Classic Sesame Street - Grover Monster as Oscar's Grouch Elevator Operator (1974)

Plot: Luis sees a job listing in the newspaper regarding an elevator operator needed at Oscar's trash can. Oscar states the position has already been filled by someone - Grover. He doesn't see an elevator around, but Oscar tells him to hang tight. Oscar's can is now attached to a rope and pulley system. Grover's job is to raise or lower the can per Oscar's command. With some difficulty, Grover raises the can up high, but Oscar asks to be lowered back down to get his rock collection. As Grover raises him up again, Oscar realizes he's forgotten something else - his three, heavy watermelons. Grover pulls him back up once more, when Oscar now remembers he needs to get a copy of the Grouch Gazette. Grover offers to get it for him, letting go of the rope and smashing Oscar's can to the ground. Oscar fires him on the spot.
