Paul got me started on lacrosse, his RUclips channel sparked my interest in the sport. So for that I owe everything I've ever done lacrosse related to him. It's awesome to see him go down as the greatest
Grant was a big strong guy who could not be moved off a spot. Shaquille O'Neal is not the GOAT either. Casey Powell was magical in splitting and swim moves, that we try to get young players to not watch. The objects of lacrosse are complete clears, keep long possession-no rush to shoot, pass accurately, fill open turf on offense, play sound man-on D, perfect both hands. It's not even close. Paul is all that, and has incredible strength and speed to take it to the highest level. There may be rivals for some of these individual items like goals scored. But as a package, not even a conversation.
@@jefflax100 PLEASE John Grant has the best stick in lacrosse history. The object of lacrosse is to score goals on the offensive end. No one does it better than John Grant Jr. Rabil is probably the best offensive midfielder ever, John Grant Jr best attackmen ever. Like Grant cant shoot on the run?! You dont think he is strong?! and completing clears at the pro level is as easy as pie just beat someone in a wide open field or pass it when you are doubled. Like Grant Jr cant pass accurately or possess the ball, ball possession at the pro level is merely just a strategy. Unreal that you think this way. John Grant Jr is the much better box lacrosse player, thats not even a conversation. John Grant can do anything with his left hand and his left hand is better than anyones "good hand". This isnt a bikini contest bro, this is lacrosse you dont get style points.
Exact opposite from what you said, a lot of people don’t know what lacrosse is, but they know him.... I know what lacrosse is, and never heard of him. Gary and Paul gait, John grant jr, John Tavares... these are the goats to me... first 3 especially because they played both box and indoor at that elite level
The Lacrosse Network | TLN well is about time...if ping pong and badminton have emojis then lax should’ve had one already 🙄my 15 year old son and 9 year old daughter play lacrosse and I’m hooked. Love watching the games
There is no way Paul is the best! That tittle can only go to people playing both Box and field. He is very good and is great for the sport. There definitely needs to be more like him. Congratulations Paul. But what about Mark Mathews! Dude is GOAT. Goals are not nearly as impressive as assists and GB's.
Not to take anything away from Rabil, but not GOAT. Lots of names in that conversation (Gaits, Thompson, Powells, Brown, Grant, Petro. While he hasn't played as long, I think Tom Schreiber is the top middie in the game now.
Hi Zach-John Jr. is the greatest of the modern era. A teammate of his father named John Davis along with Gaylord Powless from the 60's and 70's can make a very good claim as the best ever. The lack of video makescthe argument difficult to prove.
@@jimbobogie8204 i was a fan of the 70s nll and the philadelphia wings. no player was ever like the maryland arrows' paul suggate. imho, no player ever had equaled his intensity. a defensemen who could score at will and then throw a few haymakers for the fun of it.
@@dougmphilly Hi Doug-the original pro league was in the late 60's an "Slugger" Suggate was one of the stars of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately there are no tapes of the original league and the pro circuit was an on again-off again thing. By the time the second pro league started (with Philly) Davis was at the end of his career and American fans never got to see his (or Powlless') absolute magic with the stick. Back in those days NHL players could play lacrosse too. Doug Favell was a pretty good stick handler...and Dennis Maruk (and his brother Barry) were pretty good goalies.. Sugggate and John Grant Jr. were the stars of the Wings but Grant Sr. ("Long" John) was even better IMHO. Like hockey different periods have different stars. I'd rate Davis and Powless as the Howe and Richard of lacrosse...then Suggate in a group of 1A's.
Jimbo Bogie my fondest and most disappointing memory was watching merv Marshall, a goalie, run the man up and irritate the hell out of us. The big difference between then and now is the goalie equipment. Back then, goalies make saves. Now they just stop shots.
Lets get this straight, Gary Gait is the best ever. You Americans obviously don’t get that to be the best ever you have to be good at box. Get it right
Paul Rabil is no John Grant, no Gary Gait nor John Tavares. He is but a narcissist who blitzed the internet with self promotion just so he could admire himself.
It might not be so laughable if you said "field lacrosse player" because he'd at least be in the conversation. The great players that have dominated both box lacrosse AND the field game have a big leg up. GGait, CPowell, & GrantJr were every bit as good if not better than Rabil outdoor but WAY better indoor. Even today with guys like LThompson and Schreiber just starting to build their legacy Rabil can't compare unless you specify the discussion as being only about the field game. Rabil was a relative failure indoor mainly because of his refusal to play transition. If he didn't insist on being a forward (which he didn't have the stick skills for) he might actually have been a star. I wonder how he would have done as an attackman. I'm guessing slightly less successful relative to his success as a midfielder.
he played transition very well with the stealth under a coach, chris hall, that grew americans for the indoor game. philly let paul be paul - he's not missed.
@@dougmphilly Yeah that's why I said "relative" failure. If he had accepted the transition role instead of forcing the change to forward the conversation could've been very different. He had the potential to be a perennial TPOY candidate.
@@joefee5537 paul is not the goat, field or box but a master promoter. heck, i say the best post gait goat field player was ryan boyle. smart and tough, turned the mll barrage from a doormat to a dynasty.
He is a beast. Congrats to Paul. Pumped to see what he does next.
ECD Lacrosse I watch your vids
Paul's influence in the sport is legendary. There may never ever be another person that will do so much, and at such a critical time, to grow the game

Is it funny that the greatest hockey players number is 99 and so is the greatest lacrosse player
So did he just get good when he transferred highschool??
Dose anyone think Paul is less energetic and now that he used to be :(
Greatest FIELD lacrosse player of all time, maybe. Guy sucked at box so nowhere near greatest all round lacrosse player of all time
i think in the post gait era that ryan boyle is far more deserving for such an accolade. still say junior and its his hobby.

just lots of hair with a lotta flow, with tight sides. like a really grown out undercut
