A Conversation With: 15 years since Kwame saga, Christine Beatty talks return to Detroit

  • Beatty has been working quietly as a program director of THAW, which is a non-profit that helps Detroiters get assistance to pay utility bills. (She has an undergrad degree in social work and a masters degree) She sometimes gets recognized, but more often can move about among friends and family quietly, in the city she loves. But questions about her job and her restitution to the city of Detroit has put her back in the spotlight. Which is why she wanted to tell her story.

She has done what she did, karma is real and it’s Gods grace that she is still stranding. You can tell she has a lot of pain due to she laughed a lot. That was not for happiness that’s for covering up her pain. She just lost her Mom. Im glad her mom lived long enough to see her daughter bounce back in life, and I’m sure that didn’t go without lots of praying from her Mom, family and friends. Christine knows where her help came from. She had her fun back then and God humbled her. Being in Detroit is home for her, but I’m sure it was hard for her to come back.. but she is here, let’s embrace her, what if that was us? She’s human 1st, remember, we all fall short. Everything happens for a reason, and we all make bad decisions at times.. it’s not how you fall it’s how you get back up. I wish her luck on her book coming out call “Journey back”.

I am no advocate for Christine Beatty, as I was an Assistant United States Attorney that looked at many ways of charging her before relinquishing control over her criminal case to Kym's office. That said, no one, and I mean no one, should disparage or attack the work that THAW does, has done or will do because it provided Ms. Beatty an opportunity to assist it while assisting in her own recovery. I watched this interview and it was so genuine and very transparent in her answers to questions. I heard a matured and changed woman who knows God is her help and redeemer. Glad someone gave her an opportunity to make a new start to rebuild her life. I feel that she no longer needs to answer questions from the past (unless she wants to). Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mom. I have been a caretaker/overseer of my mom for years now and it's overwhelming at times but I wouldn't have it any other way. She too, is my Shero. I can relate to so much of your story. Congratulations on your new position! Thank God for second chances!!!

I like her😏We all mess up and/or have dealt with a piece of crap we should've walked in the opposite direction from🤨😑.....she owned hers and deserve a chance to move on peacefully. HIM on the other hand🤨should be arrested again for tryna cover up the murder of that dancer he was involved with (AND HIS WIFE BEAT w/A TABLE LEG SO BAD SHE HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL🤨)..... that was gunned down months later because she said she was gonna tell all she knew😑

The same "scarlet letter" was applied to Monica Lewinsky. It's harder for women to recoup from scandals. I think she's trying to "pay back" for her mistakes. Best wishes,
