- An exclusive investigation by The News Movement reveals how the war in Gaza has made the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest the most divisive yet - as organisers face calls for a boycott over Israel's participation in the competition.
The News Movement can also exclusively reveal that the father of Eden Golan, the Israeli entry, has been accused of sharing Islamophobic tropes about European Muslims on social media.
The Eurovision Song Contest insists it is 'United By Music' but this documentary looks into how the conflict in the Middle East has impacted the competition.
The News Movement have approached the family of Eden Golan for comment and the EBU but are yet to hear back.

Learn about how from 1900-1948 Hagana was tasked with the massive import of American and European Jews, and Irgun and Lehi (both recognized as terrorist organizations) were tasked with pushing out the Palestinans. All this was done to create a cleansed land with a Jewish majority so that they could declare a Jewish state in 1948. When in 1939 England tried to stop a massive flow of immigration, all three organizations turned to terrorism and Lehi even aligned itself with fascist-Italy and nazi-Germany against the British in WW2. Isn't that sinister?!? After 1948 Israël was not happy and grateful for its beautiful state... No. As we all know today the gradual annexation and displacement of Palestinians went on and on. They wont stop untill they have all the land plus a part of Jordan on the East Bank. I KNOW that you know this. Everybody does.
If your nation was given away and the new owners agreed to divvy it up…what would your response be? Who has the right to use global eminent domain to fulfill a biblical prophecy as enough members of the organization are Christian? Would you give up your home willingly and walk away? Would you be ok being herded into a small piece of land because the new occupants want more land…then supplies are cut off and the laws forced upon you become more strict and leaving becomes nearly impossible. What would you do? The new owners are back by a major superpower and another power who doesn’t want Jews in their massive nation.

Is there no limit to the anti-Semitic bias? When you count the Israeli victims, you only mention the 1200 civilians and ignore the 1000 soldiers who fell in the battles. While when you list the Palestinian victims you "forget" to mention that more than half of them were Hamas fighters. A 1:2 ratio of civilian to military casualties is very reasonable in this type of warfare where the terrorists hide behind civilians as human shields. All this talk of supposed "genocide" is vile. We Jews know very well what real genocide is. That's 30,000 murdered in one day. If we wanted to commit genocide we could have done it a long time ago. Israel makes every human effort not to harm civilians. Every war is a dirty business, there are no pure wars, we did not start this war and whoever loses in a brutal war that he started, cannot call himself a victim.

In the case against Israel for committing genocide, the UN's ICJ ruled that there IS a plausible case, and that Israel needs to stop all actions that amount to genocide. Is was unanimous: even the US-judge voted against Israel! Did Israel stop? Israel did not: they upped their assaults and immediately accused UNWRA of participating in October 7, out of petty revenge. Which was a lie and by now everybody knows it and has resumed their funding for UNWRA. This week, South Africa again brought Israel before the ICJ court. You really should listen to what the five attorneys have said. It will change even your nasty mind.

They were only going to agree to a ceasefire in exchange for 700 Palestinian prisoners, among them 100 serving life sentences for killing Israelis, in exchange for the release of 40 Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

I spent decades studying the Shoah and having Israeli roommates…but the violence against Palestine is putting the Shoah in the past and the genocide we now watch is committed by Israel.

God asks us to pray peace for Israel. Songs and the gift of singing should be used to praise God for the victory that has already happened. There's no need to politicize the event. The world has done that already. The platform should be used to sing prayer over the territories at war for a call to PEACE. I feel like the lyrics are more fitting now for timeless representation not just what's happening today.

There is a vast difference between having legitimate criticisms of Islam and islamaphobia, just as there is a vast difference between deaths caused by war and genocide. Genocide was October 7, where people were murdered simply because they were deemed Jewish. What is happening in Gaza is a war bought on them by choices made by Hamas to embed themselves, with the cooperation of many civilians, amongst the civilian populace. These people protesting would be better of protesting what is happening in Darfur, Nigeria, Algeria, Mali and throughout Africa, where worse is happening.

Untrue - they were added later by joining the Broadcasting Union under completely different circumstances, but the story is not about them. Morocco qualifies for precisely the same reason as Israel - it falls within the lines drawn at the inception.

There is a big difference. Russia attacked Ukraine without provocation. Israel reacted to an attack on them. And I'm not saying you can't argue about how Israel might be acting out of proportion at this point and is doing wrong, but the basis still stands one was a reaction the other was a unprovoked attack.

But even there I would say there is a low case for that the far more important thing is the expansionism which is not acceptable and clearly against international law.

Thank you for this video, I think you did well in representing the facts of the situation without being biased to only one group.
I personally believe Israel should not have been allowed to participate in Eurovision because they fit multiple criteria that the EBU has used before to exclude other countries and their participation shows a bias and is in that sense a pro Israel political statement. Obviously there’s the comparison with Russia, who were banned because of the invasion of Ukrainian, but I think there’s much more concrete reason that the EBU themselves have layed out.
Firstly, Israel has been using Eurovision for propaganda and political messaging. Not just in when it was held there but especially this year. The national competition had some pretty clear political messages involved and obviously the initial version of the song was also very political.
Secondly, and more damming in my opinion, the EBU has previously excluded countries where there is little press freedom. I think this clearly applies to Israel since they have been targeting press on the ground in Palestine unless they only go in with the military and only report what the military shows them. Also more recently they have banned the very reputable news channels Al Jazeera.
These are just the rules that the EBU has set themselves and should be enforcing equally for all participating countries.
I also believe that including a country that is currently committing war crimes and a Genozide (I study this shit in university, it’s pretty clearly a Genozide) sends the message that such actions will be tolerated by the international community if it’s the right country with the right connections.
Also it has definitely lead to some bad press and controversy surrounding Eurovision, the reason Russia was excluded sooo…
