One thing I’m not sure the American fans realise is how good a rugby player and how good a career he has walked away from. He wasn’t just a pro rugby player. He was one of the brightest talents in world rugby. I hope he gets a chance. He obviously has a lot to learn, but unlike most rookies, he completely understands pro sport… the dedication, training, mindset, pressure… etc.
This guy is impressive. He knows he’s new to the sport but while respecting the challenge he is also aware of his natural ability. I really hope he succeeds.
As the chiefs religiously insisting to add difficulties and dramas around mahomes weapons (juju, now rashee rice, and kt) he'll probably going to ball out and save the kingdom
I really hope he makes the team and gets some time on the field, I've only been following American football the last 3ish years but I'm a massive rugby fan.
Brother I’ve been a fan of American football my entire life. Not only do I believe he’ll make the team, but I truly believe his style will transition successfully just based on his athleticism alone. It might take a year, but he’s young! Can’t wait to see him play
@@SavageMMA12 Nor me to be honest, he must be doing something right for the Chiefs to want to give him time on the mic or would they do that with everyone?? I know the short clips there is don't give much away but his form etc looks decent
Great interview. Great responses from Louis. Very natural and charming. Good luck Louis from back here in Wales. Watching your journey with interest and rooting for you. I hope you can contribute and be a great asset to The Chiefs.
As a Welshman I was gutted when he first announced he was leaving rugby, definitely a little angry too. Now that a little time has passed I couldn't wish him more luck for he future, make Wales known in the NFL!!
For anyone who hasn't watched it I would highly recommend going and watching the international player pathway videos. They follow LRZ through the camp all the way up until he is signed with the Chiefs it's pretty amazing.
If he can crack the game, he has the charm, intelligence and looks to be very marketable. I'm sure all Louis is thinking about is the on-field aspect. Good luck to him. He was a very good rugby player. You have to be to play for the British and Irish Lions.
I think the whole of Wales are missing you i’m sure you will show Welsh spirit to the game in America, and it will be admired all over the world. Best of luck.
He may be a rookie with a lot to learn technically but he is an elite level athlete and seasoned professional who has played regularly at the highest level of world rugby and has big game mentality. He has all the physical and mental tools to make it, he just needs to keep his head down and avoid all the off field distractions.
The US pundits are very confused with how the Chiefs are handling LRZ. They couldn't envisage him making the grade but he seems to have defied expectations, and coaches are very impressed. This has lead to the Chiefs not going after more wide receivers and other offensive players that they were expected to go for. Rookie mini camp seems to have opened some disbelieving eyes.
He has the natural talent, he just needs to learn the playbook. An Andy Ried playbook is not really a book it's a volume. Some players still don't get it even after year two.
He certainly has talent but he’s so far behind in terms of general football knowledge that it’s unlikely he’ll make the roster right away (maybe a punt returner)
@@thund3r94 I know he's got a lot to learn but he's grown up watching the game and even took time when the rugby season ended to go to the states and train with football coaches, I know that doesn't compare to a kid from America growing up with football but I think he's more knowledgeable about the game than what people think, his dad used to play American football in UK

Seahawks fan, really love what this kid brings to the game and the Chiefs are a great place for him. Hope he makes the roster it will be huge. I can see him being really good on designed screens, catching out of the backfield, He might be ELITE at wheel routes, Hook and ladder, designed laterals, getting open for a late checkdown and getting YAC for a first, he should be really good at breaking tackles with good physicality and awareness, nice speed And lots more. He is a very talented athlete. Runningback makes sense for him but he isnt really a “running back” but its the best way to get him schemed in on plays. Chiefs are so fun to watch and continue to try and change the game of football while they can with the great team they have built. Good luck this season you guys, you are always hard to beat. They want to have an explosive offense, he can add to it if he can learn quickly. He has time to develop though, no need to throw him out there when hes too raw. Good luck Louis Rees Zammit ! Holding on to the ball and not letting opponents trip it from you is a concept I hope he is able to perfect since in rugby, they rarely try to strip the ball from each other
In rugby we rarely rip the ball because rugby players are very good at keeping hold of it. You lose the ball by having it ripped from you your team will tell you straight!!!!
@JamesJones-do8rj fingers crossed 🤞 cuz NFL players who've trained their whole lives to be the best at their craft still get stripped...so hopefully you're right
Since I'm always hanging out in the area when in town, I think he just needs to go with "Louis Lees Summit". Makes it easier for the local folks.
