Ute going to the tip with loads of rubbish… this was blasting out… to long lost friends!

Most underrated band of all time. Incredible!!
Jimmy has a voice like honey. And just amazing emotional expression. So heartfelt. I only wish these guys made more music. Want. More. Pls.
Go this song on a NME free CD many years ago, and just wanted to here more. Got all the albums and seen them about 4 times.
Most underrated band ever seen them live 10 times only band I've ever listened too were I've never skipped a track the list is endless of top quality tunes and can I say it's great to see them back
Rob Cardwell couldn’t agree more, the last broadcast is the album for me and pounding is beyond 11/10
Extremely underrated
Ridiculously underrated.
Such a haunting sound. Missing the 90's..what a decade!
Quite possibly my favourite song of all time ❤

Better things are waiting for you @Frankzz Nerwerr there is no fail but learning ;)
You need to sort yourself out mate.
You will hear this song again with Joy in your Heart
Hey mate. Life goes on. And there are plenty more fish in the sea!
Dude I’m going through the same thing and this song hits harder, family and friends told me that we need to have faith and hope that they eventually return, but my approach differs and I’m drinking myself to sleep every day, today is day 152 I’m hoping the body breaks before the mind
This really torches my very being.... the whole first album is so beautiful.....
The lyrics give me chills
This record closed the 90's off perfectly. The Cedar Room is just one of the amazing songs from Doves phenomenal debut album.
I was 18 when I first heard this. Live on radio 1. Stuck with me all these years. Hauntingly good ❤
Heard this song while in an Uber. The lady was very chill and this was one of her songs. I had to pop out my phone & use Shazam (music recognition) & now I can’t stop listening to this. Shout out to this underrated band
miss 'em. Saw them live in Edinburgh 2009. Awesome. Finished with Caught by the river. Come on Boys. Come back and do what you do best.
Saw them w Elbow. Chills
it's criminal this song hasn't got a 100 million views!?!
The band, song, and video are timeless classics.

When music stops you in your tracks take notice, it's for a reason.
De mis grupos favoritos... quisiera regresar a esa época cuando la escuché por 1era vez, hace tantos años ya
So underrated. How can this song not move you. Absolute quality.
I wish this band new how much they have meant to me.
The best Doves song
Snowdon for me, my friend
My best friend in HS gave me this album and told me it would always be important to me. He was right.
💕 💕 💕 My fave of the 🕊 so beautiful, heartfelt, emotional albums.
Agreed 🌱🍉

I must learn this song, utterly beautiful
one of the most under-rated bands of all time
What a a band, fires in studios are underated, SubSub where also great btw.
all time classic of all time!!!
I heard this for the first time on a mancunian radio station in august 99 and I've been hooked ever since,my favourite song of all time
Massively underrated band
Lost souls such a diverse plethora of great tunes
Song of my Life!
This and all the other songs on this damn fine album are perfect!
Love this,Doves are a terrific band, probably one of the best bands around.Gget better soon Jimi.
If you ever lost someone special in your life you know this song
I agree, this song makes me see the face of someone I loved. I didn't tell them how I felt in time and they found someone else
Aye luv...
Dylan's " Time Out of Mind". In case you want to wallow in your misery. Great album regardless.
When this songs starts i always picture an old small mill town surrounded by pines and a cold morning fog.
Instrumentals are on point. A jam if there ever was on
Still here guys ❤
First heard of them when they supported oasis at wembley in 2000, bought the album and loved them ever since
Still a show stopper after all these years
What a song. Takes me back. The memories ❤
The album this track is taken from is some of their finest work.
Get well soon Jimi

The melodic drums and the Roland type twinkles are perfect
Just staggeringly good.

Oh my heart 💔
best song...EVER
jobe 76 that's a big statement but I couldn't agree more
Every doves's song are THE BEST SONG
Pity how this was overshadowed by Coldplay's Parachutes at the time. This was every bit as legendary.
This album smokes this piss out of anything Coldplay ever did
Brilliant track,love this band
It’s about time they get back together.
A weeks residency at the Roundhouse would be a great way to start
Great song, great band

The opening to this is very similar/remeniscent to the opening of Didjital Vibrations by Jamiroquai.
This is song is slightly perfect.
❤
Wheres the rest of it?
I listen to music like this all the time at work and my work colleges hate it!they don’t understand, kids have no taste
first heard in an all night coffee shop on Fairfax.
If you fuck with this listen to A Storm in Heaven by The Verve!! More shoegaze though
Don't make music like this anymore, so glad I grew up with music like this and not the crap that's music today
Top Gear Burma Special Pt2 anyone?
I came from top gear as well, but I came from bmw f10 m5 review.
Is there anything bigger than that chorus no there is not it is the biggerest
Lads and Lady's. When I put this on in my local. people thinks I'm a nutter because I like it,
