The story, so illustrative of a period long past, hearkens so evocatively of these troubling times of innuendo and supposition driving the pious hypocrites of mindless marionettes and self-righteous ingrates more determined to unite in defense of the illusion than to self reflect upon the small injustices inevitable among the self absorbed throngs of mediocrities feigning concern but replete of any genuine empathy or human understanding. The exception, our daydreaming heroine with a keen awareness of reality that challenges the status quo suddenly confronted with a dose of sanity intent on silencing the voice of reason in some isolated corner of an asylum. Wherein she emerges free from the oppressive bonds of her inferiors.😅😅
My very best book of all times ❤ I read it first over 30 years ago,and reread multiple times since then. This lector is fantastic, Barney finally has his proper voice. I love it ❤
The name of this author was unknown to me. As I listened to this work of art I realized in my opinion, I was listening to a classic. However I did not realize that it IS a classic already. I am halfway through it and IN it. Magnificent tone. Authentic. Much I can relate to. Gratitude blooms in me as she experiences it. This book explodes with life with this reader. I think this is the longest, type with one finger " on a small screen that I have ever done. I don't guarantee that you will love this book. Reflects a Gratitude journey.
Montgomery is perhaps Canada‘s most prolific and beloved author. She was born in 1874 and this book was written in 1926 at a time when most of Canada was still living in the Victorian era. I particularly recommend “Anne of Green Gables” and “Emily of New Moon”.
I really enjoyed this audio book! Deeper than most. Clean and discripitive. I appreciated the narrator. Really brought the book to life in my mind. Several twists and turns along the way. It was a little slow in the beginning, but it was worth it!! I think this book would make a great movie!
I have loved this book since I was given it secondhand as a child. I’ve lost that copy, but LOVED listening to it again. The narrator does a wonderful job. A beautiful story!
First time I allowed myself to listen to a book that started slow and kept this tenor throughout. I enjoy the slow and steady not bad at all. Some would describe as boring and depending what type of listener an individual it can be mistake as such.
I can't believe it took me 2hours to realize that this the most boring & lamenting compilation of words that I have ever heard!!!! I even skipped to see if it actually went somewhere after the death diagnosis, but no,it just kept on complaining!!!
I'm listening a second time in a row. I enjoyed it so much. Which I just thought I'd share since so many shared it was too boring. 😅❤ her family is very annoying but I just pictured them like Tim Burton characters. Something about it reminded me of the movie Amélie which I also loved.
2:33:21 by this bookmark is when I really started finding the book enjoyable. Her family is less annoying and actually just super funny, because they are so self centered and close minded, they just can't imagine a twenty nine year old woman could have any thoughts or opinions of her own. Maybe it's just funny for me because I know so many people like that.
Thank you Bryn. You brought this lovely lovestory to its height. Wonderful narrator, such a beautiful voice.
Thank you so much, it's my beloved blood from my childhood. I'm sick now and listening to it helps a lot
Love the narrator. Gives the story so much emotion.

Thank you
I have really enjoyed this gentle love story. Set in the early 1900's and probably written in that same era.
Written in 1926 though in a part of Canada which (as was most of Canada) still very much living in the Victorian era.
I've loved the story ever since I first read it as a girl. Thanks for recording it and what a nice accent😊
Thank you for posting this beautiful story

Better love in the shack than hate in the house.
If you endure; the end is satisfying.
