    I bought 2 of these almost a year ago. Paid $1300 each. Got one on a camper and one on a sailboat. Stayed off grid for 2 months in camper running down to zero a few times. Charging at 60 amps with solar and generator. Both batteries doing great. Gonna buy a couple more for connex solar stand alone systems.

      Look into used Tesla modules from the Tesla cars, they get removed from salvaged/totaled Tesla cars and sold, you can find them with low mileage (barely used). They are 24 volt though, and they're Li-ion instead of LiFePO4. I think you could use a 24v DC to 12v DC step down converter though. So if 24v wouldn't work for your application, that may be an option if you did want to give the cells a try.
      $700-1000 on eBay, they're 250 ah but 24 volt, so in 12 volt numbers, they'd actually be 500 ah.
      5200 wh capacity compared to the Power Queen 300 AH having 3840 wh, so roughly 35.4% more capacity, for very similar (maybe cheaper) price.

    Its actually a bit scary that the thing is allowing you to pull 440A through it for more than a few seconds. I would consider that a fire hazard. Even though the BMS has thermal protection, a BMS only rated at 200A that is shutting down at 450A+ has a real risk of blowing up its MOSFETs. Or for some of its internal wiring to overheat/melt without the temperature sensors detecting it. And the sizing of the cables connected to the battery could present a problem too. The BMS firmware just shouldn't allow that kind of current to be pulled. If it is spec'd at 200A then it should shutdown at 210A or 220A if held for more than a few seconds.

    • @HOBOTECH
      @HOBOTECH  Год назад +5

      All batteries of this style allow around double the amps for a period of time. Watch my other reviews. The fact it shut down at 490A and overheated at 450A means the failsafe is working.

      1) Stick welder machine
      2) pure water
      3) temperature probe w/ digital on/off display
      *It's far too much to explain here, but basically the plates need to be renewed by desulfating them with high current, and the water is to replace the water lost to evaporation. The temp probe is used to stop current when the system gets too hot, and then start again when it cools sufficiently to maintain at least 5 minute regen intervals (which depends on ambient temps-too hot and the system temp will rocket up too quickly) until current draws increase without temp spikes. Then it's done.* I use my batteries quite hard/often so I regen every 2 months or so. But most systems will probably only need it once a year.

    I noticed you mentioned that you could connect this battery to the AC200Max to extend the run time of the AC200Max. Other than the obvious differences of battery sizes between the PowerQueen and the B230 Bluetti battery, AND the convenient 12v outputs on the Bluetti B230 Battery, once either of these batteries is plugged into the AC200max, will they both operate identically with the AC200max or will there be a performance difference during usage with a high load single induction burner due to the different voltages of the PoweQeen v. the expansion Bluetti B230 battery? Is the PowerQueen only good for recharging the AC200max battery when the AC200 is not in use or is it able to extend run time during the AC200max usage in the exact same way as if the B230 was hooked up to the AC200max? I need extended wattage for my AC200max but I don't need the convenient 12v ports of the B230 and the much higher price per watt. Thanks in advance for your comment and enjoy your vacation in AZ.

    • @davidhowell7279
      @davidhowell7279 Год назад

      Interesting query. I'm a newbie as well. Here's my understanding so far. A "sogen" doesn't generate anything. It has a battery in it just like the one in the video (possibly different chemistry, size, yada yada yada). Your "sogen" has a built-in mppt which allows you to run solar panels directly to it. In order to charge a battery such as this one, you would essentially need to build your own "sogen" by getting a mppt /charge controller (plus a few extra bits) and an inverter. At that point you would plug your "sogen" into the inverter and charge it through the a/c input( or get some kind of 12 volt adapter to charge your "sogen" from the battery through the d/c input). Your "sogen" is merely a power storage device that is complete with all of the goodies put together in one package. Or, I suppose you could run your solar panels to your "sogen", plug a battery charger into its a/c outlet and charge the battery that way but, what would be the point of that? A "sogen" makes it easier for people that want/need an easier and generally portable all in one system. The easiest way to add capacity to an already existing "sogen" is to get one that has parallel capability. Either that or just get a massive "sogen" with a handle and wheels. I live in the pacific northwest so, I plan on getting a "sogen" and a propane generator to augment my solar power system on the dark, dank, dismal days of winter. Probably the Zendure 2000 featured in one of the professor's videos. Anyways, hopefully someone with real world experience will jump in and correct me or fill in the blanks. Professor?

    8:25 Help Hobotech, I’m 70 and even though my personal batteries are close to their best before - I’m new to this scene and heard you mention here that this 300ah could be used as a starter bat. with the risk of shortening the BMS life. My question is; can I replace my starter and leisure battery with one of these using a quality DC - DC charger? Or is there other info needed to pull it off? If possible, I’d be able to save major space. My vintage RV has a 2.8L 4 cyl. diesel engine. 1 Battery to rule them all! Ha ha!

    While I like the PQ 300Ah there is a 410Ah model available; it has a 250A BMS. What do you think of it? It has about the same footprint as the 300Ah model except is heavier. I noticed the discount code TECH3 didn't work it.

    On their website they say that the final tax will be determined AFTER the order is placed. Sorry, I don't do business that way. Give me the total at point of sale or I find someone who will.
    Also, the warranty is pro-rated.

    These things are interesting though I don't think I'll ever get one. Though with them being cheaper than a server rack buying 4 of these might be in my future. I still like the form factor of a server rack and the communication. I know some of them have bluetooth BMSes so I wonder if they will ever have UART. I see they make server racks for 48V so I guess even they acknowledge this form factor doesn't make sense at 48V. Weirdly they have a 90AH that says is 51.2V and 100AH says its 48V. The difference of 10AH and 10A on the BMS costs 36% more, wow.

    Dear professor, I'm getting a 2023 motor coach. It has 1 200 watt solar panel, a 1000 watt inverter , a dual controller what ever that is and 2 100 AH AGM batteries. I plan to up grade the inverter to 2000 or 3000 but initially would like to upgrade to a 200 or 300 AH lithium battery, did I understand you saying I could just drop a lithium in with my current equipment ?

      my setup closely matches yours. I'm in a van with 2 160 watt panels on my roof. I was just wondering myself if this battery is overkill or not. obviously my solar panels will take about a week to fully charge the battery at least that's my guessing estimate. anyways I'll likely call up a solar expert and ask them to do the install for me if they think it's going to work alright. the only mystery i'm left with at the moment is am I spending more money then I need to spend.

    Can you test the WFCO converter and how it interacts with the 300 amp Lithium batteries. So much confusion here and it it a real task for many to change out the converter. I thru my hands up last week with the thought of moving all the wires and if wires are compatible.

      @@HOBOTECH I have a model WF 9855 and say output at 13.6. You mention in the PQ 300 ah video that your converter needs to be able to charge at 14.2 or 14.4. I totally believe yours is fine. Does this mean it would just charge slower and it’s probably ok to just drop it in? Thank you for your response. Sorry to have to ask.

    I wonder what size battery is in the Bluetti 200max? I’m going back and forth between creating my own set up buying this battery or getting the Bluetti. All I need is an inverter since I already have a Rich 20 amp controller.

    I really seriously considering buying one or two power queen batteries however I have no experience with lithium ion batteries are they safe to keep in my house I think I’ll probably be going for Victron Blue solar charge controller and possibly a Victron inverter I’m only going to run a 12 V system i’m wondering how many solar panels would I need to recharge a 200 amp hour power queen would 400 watts be enough would 600 watts too much. I would be using power queen batteries to run an inverter and television maybe a small window air conditioner somewhere between two and three hours a day to save on electric possibly a refrigerator once in a while also if anyone has any pointers I’d be really glad to hear what you had to say
