The real answer to that lock lid question is that tournaments are a rush. You will be rushed to the next match right after the other and each team will have a large box full of pre filled pods. For 6 pods it can cost upwards of 30 dollars and need 40-50 of them it becomes expensive very quick.
My opinion and the knowledge I gathered about NXL unifying paintball leagues is that I think their end goal is to get paintball acknowledged as a sport and acknowledged as an Olympic sport. From what I understand about the rules for an Olympic sport, you need 65 different countries competing in your sport from all levels. Makes sense, you need enough popularity so enough countries would want to put time into the sport. From what I know, we have about 40 different countries who have paintball teams that compete in the NXL. Hey! We are almost there. You also need to have unified set of rules. I see it so you have one set of rules so all countries can can follow and understand them. There are a few other minor things I don't remember, but it actually seems possible. I didn't want it at first, because it didn't seem possible. And paintball is different than all sports. Has anyone heard that E-Sports will now be an Olympic sport? It grew so fast, even faster than paintball. Just my two cents.
Being a paintballer for years, playing, collecting, keeping up on history and technology, I've been around enough conversations on paintball and it's future. Unfortunately most see paintball as a rich kid activity full of arrogant, cheating, privileged idiots just shooting each other with you guns and trying too hard to look cool. It's a shame there are a percentage that may be exactly that. Those of us into it that truely just love the sport and it's potential, can see where it could go. My golden dream years of paintball were from 1989-1999. All my old equipment reflects that, lol. I do really hope it can sort itself out, get more following, become more affordable, and maybe get up there in the Olympics or equal.
Honestly, I think the reason why the Pros don't use locking pods is even simpler: The locking pods aren't really that great. I honestly don't know a single speedball player that prefers to use the locking pods, be they Dye, Virtue, or HK Army. Nearly everybody I know has bought Lock Lids before, used them for a bit, and gone "Oh, these are actually kinda shit...", and then either sold them or just given them away. Other than holding an extra 20-25 balls, they don't do anything a standard 140 round pod can't do, and the extra complexity from the locking mechanism is just adding more things to go wrong.
Honestly the main thing keeping most people out of paintball is not because it's too complicated, too dangerous, or too painful, but it's because it costs so darn much to get into and keep playing
I have been shopping for a electronic paintball marker for a while now. I have my smart parts ion that I got for Christmas the year they came out. I'm gonna deck it out and make it a primary for now. What would be a comparable equivelant to that marker for used?? Looking at older dye dm's and protos. Maybe even a planet eclipse etek?
Depends on the field. One field I practice at is on the same property as a driving range so there are nice clean indoor bathrooms for me to soil. The other field has porta-potties, so I just drive a min down the road and shit at the WaWa.
#pbqt What was it like owning a paintball store? I've always heard that fields barely break even. It's been a long time goal of mine to open a field when I retire (because I won't be as worried about making a heavy profit), but I'm curious to hear about your experience.
I bought a smart parts NXT with virtue OLED board for $65 on the LetGo App. Man that was a hell of a deal! :) The rest of my collection (LV1, CS1, M2, LUXE OLED & a bunch of others) i got mostly from Facebook and pbnation.com). All AWESOME deals and great sellers. I got no regrets buying used. :)
I'm looking at buying a used tippmann 98 custom. The gun is 10 years old but the seller says it was barley used and they lost interest in paintball. Do yall think it's worth my time to go out and look at the gun or do yall think it is probably too old.
#PBQT seems like a huge amount of paint is wasted (i.e. not shot) from pods popping open or paint bouncing off of the speed feed. I get that we are trying to save time on the field but is there any way to save paint, is it worth try, and how much paint do you think is wasted in a match?
A lot of pro teams with heavy sponsorships have pods packed to each event by their sponsors. TBD, Infamous, Ironmen, and others all put their pods up in their sponsors trailers to have moved from each event so they aren't spending a ton on pods for their pro-teams. Also, with the locking pods, they do not fit into a lot of the packs out there the same as the 140 pods do. The time between pulling a 140 pod out and a PF or HK pod is not the same because the packs grab the high end pods tighter and then you have to get used to the button to open them.
Variety is the spice of life my friend. Having a constant change in layout often forces teams/players out of their comfort zones and you end up seeing some really neat plays. Not to mention every team has their strengths and weaknesses. Different layouts will be strong for some and weak for others but the constant change helps balance that out. I personally enjoy playing a new layout as much as possible, having to mentally break down a field is one great aspect of paintball.
Bottom line is the cheap pods work just as good as the expensive ones so unless your diving upside down and landing on your pack the 2$ pods are gonna work just fine
#pbqt How do I get my son (he is 11) to be a more active player, i.e shooting/moving more? He generally just hides most of the time, of note we play recball. Thanks!
I'd say screwed straight into the marker for a standard paintball gun since it gives you something to shoulder and stabilize it-- it has a strange center of gravity otherwise. However, if the gun already has a stock, like many milsim/magfed guns, a remote line is better.
If your only options are the two of those, go with the axe. It's an absolute workhorse of a gun, easy to maintain, easy to use, and can get the job done.
#pbqt I need a new marker and as a poor student I have about 250€. Wich marker can you recommend ? I dont play any special style so speedball and woodland markers are cool.
There's little difference between the stealth and 160r. You get a different barrel (with backs), different milling, and an exalt case. Really didn't change much at all.
I think rules unification is a good thing. Other sports don’t have significantly different rules if you play in different countries. Different levels may have different rules (HS vs College vs national pro vs international pro) but the rules are typically standardized across each level. I only have my semi-ridiculous marker collection because I buy used. That being said, I am SUPER particular when shopping around, and I have the tools, experience, and willingness to troubleshoot little issues if they pop up. I think the safest bet for used markers, is the used high end market. Look for stuff that’s clean (if they can’t bother to clean it up before listing it you can guarantee they haven’t done regular maintenance), pristine condition (including cosmetics) as that tends to be a pretty good indicator of how well cared for the gear is. I passed on one of my unicorns (Ollie Lang LV1.1) because the ones I found recently were missing the barrel or other things that gave me pause. Happy hunting!
I am looking for a speedball setup that allows me to shoot really fast (walk the trigger) and is under 300 dollars. What do you recomend? One around 250 dollars? Also, what do you think of the gog extcy?
Caleb Will only way I use to purchase used paintball gear is on Facebook. Just search paintball buy sell and you'll find a bunch of groups. You can post in the group and pretty sure you will find someone selling what you want
The 160-r is all metal, has an oled board, has a better trigger, and better ergonomics. Its clearly the better marker and if I had the money, I'd buy a 160-r over the Etha 2
#pbgt Best magfed? I’m on the fence between the Tippmann TMC (cheap) and the Tiberius T15 (fs and neat). Idk if I wanna use fs. It’s like $0.40 per shot in Canada...
If you want to shoot FSR then the 468 is the best imo. T15 is good for switching between FSR and roundball. If you're only shooting roundball then the tmc is good, but the Tacamo vortex pro is a better marker (although its isnt an M4 replica like the tmc)
A pod's basically a large plastic container a bit bigger than a water bottle that you use to store paintballs for reloading your paintball marker. You store them in a paintball harness or belt.
If you do go strapless, make sure your pod lids snap securely. And make sure you orient the tabs so that when you pull one pods out the tab on that one doesn't catch the tab on another pod, spilling your paint all over the place.. Or use locking lid pods.
I’m a big fan of the Empire pack. The one with the little hidden zippered pocket. I think it would work okay for smaller players. Depending on how small we’re talking.
you can throw paint down the field with ANY gun. best way to "make your shot count" would be to practice your snap shooting regardless of what gun you're using. Autocockers can be a blast because you can convert them from semi to pump and back.
3/4 inch pvc pipe: $5 lot of ten, ten round tubes: $10 Shotgun shell bandolier: $10 Sand down the PVC pipe until it holds the tubes snuggly and put it in your feedneck. Shotgun shell bandoliers are usually the perfect size for holding ten round tubes or 12g co2 cartridges. Buying an autococker, gog enmey, or magfed marker wont force you to conserve paint. I can hit 8-9 bps with the enmey and the guys shooting cockers at my field can hit 8-9 bps as well. You can definitely still spray and pray with a magfed since most have 20 round magazines, and only take a second or two to reload
hk pods suck, i bought the new push button ones, and they plain suck, sometimw u goto grab them and hit the buttom, the top piece moves around, the wide mouth causes issues, maybe its just becuz im used to the alphas, but im done with them, im going back to my alphas.
brw the other athlete does not go thru his used guns, he just sells them dont even clean em. 😂🤣😂🤣 but he was ayte he sent me eye pipes and some spare parts. but i wouldnt ever buy another gun from him

I just got a brand new GTEK160R OFF EBAY FIR $450 SHIPPED...
from a pawnshop.!!
ONLY 880 SHOOTS ON THE COUNTER.
I always preferred my local paintball store until it closed. Buying things online is a pain in the ass.
Especially everything is the same price in the end. There's no competition, whatsoever...
My opinion and the knowledge I gathered about NXL unifying paintball leagues is that I think their end goal is to get paintball acknowledged as a sport and acknowledged as an Olympic sport.

Yeah, I got them and started using them. One of my pods would open every game or 2 so I switched back to normal pods
I'd like to throw this in there. Talk to your local players and refs. My buddy just bought a Luxe from a ref at our field for $350
Why go to ansgear when you could ask your local ref
Would be nice
if you watch the Tampa Bay Damage video doc when they were rebuilding after the switch to virtue you can see them in the pits with the virtue pf pods
Honestly the main thing keeping most people out of paintball is not because it's too complicated, too dangerous, or too painful, but it's because it costs so darn much to get into and keep playing

#pbqt Take a dump at the field or leave for an actual bathroom?
Depends on the field. One field I practice at is on the same property as a driving range so there are nice clean indoor bathrooms for me to soil. The other field has porta-potties, so I just drive a min down the road and shit at the WaWa.

This guy loves his supreme hat😂
Your comments on pods make a lot of sense.

Just scored a vanquish 1.5 with the v16 for $300. Works perfect. Gotta love buying used.
Will Thorn just wait it will break just give it time
Ryan Fitzgerald thats all good, I'll slap a new part in and I'll still be saving hundreds
I got one for 40 bucks a few weeks ago
#pbqt do you think there should only be one type speedball field instead of changing it every tournament so you can practice on the same field
That would be terrible. What if you hated that layout? And you're stuck with it? Variety is good!
That would be awful lol
Yah do a pbqt on that
You kinda mentioned it, but do you think the sport is growing?
And I'm really not quite sure. I think over the past like 5ish years it's kind of stayed stagnant.
#pbqt What ever happen to some of the old paintball companies like Smart Parts, ICD, JT, ETC?
Smart Parts went under and came back as GoG/Shocker Paintball. ICD left paintball, but still exist, and JT is owned by kee/empire
Do a video we’re you build a set up for 1000 bucks gun hopper tank mask
Bottom line is the cheap pods work just as good as the expensive ones so unless your diving upside down and landing on your pack the 2$ pods are gonna work just fine
#pbqt How do I get my son (he is 11) to be a more active player, i.e shooting/moving more? He generally just hides most of the time, of note we play recball. Thanks!
#PBQT proto rize maxxed vs the empire mini GS, I have money for both. Wanted to see if one was better and easier to maintenance?
What is better to use. The coil remote line or the standard screwed In tank straight to the gun?
I'd say screwed straight into the marker for a standard paintball gun since it gives you something to shoulder and stabilize it-- it has a strange center of gravity otherwise. However, if the gun already has a stock, like many milsim/magfed guns, a remote line is better.
I'm wanting to get a beginner tournament style gun but I can't decide I'm thinking picking the proto rized maxxed or the empire axe any suggestions
If your only options are the two of those, go with the axe. It's an absolute workhorse of a gun, easy to maintain, easy to use, and can get the job done.
#pbqt
I need a new marker and as a poor student I have about 250€. Wich marker can you recommend ? I dont play any special style so speedball and woodland markers are cool.
why don't planet eclipse make a pump gun? growing area of the market and they are running the marker game.
Wyatt Gable doesn't*
My pods are old only holds 100 paint plus a crow loader pod pack
Hey what electric gun would you recommend for beginners or for my first electric gun
Mini gs
Daniel Allen thank u
#pbqt what is your opinion on the gi stealth? It seems like they addressed most of the complaints about the gtek 160r.
There's little difference between the stealth and 160r. You get a different barrel (with backs), different milling, and an exalt case. Really didn't change much at all.

#pbqt If you had to use a mag fed gun which one would you use and why?
What is the cheapest blitz 3 setup someone please answer.
Pro Teams often use standard pods because of price as well. Teams need to stock up on massive amounts of pods and it is more cost efficient
Honestly regular pods just work better. Hk pods open and spill paint all the time much rather use the good ol gen x regular pods
I've shot open several locking pods on opposing players... maybe 1 standard pod in like 22 years of paintball
Excellent
Nice snow peak cup you hike?
I am looking for a speedball setup that allows me to shoot really fast (walk the trigger) and is under 300 dollars. What do you recomend? One around 250 dollars? Also, what do you think of the gog extcy?
Caleb Will you can easily find a mini gs for 200. Around 50 -60for a dye rotor and a tank for 30-40. Just check Facebook groups
Thank you so much. Do you have any recomendations or links to websites?
Caleb Will only way I use to purchase used paintball gear is on Facebook. Just search paintball buy sell and you'll find a bunch of groups. You can post in the group and pretty sure you will find someone selling what you want
#pbqt Can you explain how penalties are assessed in tournaments and why they are given to players mid game, such as in the NXL?
Yep, watch this . ruclips.net/video/AfZAnwyB40A/видео.html
Who do you think is the best Canadian Pro Paintball player
Either Terrence Henry Stoot or Phillip Nyles Argyle
I'm getting a new gun and was thinking about the etha 2 I was wondering if I should just buy the gtek 160r instead? #pbqt
If you can afford the 160-R then that would be the better choice (also consider buying used)

Thanks for your advice. I’m gonna get the T15 or RAP4 468 due to the m4 tactical look.
#pbqt is there any youth paintball tournaments
Haha, "The rules are different in Asia! I'm not playing anymore!"
What is a pod? Sorry I'm a new sub and new to paintball period.
A pod's basically a large plastic container a bit bigger than a water bottle that you use to store paintballs for reloading your paintball marker. You store them in a paintball harness or belt.
I have a mini gs does anybody know what it takes (lube, grease, oil)

Get yourself a Empire Sniper. Pump is the way
Same rules grows paintball by simplifying it. Easier to learn rules and such if you don't have to learn three different sets of rules.
most pros have pods stage at there mane sponors both so they dont waste money on pods.
Do you love in modesto?
I love Modesto! 😉 Nope Sacramento.
Don't buy Vanguard Demons. That being said, any Demons for sale? 😂
Hi
hk pods suck, i bought the new push button ones, and they plain suck, sometimw u goto grab them and hit the buttom, the top piece moves around, the wide mouth causes issues, maybe its just becuz im used to the alphas, but im done with them, im going back to my alphas.
#pbqt Shocker rsx or Gtek160r
Lol I got a a dye m2 brand new for 500 😂😂

#pbqt do paintballs ever go bad?
