Thank You for being explicit and patient on video (making Gusset too).
I’m cutting on 6 to 7 ounces leather, front & back sheets size 9 1/2” X 13 1/2” (square corners), to make tight map case or messenger bag/sleeve to keep steady & transport MacBookPro.
    - All around Gusset is 2” X 46 1/2”
    - Strap is 7/8” X 36”
    - Pad is 1 3/4” X 6”.
Ussing on top side a 13 3/4” zipper (cutting Gusset on 9 1/2” by top side inverted “U” shape or []), so, it falls 2” on each side of Case, enough to slide LapTop in and out..
The Support or Sleeve in Video is 1 3/4” X 6”, using double holes (as green template) to provide much more support as 5 pounds weight will be distributed evenly along the 6” X 1 3/4” double leather 1/4”.
Best Regards from Mexico City (where we use metric system, so: m, cm & mm are measuring)

Great video, I'm making a strap for my son's laptop bag I'm making him and was wondering if you could tell me about how long you usually make your straps? My son is 5'11" tall if that helps, I'm new to leather working and trying to learn all I can. Thank you so much for your help, appreciate it. Tammy

One question: That edge dressing you used doesn't look like Tokonole, so is it Gum Tragacanth?

Would you mind if I use your free leather shoulder strap pattern for my video on customizing an existing pattern? I would put a link to this video in the description.

Is 1 in. the smallest slot you would make, or is the slot always the same size as your strap?

Thank You for such a patient teaching.
I am making for the nieces of mine and myself, these 6 bags to keep & transport MacBook Pro 24 X 34 on 6 to 7 ounces, squared corners, zipper on 24” top.Strap is 7/8” X 32”
As weight is about 5 pounds, nieces asked for a commfortable shoulder strap so your green template 6 X 1 3/4 seams to be adecuate to distribute evenly weight over almost 3/16” leather (double)
      Best Regards
