This BREAKS my heart. I was homeless, sleeping in my car for 4 mos with 2 boys and found it difficult to find help. Shelters were not an option due to the drugs and mental health issues... very dangerous. He said himself, to get help they had to participate in program. Yes. The participation in programs are designed to help, but you have to do the work. And when you're down and out, you have to work harder! Because of the help I had, I have an amazing apartment, a nice car, a great job and peace of mind. You have to work at life.
Exactly! In order to call it "success" they just changed the metric instead of pursuing what society would call success: restoring as many as possible to being healthy, productive members of society.
I used to be homeless in Bellingham 2011 to 2015 , camped out on Maplewood and Bakerview road was hard out there. I am from Tx had no friends or family in WA . Was addicted to ice . Its different there now but yet still the same just more homeless . I moved back home and am clean with a job now.Biggest problem in Bellingham for me was the cost of living and jobs there were none labor ready bs manpower was a joke and only one mission to sleep at rather sleep outside than sleep there. Why is there no Salvation Army?
