Man that's great to hear!! You got it in, now finding that work life balance is the key! I'm struggling with that a little, as my IT job (certification goals)takes up a lot of my time, but I'm staying centered and trying to make it happen. Mental Health is extremely important, in finding the balance, and not losing yourself from what matters the most. Proud of ya my man...
Congrats man! I passed my CompTIA Network+ like 2 weeks ago, i know its nothing to be compared to the BIG certs like the CCNA, let alone the CCNP.... BUT it did land me an tier 1 NOC engineer position at an data center! Its an amazing opportunity to get my feet in the door! I was struggling allot with subnetting thus I'll need to continue to work on my subnetting skills and then I'll start studying for the CCNA. Your videos where definitely an inspiration.
@@richardrodgersjr1241 just watch proffesor Messers video. For the N+ just videos would be enough, for the CCNA and beyond, a homelab setup is required.
It’s been a pleasure keeping up with your videos, congrats on the promotion! Your vids encouraged me to start in IT, my first day at my IT Hepdesk Internship is tomorrow!! Thank you :D
Man you keep getting the Gains!!!! I am very proud of you. Keep growing. I am still working on studying for the CCNA. Labbing up and listening to Jeremy’s IT lab lectures. But CONGRATS 🎉 So proud of you! You will be in a SR position before too long
Brendan, I really enjoy the content. You bring an honest, encouraging and realistic point of view about this field. It was interesting to see you go from help desk, to network engineer, to wireless admin, now to wireless engineer. In my own career I worked my way up only to realize i needed to take a step back in order to make a change in direction for my career path. Keep up the great work, great content, and the gains.
Man I feel you... The higher I seem to go, the harder it is for me to stay committed to the gym. Keep searching! Im sure youll get some bites soon. Have you check out of state for jobs?
Congratulations on the monumental accomplishment and achievement, I know it was a lot of hard work, to get there. New subscriber. The first video previous to this was one you failed. Then this one you passed. Awesomeness.
Congrats my dude!!! Would be nice to hear what some of your daily tasks are now that you are a wireless network… Engineer! I just recently landed a new job as well in May as an Engineer III for Verizon at one of their main network management centers! So far it’s been amazing and I’m learning a ton. I’m currently studying for my CCNP. Any tips to stay focused and consistent on the study grind? Thanks and congrats again!
One thing I can say is to FOR SURE! Give yourself a break occasionally. Studying for the CCNP low key, burnt me out because tried to speed run the material. I passed the cert but now I'm drained when it comes to progressing further.

(UK Based) I recently made a career change from theatre performing to IT, taking on a Level 3 apprenticeship in Azure Cloud. My actual job role is app support/help desk; what would be your advice to someone with 0 experience in IT in making the most of my first year in this new industry? I think I'll complete my apprenticeship, get my certification (as well as MS-900 & AZ-900) and head onto a different role?
Congratulations on your promotion, you didn't allow a setback to immobilize your goals. Life can beat you down but determination can charge you back up.
Hey man, I love these videos. I’m a fresh graduate and I’ve been working in a help desk role for about a year and a half and I am wanting to get into networking. What would you suggest for someone who has little knowledge and wants to get involved quickly?
Best thing you can do is get a certification under your belt. How familiar are you with networking? Like what exactly do you mean by having little knowledge?
@@TheBuffNerd7539 lets just say zero knowledge. I know how to look into a Meraki dashboard and Unifi dashboard in order to tell me that an office was down and whether or not I can ping the WAN in order to tell them to call their ISP. Very little to no network knowledge here
@@ItsDePriest It depends on how deep you want to dive. If you want to understand the 5 W's of networking then I would say go for the Net+. It will teach you all of the terms and things. If you want a deeper dive on things.. Going over Troubleshooting, Routing and Switching, Subnetting and a dab of Automation. I would suggest the CCNA certification. How deep do you want to dive?
@@TheBuffNerd7539 I’ll go as deep as I possibly can. I just didn’t know how far certifications would get me without more practical experience. I’ve always been a hands on learner compared to learning from books.
I have a question big bro, please can you speak on this very important subject? Basically I noticed most people will polish themselves to a corporate standers when it comes to looks so they can move on, how are you able to do so with dreadlocks ? I had to cut mine just to get an helpdesk remote position 🥲
You had to cut your locs? Did they specifically state you had to cut them? I’m a System Admin with locs and I’d be dammed if a company required or even desired that. I would not work for a company like that IMO.
For me its always been about competence. I've been told that my hairstyle didn't matter by hiring managers. They focused more on my personality (being coach-able, articulate etc..) . On the government side its even more lenient (from my experience).
