So glad to see someone else who considers the storytelling in this game to be GOAT. 3:58 Didn't know you can use flares to set things on fire. I always thought their purpose is to provide a source of light. You know, so that you don't have to rely on night vision. But unfortunately, it seems that a lot of players ignore flares entirely, perhaps opting to increase the game's brightness instead. It's something that occurred to me when I noticed that fan missions often don't feature any flares, even when they require the player to explore some really dark areas.
Well tbf you are a thief, you live in the shadow and the darkness is your friend, there is no reason to use a source of light to betray your best friend if your eyes are already familiar with the dark
@@zaholykrusedar1459 Yes, the idea does seem counterintuitive, but the game is not always about sneaking. Often times you're just exploring with no enemies nearby (or just no conscious ones), and Garrett has no supernatural senses. Darkness is not so much a friend, as it is a temporary ally.

Not using all your tools also really saves on loot spending, too, which means that sadly Garret's landlord stole even more from him.
These are my favorite videos on RUclips. Excellent work. Such fond memories of Benny and the Gang. Also, that invisibility potion must have been placed specifically to get past that guard. Seems cheap but, hey, what are you gonna do? Ghost it? Nah. Cheap mechanics require cheap tricks. Good on ya.
Katie, you continue to astound with every video.

Every time I get the itch for a Civvie video, there's a new one the next day. Great to see another start in the Petty Theif line.
Been eagerly looking forward to the return of Petty Thief for a while now. I really needed more Civvie playing Thief in my life
14:21 I don’t know what I meant by that either. That’s probably the mead talking. I always drink on duty
Bennie isn't the only one who says that. Which makes me think that people just... try not to think about ghosts that very much real in that world.
Honestly I loved the petty theif series I thought it was one of the best series you did civvie. I'm excited for this.
you would think Garret's new eye _would_ have night vision, y'know, BECAUSE ITS ALWAYS SO FUCKING DARK OUT
Amazing, Mandalore and Civvie dropping vids on the same day! Come on Ross Scott make it a perfect 3!
Perfect 4, if we can also count SsethTzeentach.
So glad to see someone else who considers the storytelling in this game to be GOAT. Lots of people prefer the first game but it isn't as matured, and the third game has some truly exceptional levels, but isn't cohesive outside of them. Metal Age, for me, has always been the pinnacle not of just Thief, but of immersive character and story work in videogames in general. You're a champ Civvie.
As a DOOM Eternal fanboy, i'm feeling properly cucked and i love it. Keep up the content sludge, civvie.
It really is a shame that the Thief vids don't get more juice, I love this series so much and you cover it in such a genuinely hilarious way.
I'm a Doom Eternal fanboy and if being blueballed means we get videos on the best Thief then I like it 😏
Kinky
I find myself rewatching your old series' of classic games.
I am a happy human being to have found your channel.
Holy shit it's back.
I know Civvie lamented the lack of interest in the original series, but frankly, fuck you if you find these games boring. I'm down for a full run-through of all these games, including hopefully the utter despair as he plays through Thi4f :P
"Fuck you if you don't like the things I like." Wow what a mature reasonable attitude.
@@Shenaldrac exactly, makes me care about this series even less.
@Shenaldrac @Sam Cooper
Awww, poor babies. Imagine reading this and thinking its a personal attack, rather than a generalised joke.
Also, taking this comment as a "reason" to not watch this series just shows you weren't gonna watch it anyway, making your "point" moot. And also proves how much of a child you really are.
Here's an idea for the both of you: grow the fuck up, go outside, see the sun, and come back to the internet when you can handle it maturely.
Have a pleasant day. :)
@@Shenaldrac thats stealth game fanboys for you.
@@Logan-xo9uc Also to be clear, I _like_ the Petty Thief videos. I'll never play these games, but it's cool seeing Civvie play them and experiencing the story that way. It's just this guy's attitude I have a problem with.
Dude, your theif series has always been some of my fav rewatches, please see this series to completion my man, youre easily the best here
Mad respect for whoever does the subtitles for these videos.
Thank you. 👍
Thanks Civvie, I know the last one didn't get the views, but I'm glad you're continuing.
Somewhat perfect timing actually, now that Gloomwoods' in early access. Just finished that and the hype for Thief-likes seems to be spreading around.
your theif series is one of my favorite series of videos on your channel, I'm glad you make videos like this despite them getting lower views
Awwww hell yeah, best series on RUclips is back.
Seriously Civvie, these thief videos are some of my absolute favorites you have ever done that is in no way respective of how much time I spent beating the hell out of these absolute classic games. Muah *Chef's Kiss*
If it helps, I have recommended your channel to any friend of mine who was willing to listen and a few that weren't.
Thief really has a charm that I've struggled to see emulated in other games of its genre (other than maybe Gloomwood)
Petty Thief is back baby. I absolutely love the thief trilogy. Just before the first Petty Thief i started my own Thief Trilogy retrospective and have since completed all 3 games all on expert. Can't wait for more from you Civvie!
MY FAVORITE SERIES RETURNS
So excited to see you come back to this series. You and Mandalore got me interested in the Thief series and now I get to see you sneak around to defeat Droopy.
My entire day is made, no more need for "petty thief 2 when Civvie?"
This series is SO GOOD. I'm happy you picked it back up!
Glad this series came back thief is one my favorite game trilogies and the 2014 "reboot" is actually a guilty pleasure of mine
Holy crapperdoodle! This is great! Thanks for making my day Civ! I hope you continue this at least through Thief III
Thanks again brother!
Yes, this starts again AND there's a spiritual successor in Gloomwood, in early access! Thief is a brilliant game and series.
I’m excited to see where this story goes.
Finally! Just rewatched the Thief 1 videos today and wondered where are the next.
Good job civvie!!
"Arrest the landlords they're the REAL thieves!"
Man...I felt that...
7:45 "This is actually one of the best missions in the game"
Yeah, i can clearly see that...
for the record, your thief series is one of my favorites on the subject, by all means, keep blue balling doom fans
Doom Eternal Fans*
They're a whole different breed from your standard Doom player.
So glad you're back with Petty Thief!
Hontestly my favorite videos of yours
@@Mrityugata A temporary ally that help ya about 80% of the gameplay
And yeah i get what you mean, but people are lazy when it comes to this, and nobody know what may happen if suddenly someone ambush ya
Ayyoo first time poster. Your work rocks. Love the Thief series. Thank you for the content man!
Civves sure uploading a lot more.
Honestly thought he would never get to metal age. Then again why wouldn't he.
The Petty Thief series actually introduced me to Civvie a few years ago, because I was going through an immersive sim phase and after beating Deus Ex 1 and 2, I was hungry for more content. Now his channel is one of my absolute favourites. Can't wait to see where this goes.
I am extremely glad you took on Thief again. Viewers be damned, they wouldn't know a fun game if it hit them in the face. It's not your fault they choose to ignore two absolutely fantastic games!
And you crying about it only motivates people to care about this series even less.
@@samcooper2474 Ok Sam, you don't like the franchise. We get it.
Even if they don't perform as well as your other videos, your Petty Thief videos are still great, and I always watch every single one of them.
Yay Thief 2! Glad to see it. Let's show those Taffers what thieving is about.
Thanks for getting me into the Thief games. Took me a while, but DAMN those games are good! I even played both on expert from the start and they're absolutely amazing.
Honestly, the Landlord is the main villain of this game series. Good you can rob him in the last game...repeatedly
You're first Thief video is how I got introduced to your channel. Fan for life now Civvie. Thank's for this one!
You should check out "The Dark Mod" if you havent already. Its based round the theif games. Started as a doom3 mod, but is fully standalone now, free and opensource. Runs on all platforms as well
It's still there? I thought it has been taken down...
@@alexmelik4030 I just started replaying it the other night, finished a couple missions so far. Not sure of the past with it being taken down, but it's still up now
Loved the first Petty thief serie, bought Thief one and two after that. Thanks Civvie !
It's sad to know that your Thief series doesn't get many views. I'm glad you're doing the second game, finally.
Guards' comments were one of the things that made this series great, they are hilarious, the sound design overall was so immersive.
we're now one step away from a Deus Ex video
Or System Shock 2, I think Civvie might like that game more than the 1st one, helps that it's also on some form of the Dark Engines
@@ArcturusOTE I think a video on the first game would also be extremely interesting
Not gonna lie, I missed these, probably my favorite series of yours!
The half of civvies audience that doesn’t watch petty thief is the same people who wear punisher shirts with their punisher chain wallet and denim vest
I only watch a handful of RUclipsrs on this website before the algorithm got shitcan, and I am so grateful that Civvie is one of them. He deserves all the support he has.
Glad you came back to this. I know this series doesn't pull the views but I love this Era of games
I am so mad it took me so long to watch this series. Your humor lends itself really well to these games.
Civvie, I don't have time to watch this right now, as I'm at work, but I've been watching your videos since your Blood 2 series way back. You've made subtle and not-so-subtle hints about Thief and Thief 2 for years, and Thief 2 is my favorite game ever. I'm really jazzed to watch this later when I finally get off work. Thank you for all you do. You're the best game reviewer on RUclips.
The return of my favourite Series on this channel. Somehow beyond Pro Blood or Pro postal, petty thief kills every time. I love it, keep it up
Petty Thief is how i found your channel, even though it's not the most popular series, still keep up the good work!
