The most insane thing for me was that operation 1027 began the day after a discussion in my school in society class that included a brief portion about Myanmar's situation, where a student from Myanmar spoke about her experiences living near the border with Thailand. Legit had a guy from Myanmar tell me that Myanmar is far more free than the West.
He didn't like gay people very much.
And his country is going through a civil war.
But sure, I guess, Myanmar is a fine example of liberty.

I'd like to extend a apology from my homeland for this fellow's ignorance. Regrettably, I can't deny he's not alone in his views. Myanmar's freedom feels as scarce as it was in Spain during the Inquisition era! But his is right about the civil war.

@@ayehtunohn no apology necessary, friend. One doesn't represent all; just a particularly poor example like we all have in our countries.

Myanmar had a democracy movement who looked forward with some optimism not many years ago. Then the junta decided to clamp down again, and the current situation started.

Myanmar has been on and off civil wars since ww2. There is too many different opinions im surprised it hasn't been split the way India has been.

#Since day one (Independence from UK) Burma was unable to put into a strong Constitution reflecting ‘Social Values’ listed as:
    1. ‘Social Values’ (Equality, Brotherhood Spirit) among multi ‘Ethnic Races’ are not addressed by Army Dictators since day one:
    2. Army Dictators (mostly “Burman” Race) behave like they are 'Supreme' towards multi ‘Ethnic Races’ residing in the country:
    3. A strong Constitution (Social Contract between Citizens & Govt) to reflect these Social Values does not exist till to date 2024.
    # Due lack of such a strong Constitution, conflicts broke out between the Army & multi ‘Ethnic Races’
    # Now Army coup (Feb ’21) has caused a huge “Social Upheaval” which has become too hard to fix since it became a war between the total population (all National Races) against the Army.
    # Citizens lost trust in the Army, thru reality, that its intention is to grip onto power anyway, anyhow no matter what.
    # With this Army’s mindset (using “force” as only option) and Resistance Forces who are determined to close Army’s chapter in Burma - that could end up in a Civil War; that is what happens NOW.
