This car XF is why I felt in love with Jaguar brand & because of Ian Callum's work! I'm driving a 2.2D but still dreaming of a XFR (S) - true Jag, to feel the legendary epoque & young spirit that goes into it! :)
mine is a 2.7...and I managed to notch up 251 Km/hour on a stretch from Bologna to San Marino in Italy! Exhilarating.....the car seemed to have a acquired wings of its own..it felt like it was taking off into the air!
I have the XF SV8, they are 420bhp instead and uses the old 4.2 supercharged V8 the supercharger whine is amazing and the power is very good, although not the XFR level
The engines in these are pretty tough engines. With nothing but a pully change these can run 600+hp and there's a couple of youtubers who've been running these things around 800hp. They have a couple of weak points pre 2014 ( the plastic cooling system parts & the stock cam chain tensioners) but are otherwise fairly bulletproof mechanically.
Car was probably heat soaked during the first dyno pull on the 450hp run. You hinted later in the video, it doesn't have the cooling of the "S". That checks out.
What's the TCU tune you mentioned that car has on it? I wasn't aware that a TCU tune was available for the 6-speed (ZF6HP28) that car has, only the 8-speed (ZF8HP70).
Got my XFR when I was 19 I absolutely adored it. The first thing i did was remove the resonators and ohhhh my such a crazy sounding car, it kept up or beat my friends m3's, m4's, c63's and much more. I tell myself I will own another someday im here in FL and there's just 1 for sale sadly...
@@AlmightyKes Work work and more work lol. To be fair I picked mine up for $16,000 with 40k miles on it an older woman had it and her husband passed away so it just sat. It needed a little work mainly the coolant lines being brittle other than that it was great so if you think about it $16k should be pretty manageable at your age assuming you don’t have too many bills lol goodluck
Your stock HO numbers are to the wheels which is correct given a 20% loss from the drive train. Ive had 3 of them my favourite is the earlier ones before the facelift. Easy to get 650 HP from a tune and upper pulley and exhaust. Also the brakes are good something is wrong with the car you drove perhaps air in the brake fluid.
It’s not that crazy though, the 500 or so hp mark is not that hard to control and it’s a pretty easy car to drive. Plus it’s heavy, it’s not as brutally fast as you might think. I haven’t driven a tuned one, but I have driven a stock 2010 one and it was great fun to drive, but not as fast as you might think.
I loved them when they came out... Now I'm not so sure, they haven't aged well. The facelift ones have aged a little more gracefully. But they do make a dirty, dirty sound. There's nothing like a supercharged V8 Jaaaaaaaag.

Was 470ps stock...apparently this one was detuned from factory, I've read somewhere that there was a 470ps version for some markets.
Yes that would be the supercharged 5.0 XF which had 470hp, basically a “detuned” XFR
