  • Ema is the eldest child of a Dumagat family, residing in the Sierra Madre Region of the Philippines. Though just a girl for now, her childhood days are numbered, as she will soon be wed to a young boy from the tribe. But before that milestone, Ema has much to discover about the forest, as women are the primary hunters and gatherers in Dumagat societies. Accompanied by her mother and aunts, she sets out on a journey to absorb this essential wisdom before her betrothal ceremony with her beloved.

Love the simplicity: everyone learns the skills and hunts, knowledge is shared in small groups so everyone benefits, tools are made together. No divisions, no hierarchy, just living in and with the forest.

    The 1st People.
Original Aboriginal, from 80,000 years ago before Dayak people migrate from Southeast Asia 60,000 years ago into Sunda Land and regularly intermarry with them.
But some Original Aboriginal as the Dumagat stay remote and isolated, no intermarry with Ancestors of Austronesian Dayaks.
Even then, Sunda Aboriginals and Austronesian Aboriginals together have the same ancestors who traveled from East Africa 98,000 years ago across Indian Subcontinent into prehistoric Sunda and Sahul land masses, taking 43 thousand years to reach there from East Africa.
One branch split south into Sunda and Sahul and the other branch ended up in Southern China. The Southern China group are represented by those such as the Dayaks of Borneo, whose ancestors migrated again southward into Sunda and intermarried with the Original Aboriginal Branch, which became the recent and modern Austronesians who later became the Pacific Ocean Seafarers.
