    Most underrated best pen. I have a modern 95s and a few vintage elite pockets. Omg… I love them.

      I have a rare 22k script nib from the 60’s. My favorite. A little flex, super soft. I have an 18 ef I’m fixing up. I gave another 18script to my wife and an 18 fine to brother in law. I just love them.

    I have a vintage Elite with the same size nib. It has an attractive crosshatch design on the cap and barrel and is just a wonderful pen. Also has a lucky triple 7 date code! ;)

    The E95S is not only the best pocket pen in current production, but I'd also say it is easily one of the 10 or even 5 best current pens overall. I'd love it even more if it took the Con-70 converter (the best converter being made today, imo) and came in some different colors (w/ silver trim). They really should bring out a new color or two. I also largely agree with you on the Kaweco Sport.

      I agree about the converter, but use a cartridge and refill that.

      I’d love a wide body E95!

    • @anrun
      @anrun 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@RJayRoberts I don't view it not taking the Con-70 has any kind of real flaw. I'm just a Con-70 fanboy who will sing its praises even when it is off-point. I'm content to use my Con-20s in my E95S and other similar Pilot pocket pens.

      @@anrun How is the CON-70 better than the usual convertor - is it a lot bigger?

    • @anrun
      @anrun Месяц назад

      @@AitchKay Oh, yes, it is clearly bigger/holds more ink than the other Pilot converters. I don't recall the exact capacities off-hand, but I'd guess the Con-70 holds double the amount of ink or close to it than the others.

    I just ordered one of these from Japan! Went for the Burgundy one in Medium.

    Definitely agree on all points with the E95s. It's a great pen and well worth the price, especially if you can get it for less than $100.

    I want this pen, but I want it in a fun color. The black and burgundy aren't super exciting for me. But I do love my Preras, and a capless is on my wishlist, so I'd better put this on as well. 🙂

    I wanted to love the Elite. It looks classy and is it is a Pilot, known for quality. It’s a very affordable for a gold nib. Once in hand, the plastic had a quality feel. But, I found the slope of the grip area almost too tapered and slick, like the pen might easily slip back on my grip if it’s a warm day and my hand is a little damp. I am more comfortable holding it further back than ideal for me. But, my real issue was the EF version of their gold nib. It was scratchy, not something I expected in a quality gold nib. It was also occasionally pulling up paper fibers on high quality paper. I described the issue to a local pen expert and he examined the nib under a loupe which I already had done. He couldn’t identify a misalignment and before I could seriously consider it, he was working on some sheets of grit paper. Well, the nib is smoother writing but it’s no longer an EF, and the line the nib makes is not uniform. It’s ugly.
    And as for the Kaweco pens, I have three plastic EF ones. One is a perfect smooth EF writer and the other two are very good, if not perfect.
    It’s so disappointing to have this attractive pen in my collection and find that I don’t want to use it! Others have liked it. I think I got a rare Pilot lemon.

    I love the Kaweco Sport - IF you get a good nib with it. That's my frustration with this line. I love the plastic feel actually, but I have several in different colors and while some nibs are fantastic, others are scratchy and dry. Quality control and consistency can definitely suffer a loss when you're dealing with less expensive pens, though Pilot does knock it out of the park on that front as well. Their Kakuno pens are my go-to at work. Great for every task. I need to put my E95S back into rotation.

      Is ef and F nibs significantly different? Been watching a few samples on videos but they look so similar and I’ve been torn between the 2

      @@Qibbles go with a F.
      EF is kinda scratchy to my liking & the thinness isnt that worth it. But F is smooth.

    I have both, Stargazer and E95s. I agree with the Stargazer been a bit unbalanced and it's unfortunate because I like it a lot, unfortunately metal pens are not always the best option for a pocket pen, with an exception perhaps the Traveler's pocket pen. And the E95s is perhaps a perfect carrying pen, really good and soft pen, a little bounce I suspect do to its nip shape/geometry. I have a black/gold medium and red/ivory fine.
    Thank you for the video.

    you might have just convinced me to get one some day. I never was a fan of the inlay nib design, but that’s seemingly like a nit-pick more and more when you stack up the cool features

    thanks for this: wish you would post more often! - not sure this pen would work for me: I prefer not to post, I like the feedback I get on my Sailor 1911 large and Pro Gear pens and I’m just not a big fan of the aesthetics of this pen but always interested in a different point of view:)(btw: agree with your assessment of the Prera, that is design perfection imho! - I swapped it’s F nib for an EF nib and now have the perfect Frankenpen!:)

    I got two Kaweco's, each around $25-30 and they constantly hard start; I don't enjoy using them. If this pen has the quality of the Pilot's Custom 74/742 then I bet I would love it.
    Edit: I have two Perkeo's and like them

    I have 2 of these Pilot elite vintage (M & F) 18 and I do like them. They dry up quick but a quick swipe with a wet brush/tissue etc. to get started. My nibs are indeed much smaller that hat you show. I do have to say I love my Schon DSGN pocket 6 just a teeny bit more.

    I'm looking for years, to get either this gem or the Pilot 803 but I couldn't get any of them, because it always a need arises and the money fly out of my wallet, like if they had wings! Great pen, I love it in Burgundy or Black, it goes perfect with the Pentel Kerry mechanical pencil, same design for edc!!

    Why the pen fluctuates in price? This and the custom 74 fare massively produced as pretty convincing fakes in China, and are all over the internet. Great pens if genuine, but watch out! Jan.

    This fountain pen is nice, but it is too soft, you need to be able to write very well to use it well. For me the 95S with the nib size F writes much better...
