You're chilling I use the wabbajack wasteland prospect I get 60+fps at 1440p
Turn off the shadows and you should be good.
3060 is the same as 4060 so you get 100fps like author

Honestly graphics injectors are vastly overrated for fnv in general, my personal recommendation is always desert natural weathers and a very old mod called py dof and other effects. It includes optional motion blur, head bobimg, and dof, and dont forget dusty distance redone to hide ugly far lods ;)
I usually never comment on videos but I have to say thank you so much for this helpful guide on NVR setting I was trying to find something to help me optimize it to get a balance of visuals and stable FPS
There is one correction I like to make:
There is an NVSE plugin for Reshade that exempts the UI from its effects. Reshade Helper is its name.
I wish I'd known about that before, since that would make Reshade a lot more useful.
I should've also talked about Nvidia's Control Panel SSAO. It has a few problems and is unfortunately very subtle, but it's extremely cheap compared to using AO from Reshade or NVR.
@@PancuroniumB The video was very informative in either case as I was curious about Reloaded. I only learned about the NVSE plugin myself through a friend unfortunately, seems like it flew below the radar quite badly.

It's the engine, no mod rewrites the engine itself, just parts added on top.
Thanks for this, i always wondered how i could make this game shine bright. Having just those texture and weather mods certainly gets you most of the way there. But NVR is like the final touch
Its not shadow maps in ENB. Its the screen space shadows . Thats because they disapear out of the screen space. Enb can't add shadow maps to begin with, because its not a post process effect. Also shadows from sun for example is a part of direct lighting.

Random question but do you know how to turn the sky in NV Reloaded from blue to the more greenish orange of the original style to keep the original atmosphere?

I've resorted to NVR + Reshade, I turned off AO and all the coloring effects from NVR and I have been using Reshade with IMMERSE MXAO (much better optimized with no fps loss) and IMMERSE Antialiasing(you need to turn off MSAA in order to use the depth buffer)

Update: After several days of testing in my mod load order, NVR crashes way too much for me to consider using it. I'm going back to Nut ENB. It's a shame, the game looked really great with the mod on.

@@xezberzs96yo bro! Id seriously recommend using "desert natural weathers", "py dof and other effects", with dusty distance redone. Those 3 mods dwarf any enb imo and will save you sooooo much memory!

when i load in im able to use the menu and tweak the fps but it remains capped at 60 is there a setting that i need to change to remove the cap?
I got it to work make sure vsync is disabled and try launching from the fallout launcher instead of nvse or the exe, don't know if it made a diff but i changed the interval in the document settings to 0 i seen from another video but its all working now!
I am currently modding FNV for my first playthrough ever. I used Viva New Vegas + Salamand3r´s Texture Guide and added a lot more stuff on my own (mostly animations because they are supposed to be save to insert and extract mid playthrough.) but now I tried NVR and I am somewhat disappointed with it. Sure they add shadows, but they flicker horribly and have a weird draw distance with shadows lights seemingly popping in and out the closer you get, both in interiors and exteriors. The tonemapping for HDR is worse than my preset via Reshade and the depth fog has ugly seams everywhere. Only the ambient occlusion and the underwater effects are nice imo but the AO costs way too much performance (like you said) and apparently activating NVR itself is taxing in itself, even though it does nothing with everything disabled. I have 138 FPS with all the mods enabled and it pulls 250W out of my 3080 12 GB. With enabling NVR and all disabled effects (so without any benefits) it straight up pulls 350 W (the max of my GPU). Also the rain effects are weird...they look nice in itself, but it makes everything look like you are walking through a lake.
But the performance issue with nothing enabled kills it off for me. I thought about using it only for the flashlight and maybe the underwater effects, but why let it pull 100W more just to have these effects with no other benefits. I hope they can get more out of this with time. I hope they can get the draw distance stuff and the flicker of shadows out of the way, too.

FNVLodGen is the mod, download recources and any other lod mod that you want and then run the script to generate the assets. Then just zip it and install like any other mod w your preferred mod manager
This is an amazing video, I've never really played NV but I refuse to until I know how to get the best graphics possible. Also I have a 7800xt now so it's going to run a lot better.

@@LSeba91 yep it was very tricky but I got it working well in the end, I'm using New Vegas Reloaded with the Mimic preset and it looks incredible. Had yo turn shadows off indoors because that was killing my FPS.
I'm also running something called Lossless Scaling, it's essentially frame generation software which works in ANY game, can't believe I haven't heard of it until now. It literally doubles your FPS.
Also I tried using DXVK bit that killed the performance in my game for dr reason, for some people it improves things apparently.
Id recommend following the Viva New Vegas guide, it's a pain to get through but it's worth to get the best performance

Also NVR looks like I'm seeing through sun glasses or its overcast like a black shader is over everything but at a 0.3 opacity.
Easiest way is in Data\NewVegasReloaded
vse\Plugins, you replace the NewVegasReloaded.dll.toml file with one from a preset. Not sure what's happening with your graphical glitches, though.

Try getting rid of the heap replacer if you have it, that caused some crashes for me.
Hey man, thanks for your vids. I'm going through FNVEdit and from what I can understand is that NPC can level with the player to level 50. So would it be okay if major(or minor) factions have the flag "PC Mult" and" No low level processing" add to their profiles, like Legion, brotherhood, NCR, etc. Will it affect performance? appreciate any feedback from anyone. "No low level processing" has nothing to do with level scaling and shouldn't be changed.
In FNV I'm fairly certain that NPCs don't level with the player for the most part; instead higher level enemy variants are spawned in depending on your level. I could be wrong about this though.
I had mods that allow free side thug and kings allow more health based on PC's health. Anyways thanks for the feedback
when I install the mod my game crashes constantly when I start a new game anyone got an idea what I am doing wrong? do I have to use a preset?
Do you have enhanced camera installed? thats what was causing it for me.
Why would you want over 60fps when physics are tied to the fps?
New Vegas Tick Fix fixes that issue entirely. With it enabled everything works perfectly up to... 300fps I'm pretty sure? Then you can just manually cap it with something else if you're somehow exceeding that or just want things to be smoother.

Idk if it will work with new vegas since it's mainly for dx8 games ( but i think it works for dx9 )
And even if it works , an open world path traced game like new vegas will absolutely destroy performance even on a 4090
You could use DXVK to convert the old DirectX to Vulkan. I use it to enable combatibility with Nvidia's RTX HDR and boy does the game look great (for an old game) on my HDR TV.
Funny because the depth buffer for me in reshade works great with all shades. Meanwhile new vegas reloaded keeps going crazy when the camera zooms in for conversations. It is completly off and it stops, just the depth buffer. The game keeps going.

NVR is very unstable
Followed your guide n it doesnt work. Instead it make the pip boy bugged with smaller screen and item/data button becomes unusable. Any idea how to fix? I only have heap and anti crash mod installed
Try getting rid of the Heap Replacer, it has caused crashes for me with NVR. Someone else had the same glitch as you a few years ago and fixed it by disabling archive invalidation. It's worth a try.
You need to use your native monitor resolution, or menus like Pip-Boy will look smaller.
Heap Replacer may be finicky with NVR. It is ill-advised to install Heap Replacer with NVR. Use DXVK instead.
@@DanielClear2 Oh no.. I'm playing ttw and heap replacer is one of the required mods. Will ttw still work with dxvk? Cause I'm not willing to give up ttw but this mod just looks so good
A 1050 could definitely handle this mod with some manual tweaking tho. I have that on a laptop and use Oblivion Reloaded Combined (pretty much the same thing except that for Oblivion) leaving only the enhanced shadows, water and ambient occlusion with no issues
Would you happen to know which .INI controls the surfaces for Real Time Reflections?
I have it set on true ATM, but it is applying to too many things, and I just wanted to find the list where I can flag things.
I'm pretty sure the meshes themselves need support for RTR, unless you enable it for all envmapped surfaces. But like you've noticed, enabling that setting makes many objects that really shouldn't be reflective incredibly so.

RTR needs individual .nif patching (down to specific blocks in the mesh so only the parts that ought to be reflecting do) to really work like it should. NVMIM is supposedly going to patch these at some point but it's been quite a while since it last updated and no word of when that's happening.

It depends on the laptop's specs, the resolution you're targeting, the effects you enable, and your standard for what framerate is acceptable.

Ngl, I just use a weather mod that makes it less pissy in colour... it sorta has avibe that everything is just brighter and orangey and blue at the same time instead of piss yellow
I only clock 24fps regardless of settings on my 1080ti(at 1440p) with and without DXVK installed
It'll still be 24fps with everything enabled, 24 with everything disabled
@@Ontarian14Are you using a TV? Or perhaps your monitor supports 24hz? There's a chance the game auto picks 24hz instead of 60/120/whatever and v-sync-locks the FPS to 24.
What about rtx remix?
for that you need a team actively developing an NV rtx mod, and with the engine new vegas uses, and lack of support atm, it's a far thing to happen, eventually maybe, but NVR is the best you can get

Should be about as good as my RTX 4060, so a great experience at 1080p, playable at 1440p.

There is no lighting in New Vegas, that's the whole problem.
makes sense you like anime, everything looks flat in anime lighting.
I mean, this video is also using a weather mod that significantly changes the game's colors. You could avoid all that and literally just have proper shadows.
Just the Moonlight mod helps a lot for lighting at night. Desert Natural Weathers helps with colors during the day.
I don't think shadows are such a big deal, and they drastically reduce performance.
at the time of playing the game w/ an HD7450 and an I5-2320, that id still encounter the same problems even in modern hardware. embryo man
How well would a 3060 perform at 1080p compared to your 4060? (Same settings)
P.S you're at 1440p right?
The 4060 is hardly an upgrade from the 3060, there's maybe a 10% difference. 1080p should give you a 50-75% higher framerate in GPU-limited scenarios compared to 1440p. It should run well.
I’ve got an RTX 4080 with an i7 13700kf and NVR tanks my performance to where the game is practically unplayable. I have no idea how you’re getting close to 70-80 frames, I can’t get NVR to break 60 even with every single mod in my mod list disabled besides the VNV bug fixes and patches. I’m playing in 4k so maybe that is what the issue is? But regardless I can run my mod list with 240+ mods at 140fps but the second I turn on reloaded it destroys my frame rate. I’ve swapped over to DXVK, I’ve used the exact same settings you used in the video and even disabled more settings and still don’t get anywhere close to what you’re getting. The support for NVR is also pretty trash, I’ve posted to the discord and didn’t even get acknowledged in regards to the performance issues. I have no idea how this mod gets so much praise, unless people are just content with dogshit performance. On my pc I would hope that I’d be able to play new Vegas of all things at a better fps than 55. If you have any advice or tips I’d love to hear it, NVR looks great but isn’t worth the trade off at the moment
4K is a lot more intensive than 1440p, but that is strange. In every single benchmark for every other game I've ever seen, the 4080 at 4K is significantly faster than the 4060 at 1440p. The only guess I can think of is maybe you're using high MSAA, 4x or 8x. Check your iMultiSample settings in FalloutPrefs.ini and Falloutcustom.ini.
The impact MSAA has in GPU-limited situations can't be overstated. With DXVK and no graphics mods, using 8x MSAA at 4K (DSR on a 1440p monitor), I can get between 60-80 FPS in Point Lookout's very GPU taxing forests, but with no MSAA, it's 150-190. I don't have NVR installed right now, but I imagine the difference would be 15 fps versus 45-50.
If you're not using TTW, I'd recommend going to The Thorn to see your worst case FPS scenario. The fire barrels there tank performance. If you can exceed your framerate target running around that place with NVR, you should be good 99.9% of the time.
0:28 Honestly, New Vegas's 3D assets _are_ pretty bad even for its time. Obsidian had very good writers, but their 3D artists weren't great and they didn't have much time to cobble the game together. Fallout 3 is just as technologically primitive, and has its own permanent colour filter, but it looks a lot more visually interesting and coherent because the art design is just better.
Yeah, you can fault FO3 for a lot of things, but it's art direction was great. Only modern Fallout that LOOKED like Fallout.
would a 1660 super be a good enough graphics card to run this efficiently
At 1920x1080 or lower with some effects disabled, probably.

@@arremangalaarrepujala. With a modern CPU+GPU combination, unless you are playing at a very high resolution with 4/8x MSAA or using ENB/NVR, the game will be CPU limited.
Some areas of FNV are ridiculously badly optimized. REPCONN HQ will drop even the fastest CPUs down to 140 fps. LStewieAL's Tweaks and Engine Fixes can help pump up CPU limited fps by a lot, so give that a try.

Is New Vegas using your laptop GPU? The 4060M should be close to the desktop 4060, good for at least 60 fps at 1440p, even more at 1080p.

@@adichong4416 Where? In Device Manager? Just search graphics settings in Windows and make sure FalloutNV.exe is set to High Performance, then the game will use your actual GPU. Although if you're trying to run NVR at 4K with 8x MSAA or something, you might actually already be using your real GPU.

loading into the game with the water effect turned off and never turning it on has me at about 130fps
At this point modders should just create a purpose built engine to port the game to.

Fallout 4 doesn't really need a lighting upgrade, in my opinion.
enb is bad, but compatible with dxvk (you are just bad modder, no offense), and its main problem - anti aliasing, can be fixed by putting some smaa injector files to the main game directory. Enb bugs and lack of compability with textures is the worst thing.

Hey guys, sorry for the dumb question but what exactly is NVR? Is it a mod I install in MO2? Or is it a completely different game on its own? I just installed 30+ mods on my regular NV and I dont wanna start all over if i have to re-download the entire game.

I have an Intel 620 laptop graphics card from like 15 years ago, so I have to skip most of these.
TLDR: Install fallout reloaded, turn off pretty much everything
even with the heavy hitting features disabled the game still looks leagues better in terms of color and vibrancy.

Because Crysis came out three years EARLIER. Of course it's an outlier but FNV really did look awful, we just didn't really care.
Red Dead Redemption came out in the same year as New Vegas, both have a desert setting yet RDR looks almost a generation ahead, since NV lacked even basic diagonal movement.

It still looks so awful. There's no mod that can make New Vegas look even remotely like Fallout 4. It's just an outdated engine. The only remedy to this is the fan project making New Vegas in Fallout 4.

The only good thing about this mod is its real time shadows, all the other effects are just as cancerous looking as in any enb
eshade out there. Shame that nvr4 adds some kind of untoggable color correction so it couldn't be combined with better looking ENBs.
