- The Search for Sam Spade" is a short film that follows a determined detective on a quest to find his missing mentor, Sam Spade. As he delves into a dark mystery, he encounters enigmatic femme fatales and confronts a relentless serial killer. I was inspired by the noir films of the 1940s, especially John Huston's "The Maltese Falcon," and paying tribute to the legendary Humphrey Bogart.
Thanks for watching!
Great noir homage!
I liked the appearances of the great figures of film noir, it surprised me.
Hey, Yamila! Thanks a lot for your feedback! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the cameos of the film noir figures. It was important to me to pay homage not only to Bogart but also to the femme fatales and other iconic noir actors on the investigation mural scene. I'm glad you noticed the little details I included. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I loved! I can perceive your talent to transmit your vision in each work. I feel you like a director directing an orchestra that increases its level of excellence more and more. The character of Humphrey Bogart very well achieved and worthy of his personality in all his successes. Congratulations on this gem of the noir genre!💎🎬👏👏👏👏😍❤
Thank you, my love! Your support and help with filming were crucial in making this film possible. Your encouragement means the world to me, and I'm grateful for every step we take together. I love you!
I love you with all my ♡
Great work!
Thank you! Your work is truly impressive! Hopefully one day i can do something at that level!
I appreciate your support and encouragement. Keep creating fantastic content!
😃 Fernando, you've crafted such a great story, both visually and through your narrative.
I love how you build the mystery and suspense throughout the plot.
Even better, we finally found out what happened to Sam Spade.
Thank you, Jim! I'm delighted you enjoyed the film and noticed the efforts in crafting both the visual storytelling and narration. Creating an engaging story with mystery and suspense was the goal, and I'm glad it resonated with you! Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I'm inspired to keep refining my storytelling techniques. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
@@nobudgetshortfilms5510 My pleasure, Fernando. I really did enjoy it.
This is superb Fernando! How you manage to pack so much narrative and meaning into such a compact form is amazing. The mise-en-scene is brilliant - that evidence board with it’s mapping of the noir genre! I really like the way you use transitional sections to add ‘time’ to the movie. While the appearance of Bogie at the end!!! I can’t imagine the amount of work that went into my this. Well done! And more power to you Fernando.
Thanks, Paul! I'm glad you enjoyed the film and appreciated the narrative-packed into a short time. It was definitely a challenge to achieve that editing style, but with some trials and errors, I managed to make it work. Funny enough, I got the inspiration from a skateboarding video and realized it could be applied to any style of video. Your positive feedback means a lot, and I'm excited to keep experimenting and creating more content like this in the future. Thanks again for your support!
Not bad!! The only problem (besides the obvious, over-consumption of alcohol, and cigarettes message) was dealing, with that voice. Who'd you hire; Corey Feldman😝?? I commend you, for being a Humphrey Bogart fan, at least👍!! My favorite, movie actor. Period.
Don't Bogie know, hollow points are illegal🤔!?
Hey, Roger! It's awesome to connect with another Bogey fan. I've been into film noir, including his work, since I was 12. He's also my favourite actor who ever lived.
Your critique is spot-on, and I agree with the points you raised. The alcohol and cigarette consumption were a bit overdone, perhaps influenced by watching too much of 'Lost Weekend' and being inspired by Ray Milland's performance. lol Looking back, I see it might not have been that necessary.
Regarding my voice, I also dislike how it sounds lol, especially since English isn't my first language. It's admittedly not the best voiceover, but I worked solo on this noir project, with just my girlfriend helping out with the camera in a few shots. I didn't have access to someone with a better voice, but I'm considering using AI-generated voices or collaborating with others for narration in future films.
Thanks for your valuable criticism. I'm dedicated to learning the filmmaking craft and am keen on utilizing constructive feedback to improve in my future projects. I definetly plan to reshoot this short film or some other Bogart tribute in the future when I gain more experience.
@@nobudgetshortfilms5510 Sorry, no malice intended. Love to also meet, other Bogie lover's. The voice wasn't too bad, just a bit deep (the Corey Feldman, remark) and slow, to follow. Keep trying and improving yourself😉👍!!! 'The Lost Weekend' is one of Ray Millands', best work. Good movie;4★'s.
