Excellent. It's one thing to be a good pilot yourself, very hard to be a teacher and a pilot at the same time. A good instructor is worth their weight in gold.
Marcus Grimstad hah, yeah we joke around a lot and I mess with him all the time, so now that we switched roles, it’s hard for him to keep a straight face.
You learn most about flying when instructing. Great video. You have to fly, speak and use terms that the student can easily understand. Ha ha, luv it when your student says, "Take Me Back" you have a great instructor 🙄
Mike Schultze I agree that teaching is one of the best ways to learn. Especially having to teach the same maneuvers over and over, it really cements a good set of core skills.
First time flying from the left seat. It's almost like learning to fly all over again since your hand is in a really awkward position and you can't brace your arm on your leg like you can flying with the cyclic down or right seat.
If you're the flight instructor that's pretending to be a student, teaching an instructor student is not that much harder than just teaching a regular student, except now you get to act like someone who doesn't know what they're doing. That part is actually pretty fun! However, it will never quite be the same as actually instructing a new student that legitimately doesn't know how to fly. The instructor that is pretending to be the student will never exceed limitations of the helicopter. A real student will if you let them.

Great role playing by the instructor, had to swallow his laughter a couple of times. 😂😂👍🏻

Very informative Ian, I must say better than any mediocre training video where you'd hardly come across multiple mistakes such as these.
binged watched all day. You two work well together and this was a cool segment. Stoked and keep the camera rollin’
Good stuff, man. I can tell you two are quite the duo at this point. I also learned a lot from this. I feel like I'm ready to go flying!
I will never instruct lol It's too scary - great learning/practice for essentially 'mastering' the maneuvers and retaining the info. Great work man.
Thanks for this great video! Makes me want to try instructing!
Excellent video!
This is brilliant.. thank you so much for posting this.
Thanks for sharing ^^ I'll start my FI course in 10 days and I was SO curious eheh
Great video! So where you at on your aviation career these days?
That looks rock hard to do. So many things to have to keep an eye on over and above the normal hovering.
It is at first, but like anything, you get used to it and it becomes second nature.
Excellent!
Hello there. Can a fresh cpl helicopter pilot apply to get cfi certificate or is there certain hour experience requirement?
Sure looks like fun! I want to take a helicopter lesson now.
Do you have any study guides that you could share by email??
What is your opinion on the alleged "job shortage" in the helicopter world?
Love your videos
What u plan on doing after all your ratings??
I'm going to instruct for a few years and then see what opportunities present themselves then for moving onto a turbine platform.
@@CriticalAngle I have a question ? Is your school April first to 10 active.
That does really look like my discovery flight trying to hover, actually it was even worse than that
Why were you all wobbly in the beginning ?

how do you learn to be a instructor of a flight instructor? haha

Miss these days. Ugh!
