    Definitely a load on the winch there. Some good lookback at the end as well. I never thought of opening the hood, but it would definitely add some more protection for the driver.

    I was thinking blankets could be on the rope just above the pivot on the hillside, put on 90* from normal, the ground would keep it in place. Perhaps if you could run the rope at the pivot on the blanket to reduce friction it would save your rope a bit too.

    That's freakin awesome! I just bought a new front bumper and winch for my Gladiator, then I just got a bunch of recovery gear. From Rhino USA and found your channel. I've been binge watching your videos and learning a ton! I appreciate how you take the time to explain how you do things. I'd be curious to see how this would've went if you hadn't run into your buddy with the other jeep!

    • @4x4rescue74

      At first we had it rigged a bit higher but the synthetic line would have touched the ground.

  • @shawnm696
    @shawnm696 Год назад +3

    I just had a thought about the winch blankets sliding. What if they had a tether line that you would hook to the shackle of the snatch block (in this case). The weight and gravity hold it down and the tether keeps it from sliding down the line.
    All royalties go to me ok? Thanks! Nice recovery.

  • @stephenheard8520
    @stephenheard8520 Год назад

    Great recovery job, Wes. I noticed you had the tree saver or axle strap wrapped around the vehicle's front axle and then around the side of the tire because of the angle of the line up the hill. When you were pulling, in my mind, there was tremendous pressure on one side of the wheel that the strap was one. Were you not concerned with damage to the wheel and connecting joints?

    • @4x4rescue74
      @4x4rescue74  Год назад +1

      The wheels can take a decent amount of force. Especially a large solid axle, if it had a front bumper with tow points in probably would have used that, but there was limited options.

      Nope, I like the openroad4wd winch more. I have one on the back of the jeep. It’s more affordable, has a synthetic line and comes with two wireless controllers. They sent me one to test out, I have a 4x4rescue discount code set up with them also.
