when my old dog (mini schnauzer male 15 yrs old) my mutt no longer had her playmate we waited for 6-7 weeks to get a new puppy and my mutt picked the new puppy. my other old dog (mini schnauzer female15 yrs old) was just a go with the flow sort of dog she accepted the puppy right away and she never played or anything but lived for walks and chillin on the couch. I did allow her to dominate the puppy due to her age... the mutt and the puppy both didnt bother her at all. all my dogs are neutered and spaded by 6 months. the schnauzers were 1/2 brother and sister..
