Also if you didn’t know, you get several spec ops, combat engineers with FOBs and army divisions for free. Just airdrop them from America, and Australia. You also have subs with spec ops in them and 2 carrier groups and 4 tactical airbases. That’s without counting the armies that are already in Europe which is like 6. You already have all the units you need to complete the scenario, just gotta be smart in how you use them by suppporting them or doing combined arms. A few jammers, or EW aircraft, or 2 cruisers can be of great help in reducing that enemy air defense and allows u to do airstrikes with impunity
The beggining isn’t that bad. If you micro a bit, you can get by with like 20 check points on spotting duty, setting patrols with spec ops helicopters and placing armies in the closest cities
Also who says you HAVE to beat the mission first try. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with starting a mission over when you realize you’ve done something wrong.
@@ChiyoBebe. you can also use your attack helos from your army bases to defend cities
@@romanott3149 Yeah! There’s so many ways to deal with the bomb trucks, there’s no need to bring an excess of checkpoints, it’s a waste of time and points
Couple of tips: you have aircraft carriers, if you move all of them into the Mediterranean you can use them to to prioritize strikes against Iraqi air defense then armies. You also have landing ships on the east coast of the usa that you can load armies into, and i believe some have combat engineers already. The travel time to the Mediterranean will give you time where you can focus on spec ops microing to eliminate the secondary targets. And lastly, the enemy will spawn in bases and armies. The reason those armies weren't entrenched is they likely hadn't yet had time to.
When I played this I just overwhelmed the opposition with a lot of army divisions. However, the beginning took me a couple of tries and sometimes I accidentally spilled over into a neutral country and failed the scenario.
In addition:
You're not using airpower from your carriers.
You can setup a field airbase nearby maybe?
Send in combined forces - mobile SAMs, AA guns, armies. Support with air power.
Place a cruiser or ten in mediterrainian. Maybe move the british CV there too.
Place your FOB so you can capture Mosul (I dont know if that helps, but you HAVE to capture it anyways.
Place another army base in UK, double your airlift throughput.
I mean.... the Mission Guy does immediately tell you to put the Country in lockdown, so naturally Security checkpoints would make sense to immediately produce. Plus you can have your spec ops and military units Guard Cites from the Bomb trucks. (spec ops units and security checkpoints have special spotting for Covert units. Bomb Trucks included)
Also, anything the Combat Engineers can carry can be set up in Enemy Territory and they can even pick that stuff back up and move it else where if need be.
Edit: Long as your Armies don't cross any borders you can have your ships Camp in the sea all you want. Cruisers in the Med near Isreal can reach if they got good enough missiles (I think). Also Spec Ops troops operating in Neutral territory do not trigger wars, that is how you go after the "cell leaders". they will still get shot dead if found but it doesn't trigger hostilities.
16:35 The "leader cells" are specops teams that roam around the country the objective says they're in, and it can happen that they wander too close to another unit of yours and they shoot it without you realizing that's what happened.
It took me a couple tries to catch all of the trucks for the first stage of the mission
23:10 Unlike in the first ICBM where you could set the spacing of your satellites when you set the orbit, in ICBM:Escalation you can't set the spacing of your satellites so there's no way to bunch up a Counterforce DEW satellite with a spy satellite so that it can always fire.
@@efulmer8675 you can at least set the height for satellites, though it requires the globe view soooooooo nobody does it lol since the map view is easier
17:05 Your ships blowing up that naval gun could also have been the trigger but I don't know why they would attack that first unless they had already turned hostile (which at 16:55 you can see that one of your army divs crossed the border into western Iran, which does fail that objective).
I really like how this game even adds Whiteman AFB which has most of our B’2. I live pretty close to there and it’s pretty cool when some of the bombers take off and fly over head to who knows where!
7:50 You are allowed to send ships into the naval territory of the Suspected Havens. If you made this video after reading my comment on the previous video, that's my mistake. This also means that you can park the aircraft carrier just off the Iraqi coast and drop your 6 army divs in the two landing ships onto them without failing the mission.
For this mission, you also have a ton of time for what you're asked to do. I was able to complete all the objectives in about 30 minutes and then just sat there for the 15 on 100% research to knock out some more techs for the later missions. Once you defeat the bomb trucks - and you only need 15 or maybe 20 security checkpoints to do it - you can take a few minutes to build up, move your naval units into position, bunch up your specops teams (five of them will take down a security checkpoint no problem), and strategize or premove units into Turkey like you had done but without engaging the Iraqis yet.
Based on that angle of the Statue it looks like it was Jersey that got nuked. Probably Newark at the Airport or the Container Terminal. The Sopranos got whacked.
On another channel I saw this mission done with ALBMs and ALCMs carried by Bombers from Bases in the UK.
The secondary objectives are done with spec ops teams you maneuver through the non hostile countries
Timeline where Saddam actually had WMDs
Love the videos of this game, you convinced me to buy it and it’s a ton of fun
your army move command at 16:37 resulted in your army division entering iran, you have to be very careful with your army divisions
I used kinetic strikes set to target prio targets and heavily microed spec ops teams to get eyes on, with those two also g as the ground troop isn’t spotted killing the cell leaders it didn’t trigger but that was either 1.03 or 1.04
*Naval gun in Iran targets a US carrier*
*Fleet responds by hitting the gun*
"OMG THIS UNWARRANTED ACT OF AGGRESSION YOU MONSTER!!!!!!111"
In my experience with this campaign
Until the very last mission
Every problem can be solved with a bit of naval superiority
To be fair the mission does tell you that you need to spam them...
17:20 You can have those forces there, it's just that at 16:55 one of your army divs crossed the border into western Iran. In fact, you should move those forces to just off the Iraqi coast so you can unload the 6 army divs in those landing ships.
16:55 You can see in this frame or one of the ones around it that one of your army divs crossed into the territory of western Iran.
Ground Zero? I was thinking that this will be some good campain with Nuces
16:53 i think your army drove into iran. you clicked it to move to the north, but there is a corner of iran in the path.
29:15 Fast move armies I think can fight, but its at shorter range and with less damage.
And don't they also take more damage?
I didn't have any problems sending my ships towards the country
one of his army divisions crossed into iran, thats what caused the failure
I think mobile ballistic missiles coupled with mobile radar are better than satellites.
I hate to say it because it requires you to potentially play and record this mission again, and this may have been an older recording, but I'm really invested now and would truly like to see how you complete this mission now. As a member, of course you must listen to my every demand! :) I'm thinking about buying this game still, so I don't have enough knowledge for specific recommendations I know will work, but I'll try anyway.
Is there a way to have all naval forces hold their fire so you may micromanage them and limit their targets, only bombarding and bombing the specific targets using the carrier air wing when you select the target? If not, this specific plan doesn't work and needs some adjustments, but hopefully something I'm typing is worth using in a future attempt. Also, if you can't tell your ships/planes to hold off on attacking specific enemy targets, that's really poor game design. The US doesn't send carriers and destroyers everywhere on freaking auto-attack.
Pregame Research/Unit Purchases (I tried to throw this together) with 2,644 points:
- Research Orbital Attack Satellites: 1,620
- Buy the Research Center: 96
- 20x (approximately; see below) Security Checkpoints: 240
- 2x Cruisers: 208
- 4x Army Divisions: 288
- 2x Combat Engineers: 96
- 2x FOBs: 91
= 2,639 Points
Research Priority Once the Mission Begins:
- Novel Vehicle Fighting Concepts
- Improved Ceramic Armor
1. Discover the Most Efficient Anti-Bomb Truck Strategy & Micro-Manage: I believe, in general, you need to maximize the game mechanics on this mission to increase your overall chances. This means making liberal use of the pause button to ensure there's no wasted time for unit orders per this proposed strategy. Sorry if I mention this again at specific points, but that's the only way to express what I truly mean, as I think this could require truly efficient play to increase your win chances. As others have posted, absolutely focus on min-maxing that early game to kill all bomb trucks, including actively focusing your early game time to manually control your units (specops, armies, helicopters), all with the goal to discover the absolute minimum amount of resources you must effectively waste during your pre-mission spending on Security Checkpoints. Someone suggested they were able to use just 20 instead of 40, so that's why I included the 20 checkpoints in the proposed buy list above. After playing the mission a few times to discover the cheapest solution, adjust accordingly.
2. Opening Orders and Initial Strategy: When the map opens up with time paused and shortly after the game has started, using pause frequently whenever needed to make these moves happen as quickly as possible/simultaneously, I propose doing the following:
a. Navy Movement: Send ALL naval units across the globe to the region, even if it takes forever, including those two purchased cruisers due to how overpowered they appear to be, particularly with your current tech tree.
b. Initial Ground Invasion: Deploy your combat engineers with FOBs onboard and one army division, and send them over with enough margin to be safe, and don't attack yet, until your transports return and you get the other three armies transported as well. Your research will improve their effectiveness mid-game, but I think the two FOBs being there immediately to assist healing is the advantage needed on the initial push only once they are all on the ground together, so a lot of safety margin from their SAMs/helicopters/aircraft. It appears like you have 3x army divisions in the UK as well to ferry over next?
c. Operation "Across the Pond": After your initial bomb truck defense is complete, is there a way to use all of your long-range transport planes to ferry over what I believe to be 19x army divisions available within the continental US? If you can use transport planes to get them from the northeast US over to the next base/airfield and get them to the UK, 19x army divisions save a lot of build time for other units during the mission. There's numerous spec-ops teams in the US/UK and in subs, so you shouldn't need to produce any, I believe, as long as you constantly pause to get these organized and flying over efficiently throughout.
d. Assault the Enemy's Butts with Hard Rods: Build the minimum number of rod-throwing satellites and observation satellites as possible based on monitoring how the mission goes. The goal here also relies on the ships/carrier planes not auto-attacking. Setup the target list again (I'm not sure if that's set by a specific unit, but if so, set it just for the attack satellites; if it covers all units, then you have to keep your naval assets out of attack range during this abbreviated satellite phase with the mission kill list, but all ships should still be heading over). Set the kill list to only target the enemy air bases and everything else they have that may impact your aircraft and naval assets (killing their SAMs/anti-air units, radars, coastal batteries, and TEL's/missile launchers) to open the way for your naval assets and carrier aircraft later.
3. Overall Plan/Timeline: From there, based on the above, the plan is generally obvious. Use the satellites to weaken their forces while you kill all bomb trucks and have all naval assets moving to the region. Establish the initial group of army divisions and FOBs as your core land group and continuously reinforce, hopefully with the army divisions moving over from the US via other transport planes. Of course, be super cautious and micro the movement of your land units. Once the ships arrive, hopefully you can select specific targets only, and from there it should be easy, I think?
Of course, the first reply will tell me there's no way to tell your ships to hold their fire for an enemy unit detected. :)
Thanks for the video,
Yeah just uncheck the auto engage box on your ships and they won’t fire unless ordered to or fired upon
I've liked the scenarios thus far, but boy, I wonder who thought this level design was a good idea lol. Save yourself the pain and skip it if ya want, Stealth
It’s really not as bad as it sounds. The bomb trucks can be Micro’d with a few checkpoints, the units you need are already given to you at the start, the only part I found annoying was that my units could defend themselves against the neutral territory and that would lose my game. The armies move by your command so just don’t put them on the neutral territory
If you use the armies and aircraft they give you in America at the start of the mission after a few tries it’s possible to do it without building any checkpoints
