Blacholes don't just affect space, but also time. The closer you get to the center of a Blackhole, the more time slows down from an outside persepctive, while for you, time outside seems to speed up. Having Void slows down the theme of the level was a brilliant decision by the sound design team.
I forgot about Blue Cube for a really long time, until years later I started watching this really obscure series called "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure" or something, and when I got to part 5, I heard it again when Leone Abbacchio's theme was revealed...
All of the themes seems to really fit the wisps, let me explain: White Boost - Makes the music sound distorted to sound like your traveling faster, not really that special Cyan Laser - Sounds just like a laser should, lots of synths and at a fast pace, like how light travels Yellow Drill (Land) - Sounds like an *underground* dance party if you catch my drift Yellow Drill (OG Water) - Much more peacful, but can be just as destructive as on land Yellow Drill (LW Water) - You're not actively trying to destroy everything in your path, now you're just swimming, hence why It'd be so calm Orange Rocket - This is just a synthesized rocket launch Green Hover - Sounds like you're just floating in space, sithout a care in the world Blue Cube - *SPEED CUBING INTESIFIES* Pink Spike - Destructive, and much like drill, raving Purple Frenzy - Thanksgiving, but the DJ was invited Red Burst (OG) - Spikes theme is rehashed here, but it was made to fit the firey aspects of burst Red Burst (LW) - One of if not the best wisp song SEGA could have come up with. Also, it doesn’t have a theme song in the Wii U version, but it behaves as a powerup instead. Bomb is Wii U exclusive, and cannot be obtained, or used in the Steam version of the game.
The theme for the Green hover wisp is something you can hear when you are floating in outer space 🌌 seeing the vast stars, galaxies while admiring the unknown and vibrant and colorful beauty of the cosmos.
I just noticed that you can essentially combine 2 Wisps to make a Wisp: Example: Blue Cube (Functionality) + Black Bomb (Mobility) = Grey Quake Example 2: Orange Rocket (Functionality) + Green Hover (Mobility) = Jade Ghost
I think the reason they changed the drill underwater theme in Lost World was probably because the Colours theme sounded too Japanese (since Aquarium Park was Japanese themed). But since Tropical Coast (the zone where drill underwater was introduced in LW) isn't, they changed it so it doesn't sound so Japanese and sound more soothing instead (for a more tropical snorkeling vibe). As to why Sonic Colours Ultimate kept the Lost World theme, idk tbh lol.

I think you forgot Cyan Lazer's Lost World variant, Yellow Drill's Lost World variant, and Pink Spikes' Generations variant. They don't have much differences, only a few more instruments or sounds
This video is soooo good, my favorite wisp is: blue cube then the jade ghost and the ivory lightning but the purple frenzy sounds like a random person knocking on your door 6x times but it is cool and the Grey quake is super lit and the Cyan Lazer IS OUTSTANDING And that's all! : )

i think that in jade ghost's case it has the functionality of ivory lightning, and not orange rocket

My favorite whisps are cyan Lazer because cyan is my favorite blue color just like navy blue and laser is my favorite elemental power... next is orange rocket because I love the jingle... next is black bomb because I love the banjo theme it's like you are fighting war on the countryside... next is purple frenzy because I love the name... next is indigo asteroid because I love the beats... the beats are like you are fighting war in space... next is crimson eagle because the theme song is very celestial and crimson is my favorite shade of red just like scarlet... next is yellow drill because I love the head shape and you can use your mining skills with it... and last but definitely not least is my new favorite jade ghost because I love the name, the theme music and it's powers!
I like the DS (handheld versions) exclusive wisps have more themes

Aside from Void, Burst was the only Colors DS exclusive, so I guess Sega likes to bring him back as an exclusive to handheld fans
