    It's important to explain that the TV fee helps to subsidize TV channels. It avoids having untimely advertisements in abundance as there may be on American TV channels. That's why un France you can watch a 01h30 movie on TV and only have one commercial break.

    Pleasantly surprised to see how affordable day-to-day expenses are in Paris. Grocery items are priced a bit higher in 🇨🇦 than in the 🇺🇸, so a weekly haul can get quite pricey. I'm with you on the Sunday morning grocery shopping, Tiff! I go first thing when the supermarket opens and it's usually me, 2 or 3 elderly customers and the employees. 😂

    Worth remembering that there are dozens of open air markets every day in Paris. Whether you live here or are just staying in an Airbnb, buying fresh fruit & veg from the market is cheaper and a nice cultural experience. On the other hand, lots of people buy all their groceries from the supermarket these days -the idea that French people shop every day is pretty outdated now, and it's definitely more convenient.

      Bonjour Charles,
      Cordialement.

    How does Wise work?
    When you "sign up" for Wise, is that like opening an account with Wise?
    And you transfer money from your U.S. bank account to Wise, who will then transfer the money to your French bank account?

    • @TiffanieDavis
      @TiffanieDavis  3 года назад +2

      When you sign up you connect both your U.S. & French accounts! When you want to transfer money you input the amount / currency / which bank you want it to come out of and the same for which bank it’s going to - showed this part in the video!

    Do you have cable for your TV? Do you pay the TV tax in addition to the cable fee? Here in California, we have satellite and it is about $175.00 per month. Our internet is extra. I sure hope we don't have to pay an additional tax. I did hear that Parisians do spend a lot of their income on food.

    • @pathallam986
      @pathallam986 3 года назад

      Most people pay for a bundle that includes internet and TV that's connected to the internet box. And yes, the TV licence fee is additional if you have a television set.

    The tv tax is interesting, looks like it's basically averaging out to 13 usd a month? Not so bad when you think of it that way. Tiff, do you have to pay the tax if you don't have a tv and perhaps just use your computer to consume media?

    • @TiffanieDavis
      @TiffanieDavis  3 года назад +3

      If you have a TV set at all (even if you never watch TV programmes on it) you have to pay. On the other hand, if you watch TV on a computer, you don't.

    • @zeblackjapanese
      @zeblackjapanese 2 года назад +2

      Hello, to answer the question, first of all every year you have what we call a "fiche d'impôts", a " Tax slip" in english. On that document you are asked if you have a TV set. If you answer yes then you'll have to pay the tax, if you answer no, you'll not have to pay the tax. But be sure to say no only if you don't have a TV set at home because if you say no and you still have a Tv set at home, you will have to pay a fine if the investigators realize that you're lying.
      But if you don't want to pay that tax, don't buy a TV set and just watch tv shows on your laptop.

    • @mussardi8867
      @mussardi8867 2 года назад

      Bonjour Sara,
      Cette taxe de 138 euros par an ,c'est pour garder la neutralité de la télévision publique par rapport à la publicité. La télévision publique peut refuser une publicité si celle-ci n'est pas recommandée et aussi garder une neutralité dans le domaine politique parce que la télévision privée est gérée par de grands groupes financiers et cela pourrait être un danger pour la démocratie.
      Et il y'a très peu de publicité dans les chaînes de télévision et les radios publiques et les films ne sont pas coupés de spots publicitaires. Mais vous pouvez regarder la télévision avec un ordinateur et dans ce cas vous ne payez pas .
      A mon grand regret, cette taxe va être supprimée en 2023. Et beaucoup de partis politiques sont contre sa suppression car l'impartialité du débat politique sera en danger. J'ai toujours payé cette taxe car la vraie démocratie a un prix.
      Bonjour à vous de Paris. .

    WoW tv tax. Does this tax include cable/internet/netflix/gaming/movie channels? The Grocer is a little pricey for IL considering how many items you purchased in two trips. I dont eat out much so I would save on this task. For one person I think overall its pricey.

    • @pathallam986
      @pathallam986 3 года назад

      No, the internet and choice of TV channels usually come bundled in a monthly subscription; the licence fee is on top of that. It pays for the public TV network which is not funded through lots of advertising.

      Bonjour Georgina ,
      Nous payons 11 euros par moi pour ne pas avoir une télévision gérée par la publicité et aussi pour avoir un programme de qualité pour face à la télévision privée de mauvaise qualité et pour une pluralité d'information car la télévision privée est gérée par des grands groupes financiers. C'est aussi pour proteger la démocratie et avoir une information plurielle et libre de toute influence financière ou de loby.
      Bonjour de Paris.

    I used to follow Tiffany until she started showing her “passport” to go about her daily business.Paris is not as she is portraying and I understand she wants to boost her following.However ,how would she feel about not being allowed entry to various venues etc based on the colour of her skin would she scream you can’t do that it’s discrimination because that would be hypocritical would it not? Happy to accept discrimination against a certain sector of society as long as it doesn’t affect her

    • @mussardi8867

      Bonjour Shirley,
      Je vis en France depuis 40 ans et je n'ai jamais été discreminé aussi bien pour le travail que pour autres choses sinon je serai reparti chez moi. Bien que j'ai une peau foncé. Aujourd'hui je suis retraité et j'ai une retraite qui me permet de vivre décemment. J'ai toujours eu les mêmes droits que les français bien que étant étranger. Et je ne suis pas une exception. D'ailleurs si les personnes d'origine africaine étaient discriminés, elles ne seraient pas des millions à vouloir venir en France. Je peux vous dire que la majeure partie des délits sont commis par les personnes que vous semblez défendre. Je vis en région parisienne et j'en sais quelque chose. Un acte de racisme est considéré comme grave en France et sévèrement puni.Je trouve injuste de dire des choses aussi graves et infondées.La France est le pays où il y'a le plus de mariage mixte et où nait le plus grand nombre d'enfants métis.
      Je suis contre toutes discriminations mais aussi contre toutes contre-vérités .
      Bien à vous.
