It always annoyed me that we never found out exactly where Alison disappeared to. And apparently nobody except for Aria's parents objected to her dating her teacher?
I think the writers were more interested in keeping fans on the edge of their seats, that they would just write multiple plot holes, and then not care to take care of the loose end
Keep making you feel like something is going to happen and that they have it all figured out and use both of those things to string you along all for it to end with nothing
PLL was riddled with plot holes. I'm most upset about Maya's storyline. I don't believe the copout answer: she knew her killer. So? What's that gotta do with Mona?
Well Maya didn't die in the novels, probably why it seemed so empty. Jenna and Toby also died in the novels (explains why their plot was kinda weird). Darren Wilden DIDN'T die in the novels. He had a brief trist with Ashley, but ended up with Melissa. Wren and Ezra's plots were MUCH smaller. Like Ezra was in the first one, but left after he found out Aria was his student. Mike (Aria's brother) ended up with Hanna. Emily was Bisexual (NOT completely gay). Spenser really didn't have much of a love life, and Aria, she had an on and off relationship with Noel Kahn. The novels and show are in a completely different Galaxy.
@@DryBones271 while I've not read all of the novels I've read a few (unfortunately not in order. That wasn't intentional btw). There was plenty of book material to draw from yet the writers decided to ignore so much that would've/could've been a more coherent, more tightknit story.
In the show Alison's "story" was also a nod to the plot of the Novel. Alison (the one from the novel, is a child of Saten (not really but she's THAT evil) the girl who was friends (or basically the show's Alison) was her twin Sister Courtney. The "twin" who was actually Courtney had a doll, Alison destroyed it, so Courtney had attempted to "kill her" but since she was small she couldn't and she was sent to a metal hospital. Years later Courtney had tricked her parents into sending Alison to the Mental Hospital by pretending to be her (Alison had a ring which she put on) a few years after that Alison returned (her parents thinking she was Courtney) Alison then killed Courtney and pushed her into a hole that was being used for concrete. Her parents KNEW Courtney was in the grave, and brought Alison back to the mental hospital. Alison WAS A in the novels and she was psychotic.
Forgot how good the books were I'm going to reread them. Alison was evil in the books as A and I'm kind of pissed the show didn't just take the content that was already written instead of coming up with stupid plots that never went anywhere because the writers either forgot or couldn't be bothered to end them properly.
Hannah's torture isn't an unanswered question. She confessed to killing Charlotte as part of a trap for A.D and thus she was kidnapped and tortured. She was let go because Alex, while posing as Spencer in a hallucination and through the torture, learned she was lying and let her go. In my honest opinion, I believe that torturing someone psychologically is more fun than torturing them physically assuming your the kind of person who enjoys it and that is one of the reasons Hannah was let go.
Kinda makes me wanna rewatch PLL. But yeah, that show was riddled with plot holes. Even when things were "answered," they really weren't, and I was always hella confused. 😅
Mrs. DiLaurentis KNEW that CeCe Drake was Charlotte and CONTINUTALLY visited her, even before her transition from Charles. Her freakout about CeCe Drake is literally such a plothole
wilden didn’t know that cece murdered alison… all he knew was that she was at the house. she was buried behind the house so wilden would have no reason to suspect alison was “dead”
There are so many plot holes, it’s almost as if they didn’t plan any reveal prior to writing these scenes and was just trying to be suspenseful in the moment 🤔
"No one To save Ali from Evil"= Not Safe=Ntae=Nate so Did Mona find out Maya's Killer?? Some of these are interesting I want to o=know is how did Aria get inside a Crate with a Dead Garrett/Pallo Was it Wilden Melissa Cece?? I know they're school mates but how Did Jenna not know that her fellow Alliance member was on the train without knowing and How did Melissa know Jenna and Shawna??
I think Moan answered that. She said wilden and melissa were the ones trying to push the crate that had aria and garrett in it off the train. She had the video, but at that time it cut off when she was showing the liars cause a hacked her laptop.
I was too old for this show when it originally aired. that didn't stop me from watching it though (I'm roughly the same age as Shay). I have watched and rewatched every season dozens of times, and past season 3 or 4 I get utterly confused because every plot gets increasingly more convoluted and inexplicably complex, that I just give up trying to understand the motives, the finances, who has an evil twin, and why they're angry at the liars lol. That being said, I'm wrapping up S5 again this week.
Marlene (show runner) said on Twitter that A apparently stole a cadaver from a college and put it in the barrel. Why she was always answering questions on Twitter and not putting them in the show is beyond me.
This entire show was so confusing and problematic. This show would’ve gone so much sooner, and would’ve ended after season 2 or 3 had the girls just gone to their parents and told them everything and then got a different police department involved.

For Mona’s riddle, that question was answered. In a flashback before the liars were friends again after Ali’s “death”, Mona talked about using riddles to talk about other people when they are around. It was a type of coded sentence where you would take the first letter of each word and it forms a sentence. That riddle Mona used in Radley was spelling out Maya’s secret website called “Massugar” I think it’s called. Sorry if my wording sounds weird lol it was hard for me to explain but I hope this helps 😊

It makes sense that he killed himself. I know Emily said he didn't, but the girls were canonical wrong about most things. Ian had just tried to kill Spencer (an under aged girl he had a thing with). He now knew that Alison was alive-another under age girl he had a thing with who could also tell about the videos he was filming of under age girls in their bedrooms. So he was looking at attempted murder and other charges, probably in a lot of pain from the fall from the bell tower, and decided to end it.

This list reminds me of how great this show was. I actually love how many unanswered questions there are. I have revelations every time I rewatch it.

The writers wouldn't take risks. The mains were surrounded by plot armor the whole time :/ It just ended up being a mess
