    🔴So sorry I've been off the grid lately. Unfortunately my mother passed away and I had to spend much more time than I thought to get the house ready for sale while doing the professor job at the same time. But now I'm back and there's much more to come! Check out more videos about stars here: ruclips.net/p/PLrAnGxL8nxOET_FfZinl5Z-JHrH41OpZ-

    My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. I lost my father a few years ago. I remember him getting me my first telescope and later teaching me how to grind a mirror for my first reflector. A few years ago while explaining how telescopes work to my daughter I realized my father's voice was still alive and well within me. I only know you from the fine videos that you produce but I have to believe your mother would be immensely proud of the good work you do. Thank you!

    Man, really sorry for your loss. Don't worry about taking that time off though, I love your videos and would never stop watching just because you took a break. They'll pop up in my sub feed when you return from any break you take so no problem at all. I was thinking part way through watching this one, this is one of your best videos yet. It never fails that you blow my mind with this stuff. I have to keep pausing or skipping back a few seconds to think about what you're saying and take it in because it's just mind boggling.

    What a lovely tribute to your mother, she would have been incredibly proud of where this channel has gotten to 🤍 I lost my mother in her 3rd bout of cancer so I can appreciate how much of a fighter Cecilia was. And I know this video was 2 years ago but please don't feel you need to apologise for taking time away... _nothing_ is more important than family.
    Both my mum & dad were instrumental in fostering my love of learning everything science, arts & engineering-related so I frequently think of them when I learn new things in videos like yours... and while I absolutely miss being able to share all these new discoveries with them, over time some of the sadness has been replaced with appreciation for this gift that they've given to me. So thank you for sharing your knowledge 🤍

    My mum also passed away in September 2019. I could not be with her, since I was far away. I remember working that day, preparing to teach at university - with less energy but more passion than ever. As a judge, she inspired me to seek a greater purpose in my career than amassing wealth: to enrich society with my work, be curious and supportive. Thank you inspiring moms! We love you, and we will never forget you. Pro tip: let your mom hear that, while she is still alive. Some people do not fully realize what they mean to the people around them.

    • @pipertripp
      @pipertripp 5 лет назад +3

      Yeah, that's the current understanding. Kilonovae happen, me think, more often than previously thought and supernovae don't eject as much heavy material as thought. There were always suspicions about type II supernovae being able to eject as much matter as we observer in the universe. Kilonovae happen enough per galaxy to do the trick. It's a really interesting subject.

    This is the best explanation of a cosmic phenomenon I ever came across. I'm a student of astrology and a lot of what you said makes so much sense when i apply it to some of the principles we use to predict events on earth. Hats off sir. Pleasure listening to the mystery of the cosmos and its creation. Please keep this good work. thanks a bunch

    A couple of your videos showed up on my feed for a couple of weeks without me paying any attention. I decided to watch the first and this the second... I subscribed and I only subscribe when I'm impressed; and I really am impressed. You are very, very good! I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom. I'm sure you meant a lot to her and you miss her incredibly. May Christ give you courage and fill your heart with joy. I know this is a labor of love for you to share your knowledge with the rest of us. Thank you very much!

    it would be cool for their to be an episode with more detail on how them most massive stars die, ie, those that collapse directly into a black hole without a supernova, and then pair-instability and photodisintegration supernovae

    Amazing video. I had a question. At around 9:04 in the video, you state that the outer layers of the sun crash towards the core, this releases immense gravitational energy, and this energy is released in the form of neutrinos. However, this seems to be misleading. If I'm not wrong, the neutrinos are not released during the outer layers crashing towards the core, but rather from the core collapse, combining protons and electrons. Plz correct me if I'm mistaken

    Side note "Professor Ready" would be a great superhero name.

    a small correction: neutrinos, as massive particles, cannot travel at the speed of light. But they are ejected in a supernova at very very close to the speed of light

    Thank you for your wonderful videos, which I have found to be the one of the most informative on astronomy on YT. I am honoured to be able to be a supporter and will be sharing your channel with our kids' high-school science teachers.
    I have been going through your past videos and was sorry to hear about your loss of your mother earlier this year. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
    Otherwise, I was wondering if you have ever produced a video on gravitational lensing or whether thrre would be interest in a video on various citizen-scientist projects, such as those witb Zooniverse. I was thrilled to be part of, say, the "Ice Hunters" project on identifying potential Kuiper belt objects.
