Hey all, recently uploaded the next video to my FF 14 journey: Heavensward! Click here to watch but be warned, it's a long one. Great for those of you who only watch my vids while on the toilet. ruclips.net/video/NhiYwvL-pSA/видео.html&ab_channel=Krucial
Black Desert Online REALLY needs a teleport system like in FFXIV. I don't care if it makes using your horse pointless. BDO 's world is so bloody big that fast travel should be mandatory. Unlike BDO, FFXIV did travel right.
Something that is immediately noticeable, (as in - different from other MMO's) is that any crowded city area, is filled with conversational noises. Not just music playing, but the sounds of people talking. The more people, the louder it all gets.
It's not just conversational background noise. If you are out doing FATEs in a large group, or doing Hunt trains, they do the same thing with battle noises. When combat starts, it'll suddenly switch to battle cries, shouting, and metal clanging. It was pretty funny during the Ishgardian Restoration events. Basically, we were rebuilding sections of Ishgard and you would participate in large group events to reward you with a massive amount of EXP for any of the crafting jobs. But for whatever reason, it would default to the battle background noise meaning that you had blacksmiths, carpenters, cooks, etc screaming bloody murder and making it sound like it was a big battle to the death when we were really just building bridges and stuff.
Not to mention going to any shop area in a town makes it so you can hear players all around you blacksmithing or weaving clothes, it just all sounds alive lol
As someone whos been in FFXIV for a long while, I agree with almost everything that was said. Beyond turning off Everyones effects. You can go as far as limited since you'll want to see where healers place down healing bubbles for you get healed in.

The community and liveliness of the people within it cannot be understated. Immediately after creating my character and moving around in one of the major cities, I could *feel* it. There was a cool anime protagonist club filled with epic looking figures posing quietly while off to the side, standing perfectly still were a group of mimes who in turn stood nearby an...exotic entertainment of perfectly synchronized dancers. And more! I spent at least an hour looking around the city to find more groups of people doing their own thing to liven up the place. That alone was enough to get me to be an enthusiastic fan. That life is something I felt when I first played WoW and is much of the reason why I play MMOs in the first place.
We did it boys. We got all the WoW streamers on our side. Next stop: WORLD DOMINATION! *also bunny girls, with the femboy bunnies coming this November*

So I have played ff to lvl 60 paladin and lvl 35 thaumatarge or whatever it is…. But that was a long long time ago. I don’t really even remember playing. So how can I get back into the game? I am certain I didn’t finish any of the main story lines. But I’m not sure where to start, what class I should be playing, etc… any advice would be greatly appreciated!
@@nointro Tanks/Healers will obviously get you through dungeon ques quicker, but ultimately you can play whatever looks fun. The nice thing about 14 is that you only need 1 character to play all the jobs. I would say pick what looks the most interesting/fun to you and complete the main story. Then branch off and level up other jobs and try them out.
I hope you unlock the Hildibrand quest lines, they're pretty funny. FF14 has been a breath of fresh air as I haven't been subbed to WoW in over 6 months.

This game is honestly one of my favourites to heal in, WoW made me an anxious wreck ngl. 😂 People are so sweet and positive and I actually really enjoy all three of the healing classes. you can use /cpose while doing various animations like /groundsit or /sit in chairs, or /doze (if you have it) also if you have your weapon out and use it. theres also a button hotkey in the emote menu for it. probably useful for making youtube videos
Great video, I just wanted to clarify a few things. 1) Trick Attack increases the damage the target takes from EVERYONE. 2) The Gold Saucer is pretty much exactly what he said, though I'd add that it's also like a casino where the house always loses. You either win a little or a lot, but you ALWAYS win. There's also a weekly transmog prize where you get certain items, dye them a certain color, and present yourself to the judge. You get 10,000 MGP just for participating, another 50,000 if you match 80% of what he asks for, and a title if you get 100%. 3) Normal quests never send you to go kill 15 things, or to go gather 5 things with annoyingly low drop rates. I specified normal, as there are a few exceptions, such as... 4) At each level cap (50, 60, etc), the game has what WoW would call legendary weapon quests. Every combat job has one (and crafter/gathers do at 80), and the first few parts have roughly 10% drop rates. But for many, the weapon appearance is completely worth it. 5) And no, the game never makes you feel that you *have* to do anything. This is why you see people in cities just playing music. You can do this, that, or nothing at all if you want, it's completely up to you. Welcome to the game ;)
it took me until like lvl 50 to realize what the aethernet did 😭 i had been attuning to most of them and thought it just labelled the area not teleport you LMAO .. i was walking around for so long!!
I haven't laughed so much at a First Experience video in ages lmao. Been hearing so much about this game, then found out that some of my guildmates in Black Desert play it too, and now after watching this I've signed up for a free trial and I'm downloading it.

Going to start my journey here in 2023 here with the wife, we are both new to gaming and have some friends that won’t shut up about this game, looks good! Can’t wait to play and see what crazy things we will see! 😅
A pro tip for gamers if you want to keep healthy eyesight. There is a podcast by Stanford professor named Andrew huberman here on RUclips called the huberman podcast from that podcast I have learned that prolonged screen exposure such as us gamers are exposed to many eye problems starting with soreness and headaches all the way up to actual retinal damage and disease such as myopia. A way to greatly mitigate the chances of getting myopia or eye degenerative related ailments is to simply view bright light in the morning such as outdoors but not direct sunlight on your eyes. Gazing at far distances will relax your eyes especially during a gaming session and it's like flexing your bicep it is extremely good for your eyes and will greatly mitigate myopia which is short-sightedness which you will develop if you stare at screens all day everyday especially late at night.
Playing FFXIV has been on my bucket list for years now, and two days ago I finally got around to it - and so far it has not disappointed. Sure, it has aspects that feel like generic MMO-fare, but there is also a lot of really good stuff going on in the game. The biggest positives so far have been the new player experience and the way quests are handled (good pacing, easy to reach objectives, meaningful with good rewards, not too many at once - some MMOs tend to clog your quest journal REALLY fast!!!). Apart from the somewhat convoluted process to setup the account and get started, Final Fantasy XIV is the best MMO experience I have had in a very long time and I wholeheartedly recommend it! P.S.: Contrary to the author, I found the game to be anything but overwhelming; it does an excellent job at easing new players into different aspects of gameplay and new things are explained plainly and clearly by the game's help system.
Hello! I am a Gridania regular so it makes me happy to see someone praising Gridania xD I feel like it's a really chill place hence why I am there all the time, when I wait on queue or just to meet up with my friends when we log in, we also very often hear music there cause people just LOVE to perfom at the main atheryte, it's quite cozy though :3
As a word of advice, doing the MSQ will easily along with dungeons and very few side quests allow you to fast track through the story of FF14. All this really depends on is if you want to be immersed in the amazing story that is being told in the game(for all you folks from WoW its not really a patch by patch story the A realm Reborn Story is finally getting completed in the newest Expansion Shadow Bringers. With the Up Coming Expansion End Walker capping off that story and starting on a totally new story for this game. So there is plenty to enjoy since all your investment in the story or lack thereof isn't the same issue you would have in WoW since you don't have to go watch Nobbel videos to understand it or buy the books. To understand the plot.) And Let no one tell you that you even have to do the story you can buy a Boost if you want(its something offered by the game let no one tell you how to play a game you are paying for.. like seriously..) If you find that you want to view the game later there is always New Game+ which you can go through the whole story over again if you like. Overall Final Fantasy XIV is an amazing Game that I feel like Everyone should try at least once with its amazing free trial that has a ton of content not to mention the story and so much more.. Its very much Not a WoW killer But it doesn't Need to be. This game offers in this time of need a welcome breath of fresh air that is for the first time offering competition to WoW that it needs in order to become better. I hope to see any and everyone who decides to give this game a try in Eorzea soon!
MSQ alone will level you enough now. They increased exp gain from them. Making it even easier for new players to get into the game. Great comment other than that minor detail. 👏
"Tired of using sign language, swap to a Texan" well hell I was calling off mmos but here's krucial pulling me back in. Great video as usual and I guess I'll be making an account to bring back the fun and magic I used to feel with wow.
I think the weird separation of the various cities is due to technological limitations with the game being on PS3 at the same time. Gridania (forest city) is split between two subzones, Old Gridania and New Gridania, but the Aetherytes are labeled in a way that makes it easier to figure out. Limsa Lominsa (naval/pirate city) is split between two subzones, the Lower Decks and the Upper Decks. I still find Ul'Dah (desert city) to be the worst because it's split into like 3-4 subzones. Ishgard (main city in Heavensward) is similarly split into various subzones. However, but the time you get to Ishgard you're pretty accustomed to the wonkiness so it isn't AS bad. In Stormblood they switched so that all of the main cities (Rhalgar's Reach and Kugane) were in the same subzone. So you didn't have to go to a loading screen trying to walk to the grocery store. Shadowbringers actually kind of backtracked. The Crystarium is a massive size for a city zone, and I don't believe that it has any subzones that require loading when moving around. But because of its size you're just better of using the Aetherytes to save time. Eulmore, on the other hand, has 3-4 subzones. All of the important endgame vendors and such are all on the same subzone (where the main Aetheryte is) so you don't have to worry about the other subzones with the exception of sidequests and MSQ. I'm not sure why Eulmore has subzones, since FF14 dropped PS3 support in Stormblood or Shadowbringers.
Glad you're having fun with the game. I would like to point out that Shadow Fang is actually a GCD, just with its own unique cooldown. However, if you use it, you still have to wait for the global cooldown of 2.5 seconds (or whatever your skill speed makes it) to use your next GCD weaponskill.
FFXIV is literally just a coomer's paradise, all the catgirls, dragon girls, and bun girls you could possibly want to play as. What's that? No, no, I don't believe there even is a male option in the character creator. Silly you.
Higher level content is fun as hell! It amazes me that even after all these years that the FFXIV dev team is still able to find new and creative ways to keep fights interesting.
I’ve done up into stormblood so far and will just say Ravana is one of the coolest “antagonists” ever in a game I’ve played. Not only is his fight epic as hell. His boss music is one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard. And I stress that he’s an antagonist not a villain because he follows a code of honor and keeps his word even in defeat
@@bigbay1159 When I first heard Brute Justice’s music, my only thoughts were “I have to get my friends to blind run this raid” and “Where’s the orchestrion roll”.
You nailed the best part of the game. I get distracted, I talk to people or dance around. I actually roleplay interact with the community. I cry at the story. Its so refreshing
Ain't it kinda wierd that FFXIV have gone unnoticed for such a long time within the WoW community? I've been playing FFXIV and WoW for years(untill i finally dropped WoW mid BfA, I just couldn't deal with it anymore). Since FFXIV have almost no FOMO content outside of events, It was always easy to shelf it for a few months at the start of a new WoW tier and just resub when WoW slowed down and then have a boatload of stuff to do when you return to FFXIV. It was sort of part of my own patch cycle back then. Now i play FFXIV as my only MMO, because WoW unfortunately ain't fun anymore. But I've replaced WoW with other genres of games and it also allowed me to catch up on titles I had wanted to play but never had time for while playing WoW.
I know for some people that me have stayed away from it because we got a bad first impression (Played pre ARR) and thus didn't consider going to it for quite a while because I would think of that first thing. Game is completely different now and I am entering heavensward but yea... That bad first impression had me and probably many others turn a blind eye to it for a long time.
@@emetanti Nah they actively ragged on FFXIV for being a bad game and now when they finally play it they realize it's acctually better then WoW in most aspects and have been that for a very long time. Honestly if it wasn't for my guild I would had dropped WoW already back in 2.0 or at the very least in Heavensward.
It has gone unnoticed by *some* people, but I played it first time in Heavensward a fair bit, which is like 6 years ago now, I've always known it was the only real competitor to WoW in terms of quality.
I'm hooked onto FFXIV not because of bunny and cat girls/boys but because playing Black Mage and Dragoon is the closest I'll ever get to role-playing as a nuke in an MMO.
My favorite things about all the final fantasies in general is that I feel like they want the epicness of the story to remain, but also will put something in the game just because it's awesome or silly or hilarious. They dont use excel spreadsheets with game play time logistics to determine everything that's in the game.
I keep telling people: "if absolute white on your screen hurts your eyes, your screen is not setup correctly for your eyes". Yes, the game likes the flashy boombooms, but your own screen should not be able to go up to a level of brightness that hurts you.
im dumb as hell and that bit actually made me paranoid for my vision. internet says you can get a camera flash in your eyes 100x and its not gonna be damaging, and u need like 30s+ of constant bright light exposure for damage. and then i realized people frequently see the sun out of the corner of their eyes and even glance at it. so yea im just a paranoid idiot
The thing that sold me on deciding to put 100s of hours into this game was the first time I saw a giant fucking whale flying Mach 2 overhead and some bards on flaming unicorns chasing after him.
being a botanist is probably my favorite ive gathered 100+frogs and fruits of each kind that i just enjoyed chillin. didnt realize it would lvl me past my main job but i still have fun finding trees and random drops that i want to farm for a week or longer
The game has a lot of time sinks, almost all at whatever the current level cap is. Relics, Anima, Eureka, and Bozjan were all way more grinding when they were brand new, but are now more relaxed. Endwalker will likely have something similiar for level 90s.

The community and liveliness of the people within it cannot be understated. Immediately after creating my character and moving around in one of the major cities, I could *feel* it.

P.S.: Contrary to the author, I found the game to be anything but overwhelming; it does an excellent job at easing new players into different aspects of gameplay and new things are explained plainly and clearly by the game's help system.

hi

Science fantasy, my man!
tbh, the naval city is definitely the least beginner friendly with the forest one being the most basic with it being just all on one level
I'm not sure why Eulmore has subzones, since FF14 dropped PS3 support in Stormblood or Shadowbringers.
uldah is a nightmare to navigate with the map as a new player

It didn´t go unnoticed, most the youtubers just realized that with Shadowlands burning that theres more to gain from 14.
The only FOMO I can think of is the Feast mounts and the Garou event.

My favorite things about all the final fantasies in general is that I feel like they want the epicness of the story to remain, but also will put something in the game just because it's awesome or silly or hilarious.

Is that a thing you have to do in WoW...?
Compete for quests drops..?

i've been debating if i should try ffxiv since i heard its a hard grind but after watching this vid i can see how u can have fun playing this game, downloading :>

What is there to lose? The base game and the first expansion are entirely free. If you like it then hey, that's a plus. And if you don't, then you at least didn't lose anything for trying it out. Win Win either way
@@bigbay1159 People always say "whats there to lose" with free games, but dont realise you might not be spending money, but time, i enjoy FFXIV but someone might try and get into it for like 5 hours and they just cant, then uninstall, there, 5 hours gone on a game they didnt enjoy, so even if a game is free it doesnt mean you arent losing anything for trying it
@@g76agi That completely over thinking and isn't the point. Trying a game and seeing if you like it or not isn't the end of the world or a total waste. The fact you can play so much of the game to see if you truly like it without paying anything isn't a loss.
