    as a bisexual your content has made me feel the most happy with my identity than i have ever been since realizing i was bi :,) i just seldom find a place in the world where bisexuality is appreciated and treated with respect and im not made to feel like im "not gay enough" or promiscuous or anything like that. have been binging your content all week and rlly love ur channel and hope it grows!

    Haha yes! As a bi person watching sex education I kinda was expecting her to come out. I hope she does in future seasons

    Thank you for your video! I'm just realising I was convinced Maeve and Olla were bi since the beginning of the show and it just hit me they were not canonically, openly bi+ when the show started... After watching the second season, I was confused they felt the need make Olla came out until I realised she hadn't come out yet. That's how bi coded they both were since the very beginning.
    I'm really hoping Maeve ditches Otis and starts existing for herself in future seasons, and proclaims her bisexuality loud and clear!

    This is amazing, I love your take on Maeve. Although it’s so utterly sad ugh. But I think it’s very interesting, it seems like every person who watches sex education loves maeve, like in a different way they love the other characters. Like it doesn’t matter if they are straight or gay, that’s really interesting. I mean my love for definitely come from her being bi coded and other things. Like I definitely have a thing for female characters written like this, and that being unknown I guess. But thank you so much for this video! I loved it and it made me think so yay

    It’s also interesting how Maeve is written as poor but somehow it doesn’t affect her a huge amount in day to day activities. The fact that she has this much time to dedicate to reading feminist literature, rather than having to get another job to support herself while studying. Kids at school who came from underprivileged backgrounds almost always struggled at school simply because they did not have a stable enough home life to dedicate time to their studies. Not to say that people who grow up poor cannot be exceptional, but Maeve seems to be an extreme example of this.

    Wow I just watched this video and immediately subbed . Maeve is my favourite character ever and I fall in the bi- Pan spectrum , I always thought Maeve was queer and this makes so much sense . Maeve is my favourite character in the series . Maeve - Aimee are my favourite duo . This video made so much sense and I love love love this show . I would love to see your take on Maeve ‘ s treatment in season 3, I personally loved her happy- ish ending , and the Maeve Aimee scenes in the season . Season 3 is my favourite season only because of the Maeve and Aimee .

    I really enjoyed watching this and am excited to view it again. I had my own theories as to why they've been correlating Maeve and Adam's stories and characterizations, but I never connected the dots as you did here, in how Maeve is being presented as the visual of the mirrored bisexual experience to Adam (even if writers aren't explicitly saying it). While I personally *do* feel that Maeve has had subtle individual character growth since the start of the show, I don't think it's enough to warrant or overcome all that she's been "tortured" with over the course of the last two seasons, and as you mentioned, I can only hope that they lighten up on her character to really allow her to flourish in her own right. Thanks again! :)

    watching this with context of how the show's final two seasons ended up just makes me even more sad of how much wasted potential the show had. imagine if the slow over arching plot was Maeve dealing with this and her poverty. meanwhile in the actual show they basically just erase the poverty struggle and give her to Otis without it feeling like anything happened. I can't even remember how they got together or how they dealt with their long distance relationship in the final season. it all just felt like nothing.

    So, is an interest in literature and poetry a Bi coding? Does this go back to Dead Poet's Society (1989)?

    • @blackandwhitethinking
      @blackandwhitethinking  3 года назад +2

      in my opinion, i would say so. its definitely something i've noticed. there is a big revival of it happening at the moment in gen z spaces called 'dark academia' and its very bi dead poets vibes!

      @@blackandwhitethinking It's funny, since I am a long way from Gen Z, that I love dark academia aesthetics, but I just read it as civilized Goth. Maybe I just like to think there are vampires in the stacks.

      @@blackandwhitethinking Also how about having to confront her feelings of rejection and disaapointment from her mom . On top of making the decision to call cps on her mom because of the drug use , doing whats right instead of whats easy seems like a lot of growth for a character in following a true path of what aligns with herself
